Fortunate noble ones of futuregenerations, if you seek refuge in me, Orgyen, remain in a secluded placeand give rise to the sorrow of impermanence and the weariness of cyclicexistence. This is very important. Entrust yourself entirely to me withbody, speech, and mind. Moreover, reflect that all the sources of hopeand refuge are perfectly complete within me. Be aware that I am fullyaware of all your joys, sorrows, and hopes. Give up accumulating wealthinstead of making offerings and praises. With devoted body, speech, andmind, pray with this seven line supplication:

ཧ༔ ཨབའརནའཡང་འའ་བའ་བངའམསཚམས་༔HUNG OR GYEN YUL GYI NUB JANG TSHAMHung! In the northwest of the land of Oddiyana,

ཇཁབ་འདའམསཁཇའཇགབའམསངའཔབ་འབསབ་༔KHOR DU KHA DRO MANG PÖ KORSurrounded by a retinue of many wisdom Dakinis,

་་འཇགབ༔ ཡབནའནའཐམས་འཅད་འ་ངའ་འབཏ་༔ བད་ཏའད་འཆརནའཔབའཆབ་འཀའས་༔སནའཅངའགབ་འབཇའཐབ་འཆརནའཇད་༔ ཐངཏ་འཀའས་འད་ངའཇད་འཔ་འཤབཏ༔ ད་འཔ་འ་བནའབ་འཀའསབའཔའཚཏའབདནའམསཇའཏ་བ་འཇད་རབ་འཤནའཏའཟབབའཕ་འཐངཏ་འཀའཡངའཏར་འཏ་ངའབ་འཏད་མས་འཔ༔ ཤར་འ་བའབབའ་ནའ་ངའརརའཆར༔ ཆབ་འཀའད་བངའཕཏའད་རའད་ངའཇད་འཔ་འཤབཏ༔ ཅར་འ་བ Reciting this, supplicate again and again. Engender a strong heartfeltlonging, bringing tears to your eyes. If you become tense through strongfaith, push the air out from your lungs with a hocking sound and settlewith clarity, gazing lucidly and openly without distraction. Is there anyneed to say that I will protect a child who prays like this? You willbecome an heir of the victorious ones of the three times. The mostpowerful is to abide in the awareness of your wisdom mind. It has theability to stabilize your samadhi and expand your wisdom. By great self-arisen blessings, you will be liberated from the passions and be able toperform wisdom activities to eliminate others suffering. When you aretransformed your perceptions of others will change, at the same time youwill accomplish enlightened activities. All the sublime qualities will beperfected within you. Which is the most skillful method upadesha of selfrealizing ones own nature of wisdom and liberation from samsara. Thisis The Lord of All, which is stainless Dharmakaya. May my heart-disciples encounter this supreme liberating upadesha. In particular,because this seven line supplication that accomplishes my blessings ismost profound, and is the foremost secret upadesha treasure, may it meetwith the most compassionate great wisdom holder Chökyi Wangchuk.

THE LORD OF ALL BUDDHA FAMILIES

ཨརའམསའ བ། །ངབའམསཚ་འརད་འཀའཆབ་། །É MA HO NGO TSHAR MAY KYI CHHÖWondrous! How astonishing, the excellent nature of truth!

ད་འཏ་ངམསའ་ང་འར་འཐམས་འཅད་འཀ། །DÜ SUM SANG GYAY T’HAM CHAY KYI The Buddhas of the three times,

སའཏ་ངངའཐངཏ་འཀའངབའབབའད་། །KU SUNG T’HUK KYI NGO WO NYIEssential nature of body, speech, and mind,

ཇཁབ་འཇད་་འཡབནའནའད་པ་འད་ངའ་ན། །KHOR DAY YÖN TEN PAL DANG DENHaving all the glorious, noble qualities of samsara and enlightenment,

བའམསཇའཞབ་འ་འཕཏའཇཚ་འབསབད་། །LA MAY ZHAB LA CHHAK TSHAL TÖAt the feet of the Lama, I prostrate and praise.

བའམསཇའསའནའརབའརརཇའས། །LA MAY KU NI DOR JEY KUThe Lama's body is the vajra body.

མསང་་འཤངའབའབ་འཆབཏའམསའཤར་། །DZEY SHING TA WAY CHHOK MI SHEYGazing upon it, the beauty is beyond compare,

བ་མསའ་འམསའབའཡབནའནའ་ན། །SAM GYIY MI KHYAB YÖN TEN DENWith noble qualities beyond conception,

བའམསཇའསའ་འཕཏའཇཚ་འབསབད་། །LA MAY KU LA CHHAK TSHAL TÖTo the body of the Lama, I prostrate and praise.

བའམསཇའཏ་ངངའནའཚང་འཔཇའད་་བང་། །LA MAY SUNG NI TSHANG PAY YANGThe Lama's speech is the melodious voice of Brahma,

ཇཏཏའམསརད་འ་རངའཏརཇའསའད་ངའ་ན། །GAK MAY SENG GEY DRA DANG DENLike a lion's roar that is unceasing,

མསངའསརཏ་འ་འདཏ་འསཏའམསངད་འཔ། །MU TEK RI DAK TRAK DZAY PATerrifying the herds of Tirthakas,

བའམསཇའཏ་ངངའ་འཕཏའཇཚ་འབསབད་། །LA MAY SUNG LA CHHAK TSHAL TÖTo the speech of the Lama, I prostrate and praise.

བའམསཇའཐངཏ་འནའནམསའམསཁཇའཇད། །LA MAY T’HUK NI NAM KHA DRAThe mind of the Lama is like stainless sky,

བད་རའཏ་་འམསའགབཏའསབངའཔཇའངངའ། །DÉ SAL MI TOK TONG PAY NGANG Abiding in the continuity of empty bliss, clarity, and no thoughts,

༄༅། །སབནའཔའབའམསརད་འ་ང་འར་འ་ནའཔབའཆར། །TÖN PA LA MÉ SANG GYAY RIN PO CHHÉThe precious Buddha, the supreme lord,

སབབའཔའབའམསརད་འད་མསའཆབ་འ་ནའཔབའཆར། །KYOB PA LA MÉ DAM CHHÖ RIN PO CHHÉ The precious holy Dharma, the supreme savior,

ཇདརནའཔའབའམསརད་འད་ཏརའཇདནའ་ནའཔབའཆར། །DREN PA LA MÉ GÉ DÜN RIN PO CHHÉ The precious Sangha, the supreme guide,

སབ་འཏན་འད་ཀབནའམསཆབཏའཏ་ངམསའ་འམསཆབད་འཔའཇབང་། །KYAB NAY KÖN CHHOK SUM LA CHHÖ PA BULTo you, precious Triple Gems, the supreme objects of refuge, I make offerings.

ཏཞནའ་འམསའཐངབའབདད་འཀའད་པངངའཇབམས་འཔ། །ZHEN GYIY MI T’HUB DÜ KYI PUNG JOM PA Always triumphant over others and annihilating demonic forces,

ཏ་ར་འའལནའཔབའའབང་འབརད་འཔཇའས། །SER GYI LHÜN PO TA BUR JI PAY KU Splendid golden body like Mount Meru,

ཤཀཇའར་འཔའཞབ་འ་འམསཆབད་འཔའཇབང་། །SHAKYAY GYAL PÖ ZHAB LA CHHÖ PA BULAt your lotus feet, King of the Shakyas, I make offerings.

་ངའད་བང་འད་ད་འཔཇའཇད་བའསབངའ། །ཏརའ་་འབཞད་འཔཇའད་ཀ་འན། །NYING Ü DAY PAY DAB TONG GÉ SAR ZHAY PAY KYIL NAAt the heart center of a blossoming thousand-petaled lotus of faith,

གཏའཏའ་བནའ་འབབ་འབཞན། །ཇབ་འམསརད་འད་ ར་འཔ་འབཞཏ་འཔཇ།།TAK TU JIN GYIY LOB ZHIN DRAL MÉ GYEY PAR ZHUK PAYYou are always continuously blessing and joyfully abiding indivisibly.

བའབད་ཏའ རའ་ངའཀའད་པ་། །ཇཏ་འབ་འཡརའཤར་འརབའརར། །KYAB DAK HÉ RU KA PAL JIK DRAL YÉ SHEY DOR JÉAll pervasive Lord, glorious Heruka, Fearless Wisdom Vajra,

ཏངའབད་འར་འཀནའངབའབབ་། །་ངའན་འངར་འཔའརརད་འཔ་། །GANG KHYÖ GYAL KÜN NGO WOR NYING NAY NGEY PA NYÉ PAYYou are the essence of all Victorious Ones, I found this certainty from my heart.

བཟབབད་འམསརད་འཏདངའབཇའཤཏ་འཀ་། །རརའཏཅཏའཏ་བ་འབའཇད་རབ་འན།།ZÖ MÉ DUNG WAY SHUK KYIY TSÉ CHIK SOL WA DEB NABy the strength of eager enthusiasm if praying one-pointedly,

ད་བངའ་བནའད་ངབ་འགབའབདད་འར་། །བད་ཏའརད་འསནའགབ་འམསངད་འཅཏ །WANG JIN NGÖ DRUB DÜ TSIY DAK GYÜ MIN DROL DZÖ CHIKBy the nectar of empowerment, blessing and siddhi, may the Buddha nature of my mind be ripened and liberated.

Calling the Lama From Afar

འཅངའབའམསའདནའན་། །རངའཇབབད་འཇབའད་བད་འབབ་འཀངའ། །HA CHANG LA MA DREN NAY GYANG BÖ O DÖ BÖ KYANGFervently remembering my Lama, though I call from afar with lamentation,

་ངའ་རམས་འཏཉཏའམསའཇད་འ་་། །བའམསའ་བཏ་འ་ངའམསའརརད་། །RANG SEM NYUK MA DI LAY LA MA LOK SU MA NYÉOther than my own continuous mind I could not find my Lama.

ཏ་བ་འབའཏད་བའ་བཇའཡང་འད་ངའ། །ཇད་རབ་འཔཇའམསཁནའཔབའམསརད་འན། །SOL WA DAB JAY YUL DANG DEB PAY KHEN PO MÉ NASince there is no object to pray to and no subject who is praying,

ཏ་བ་འབའཇད་རབ་འ་མསའབབ་འ་བ་། །ཇངནའརབ་འབཅབ་འམས་འཅའ་བརད་། །SOL WA DEB NYAM LÖ JAY DZIN TSOL CHÖ MAY CHI JÉWhy should I pretend to pray with contrived thoughts and grasping effort?

ཏ་་འ་འངབ་འབཟབངངའམསརད་འཔཇ། །གབཏའབ་འ་ཏའསབངའརརནའཔ། །SAL LA NGÖ ZUNG MÉ PAY TOK DRAL RIK TONG JEN PAClear, unidentifiable, naked empty awareness, free of conception,

ཇད་འཀའད་བནའའབའམས། །ཡརའཤར་འརབའརར་འངབའཤར་། །DI KA DÖN GYI LA MA YÉ SHEY DOR JER NGO SHEYThis is the absolute Lama. I recognize that my Root Guru, Vajra Primordial Wisdom,

ཡརའཡནའངངའཏན་འཆརནའཔབ། །་ངའབབ་འཏད་བད་འམསཇའཏཞའ་། །YÉ YIN NGANG NAY CHHEN PO RANG BAB DÖ MAY ZHI LAIs, from the beginning, continuously abiding in the basic state of supremeprimordial self-nature.

Calling the Lama From Afar

༄༅། །རངའན་འཇབབད་འཀངའམསའད་ཏབ་། །ཇགམསའན་འབཙ་འཀངའམསའད་ཏབ་། །GYANG NAY BÖ KYANG MA GÖ DRAM NAY TSAL KYANG MA GÖThere is no need to call from afar. There is no need to search nearby.

བབའཇད་་འཇངབའཆབབའཏཤ་འ་ང། །ཇཁ་འཔཇའམསངའཡངའམསའགཏ་། །LO DAY UB CHUB SHIY SU T’HRUL PAY MING YANG MI DRAKAll immeasurable phenomena are contained in mind beyond conception. In the nature of wisdom, there is not even the name of delusion,

མའངནའཇད་་འཔའའཅ། །མསམསའད་འབད་རའཀབངའཆརནའཔབ། །NYA NGEN DAY PA TA CHI NYAM NYI DÉ LONG CHHEN POWithout doubt, one is free from suffering; this is the great profound ecstasy of evenness.

ཏངའཤ་འཆབ་འསཇའཡབའ་ངའ། །ཏད་འ་བའབ་འབཇའ་བནའབ་། །GANG SHAR CHHÖ KÜ YO LANG TAY SO DRAL WAY JIN LABWhatever phenomena arise are the display of Dharmakaya.

ར་འཇ་བབ་འ་ངའ་འཞཏ་འཇད་། །ཨའ བའངབའམསཚ་འཆརཇབ། །NAL JOR NYING LA ZHUK DI A HO NGO TSAR CHHÉ-OI, a practitioner, receive this blessing free from aims, in my heart. How supremely wondrous!

ཞར་འཔཇངའ་ངའད་འ་འམསངབནའཔ་འམསབ་འཔཇའབབའགབ་འད་ཏརའབའ་ཏ་འ་ནའམསའབད་རའཆརནའཆབ་འསབནའན་འརངའཇབབད་འཀའཏ་བ་འཇད་རབ་འཇད་འའབངའཞཏའད་ཏབ་འཞར་འཡངའཡངའབས་འབའཡད་འ་འབཅཏའཔཇའཐབཏ རའཆ་འཡརའཇབབཏའས་འཔཇའསའ་ནའཔབའཆར་འཏ་ངངའཏའཏ་བ་འབབའཔའ་འབགརནའན་འཇཏ་འབ་འཡརའཤར་འརབའརར་འཤ་འམས་འབ་འཔའད་ཏར། །།This was written spontaneously by Jigdral Yeshe Dorje according to thewishes of the noble lady Dechen Chödrön, who has virtue, intelligence,

First, Refuge Imagine that one's root Lama whose essence embodies theThree Jewels, the sources of refuge, appears in the form of GuruRinpoche in the sky in front of one.

ཇད་འབཟབངངའ་བངའཆབབའ་ངའཔབའམསའཐབབའབ་༔DI ZUNG JANG CHHUB NYING PO MA T’HOB BARFrom this moment until attaining the essence of enlightenment,

བའམསའད་ཀབནའམསཆབཏའཏ་ངམསའ་འསབ་འ་ངའམསཆ༔ LA MA KÖN CHHOK SU LA KYAB SU CHHII take refuge in the Lama, who is the Three Jewels.

ཞར་འཕཏའད་ངའསཏའསརའཅའ་་འ་ངའབརབད་།Thus, with prostrations, recite this as much as possible.

ཏ་འཔའ་རམས་འབསརད་འཔའན། སབ་འཡང་འད་པངའཔབ་འཏ་བ་འར།Second, Develop Bodhicitta (The Heart-Mind of Enlightenment)

ཚ་འ་བ་འཀནའའ་ང་འད་ངའ་བང་འསབད་འད་པ་༔TSHÉ RAB KÜN GYI LÜ DANG LONG CHÖ PALMy bodies, wealth, and glories of all my lives,

ཚཏ་འཏ་འབཏ་འཕ་འད་ཀབནའམསཆབཏའཏ་ངམསའ་འཇབང་༔TSHOK NYIY DZOK CHHIR KÖN CHHOK SUM LA BULI offer to the Three Jewels in order to complete the two accumulations (merit and wisdom).

བཛའགའ་ངའཀའཡའཝའཀའཙའ་དའཧ༔ ཞར་འད་བངའབཞའབངའམསཐ་།BENZAR GURU KAYA WAKA TSITTA SIDDHI HUNGOne is collecting or receiving the attainment of wisdom body, wisdom speech, and wisdom heart from the Vajra Master, Guru Rinpoche.

After receiving the four empowerments:

བའམསའཇབད་འཞའ་ངའཐམསའད་་བར་འམསརད་འངངའ༔LA MA Ö ZHU RANG T’HIM YER MÉ NGANGThe Lama dissolves into light and is absorbed into oneself.

་ཏའསབངའད་བནའའབའམསཇའ་ངའཞ་འབ༔ RIK TONG DÖN GYI LA MAY RANG ZHAL TAAbide in indivisible awareness and emptiness, which is the face of the absolute Lama.

ནའད་ངའམསཚནའདའཆབ་འ་འསབད་འཔ་འཤབཏ །NYIN DANG TSHEN DU CHHÖ LA CHÖ PAR SHOKAnd may I apply myself only to Dharma day and night.

ཏཞནའཕནའབསབའ་འསབའང་འམསརད་འཔ་འཤབཏ །ZHEN P'HEN DRUB LA KYO NGAL MÉ PAR SHOKMay I make the effort to benefit them, never tired or sad.

བ་འཆརནའཏཞནའད་བནའཕབཏ་འ་་འམསརད་འཔའཡ་། །LAB CHHEN ZHEN DÖN CHHOK RIY MÉ PA YIYBy great waves of benefit for others, without discriminating between beings,

ཐམས་འཅད་འཕམསའཏཅཏའ་ང་འར་འཐབབའཔ་འཤབཏ། T'HAM CHAY CHHAM CHIK SANG GYAY T'HOB PAR SHOKMay all of them attain the state of fully enlightened Buddha, altogether.ཀབངའཆརནའཔཇའཏ་ངངའ Written by Omniscient Longchenpa (Translated by Thinley NorbuRinpoche).

Of course, those who are nihilists have no belief in karma, virtue, or theTriple Gems; that is why they are nihilists. They think only about thismomentary life and that it is not necessary to consider previous births orfuture reincarnations since they do not believe in them. According toBuddhist theory, however, until one attains the state of enlightenment,one must believe mind is continuous even though one does not see themind's continuity. Since the mind is continuous, phenomena will becontinuous, so the phenomena of suffering and happiness arecontinuous. Sometimes there are phenomena of suffering and sometimesthere are phenomena of happiness, but either way, these phenomena

In order not to circle like this between suffering andhappiness unceasingly, it is necessary to be liberated to reachunchangeable, flawless ecstasy; and in order to be liberated one needsvirtue or merit until the habits of dualistic mind are exhausted. So, oneneeds to believe in abstaining from negative karma and increasingpositive karma and the accumulation of merit and wisdom. In order tomake accumulation, first one needs to obtain a precious human birthwith the seven qualities of the high realms of gods and humans.

PRAYER FOR THE PEOPLES OF THE EARTH

༄༅། །ཇངམསའགངའསའད་ངའཡང་འཁམས་འཇད་འད་ཏའཏ། །DZAM LING CHI DANG YUL KHAM DI DAK TUAt this very moment, for the peoples and nations of the earth,

ནད་འམསངཏའམསཚནའ་བཏ་འསཏའབས་འམསངའམསའགཏ་། །NAY MUK TSHÖN SOK DUK NGAL MING MI DRAK May not even the names of disease, famine, war and suffering be heard,

ཆབ་འ་ནའབ་བད་འནམས་འད་པ་འཇ་བབ་འཏབངའདའཇཕར་། །CHHÖ DEN SÖ NAM PAL JOR GONG DU P’HELBut rather may pure conduct, merit, wealth and prosperity increase,
