MAPAaralan Project! School Mo, I-Pin Mo!
An on-going project of mapping all the schools - public
and private, and including higher educational institutions
and tech-voc institutions.
The objective is to plot all educational institutions that will
become a critical component in planning process,
definition of programs, allocation of resources, and
other critical decisions that have a great impact on
schools.
MAPAaralan Project! School Mo, I-Pin Mo!
With all schools in the map and the information in our
schools database, we will be able to understand our
education system better, determine unique and relevant
initiatives, and become more efficient in the roll-out of
programs and projects.
How many schools do we have?
DepEd has 46,603 Public Schools which
comprises of:
38,689 Elementary Schools and
7,914 Secondary Schools
Mapping
• School locations are gathered using Google Maps
• During the first phase, Division ICT Coordinators were
tasked to create maps per division
• The next phase involved DepEd employees
• Map links are sent to DepEd Central Office for
consolidation
Mapping
• Map links are checked for format compliance and KML
file is downloaded.
• KML files are merged using Google Earth and the
loaded to Google Fusion Table for further processing

• Satellite images are not clear or have clouds over areas
• Difficulty in establishing internet connection in the area
• Limitations in Google Maps
