When one thinks of sacrifice what
will the one think of, and of duty,
what will one think of? Most will
think of Death, offerings, life
threatening, saving someone else,
or giving up you for a cause. All
are true, but with a world filled
with propaganda, good and bad, and
news articles spread through out
social media, the true meaning.
Sacrifice
Sacrifice is an act of giving or
lending, time, money, or any item
or idea of value, to one person or
many, with in a cause the person
feels necessary and or obliged to,
but will not be reprimanded on
failure to give, and has no obliga-
tion to give, unless they so seek
to; with to the extent of giving
with no returned income, or reward.
Simply stated sacrifice is an act
of giving when not needed.
Duty
Duty is an act of giving or lend-
ing, time, money, or any item or
idea of value, to one person or
many, with in a cause the person
feels necessary and or obliged to,
and will be reprimanded on failure
to give, and has an obligation to
give, even if they so not seek to;
with to the extent of giving with
returned income, or reward; yet one
may chose to exempt them selves
from the action with expenses.
Simply stated duty is an act of
giving when needed, or asked to.
Well, what if a person decides to
go further then duty and sacrifices
some?
So be it then, where a person de-
cides to do more than asked and
gives a part of him or her self, it
is a choice for the person; as oth-
er givings, to give a part of him
or her self for a system or organi-
zation in to what he or she feels
right.
Here are storys of sacrifice and
duty, in which we will analyze and
determine what came from them;
9 11
On September 11 2001, two boing
planes crashed into the two twin
towers in lower Manhattan, killing
over 3,000 people. This was later
to be accused and sustained to be a
terrorist attack.
With in seconds sirens could be
herd, as hundreds of alarms would
go off in the two towers. Later
more than 1,000 firefighters ap-
peared on spot, in full uniform to
help and save hundreds and thou-
sands of injured. Most would lose
their lives in this terrible trage-
dy.
Here many firefighters where not on
their shift, but sacrificed their
lives for cause of rescuing others,
it would be a noble cause, where
all would be remembered. Even
though a duty of the Fire Depart-
ment to be first responders, it is
not in their code to stay inside of
a building about to crash down.
When risks are too high, they are
not forced to enter, as many did,
to give their lives to save anoth-
er.

This is an act of both Duty and
Sacrifice.
The Titanic
On the Titanic, March 1912, the
sink less boat would hit an ice-
berg, and split in two. In addi-
tion, fall to the bottom of the
sea, more than 1,000 men and women
lost their lives in this triadic
event.
The men and women that held to the
ropes of the lifeboats, and casta-
way valuable time, are sacrifices,
while the crew, or at least most of
the crew, where serving duty.
It is necessary to state that of-
ficers who did stay on the boat af-
ter fulfilling their posts also
sacrificed their lives.
Almost all of the crew that signed
up for the job took on the act of
sacrifice, when they enlisted in
their job dutys.
Analyze
So what the heck you ask.
Well yes the people, where amazing
and many lost lives, but you can do
the same, with out losing yours.
When you take a person you like or
know in your hands, and there are
glints of tears in their eyes, and
you comfort them, you have just
given part of you to them, sacri-
fice. But as a friend, you are also
at duty to comfort and care for
them. So you have done both.
Altogether it is the
Duty of a member of our US Military
and guards, to protect lives and
care for us, protect our freedom
and wealth. However, nothing says
that they are to act as a human
shield, or take a bullet to protect
another. That is their choice. That
is their Sacrifice.
When one goes to Arlington ceme-
tery, the Tomb of the Unknowns, and
any resting place of men and women;
it is important to remember that
the sacrifices made for us, where
not in vein and to embrace their
gift, and not gamble it.
So nows your choice, how will you
serve?
