GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
FOR USE OF BRUSHED DC MOTORS
If silicon materials, which contain low molecular sili-
con compounds, adhere to the motor‘s commutators,
brush or orher parts. Then upon rectifi cation of the
electric energy the silicon breaks down into SiO2, SiC
and other compounds which produce a rapid incre-
ase in the contact resistance between the commuta-
tor and brush. Therefore care should be taken when
silicon material is used in a unit and check while at
the same time that such binding agents or sealing
materials are not generating gases of detrimental
nature, whether used for motor mounting or applied
during your product assembles!
Care must be taken for an optimum selection, es-
pecially when using those of cyanicadhesive and
sulfur gas.
Axial thrust on the output shaft could have an ad-
verse effect on the motor life. i. e. as is produced
by worm gears, fans, etc.. Check the service life
expected under the actual operating conditions
by testing the motors installed in your application
products. For heavy thrust loads, consider using
something mechanical to retain the shaft end.
If when mounting the motor and assembling the
unit an equipment which emits ultrasonic waves
is used there is a danger that some of the internal
parts of the motor might be damaged so please
take care.
Don‘t store motors under environmental condi-
tions of high temperature and extreme humidity.
Don‘t keep them also in an atmosphere where
corrosive gas may be present, as it may result in
malfunction.
When soldering, be sure to fi nish your work quickly
so as not to develop plastic deformation around the
motor terminals nor to give them any forced bend
or inward depression. In doing so, special care
must be taken not to allow solder debris and fl ux
to spatter into motors and precautionary measures
should be taken if necessary, by covering up all the
nearby holes and apertures. Any motors having
snap-in terminals must also be attended carefully
so as not to get fl ux in along the terminals. as it
may cause failure in electrical conduction.
Don‘t leave motor shaft locked while power is applied,
as even a short-time lock-up may cause excess heat
build up resulting in burning damage to the motor
depending on its specifi cations.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Terminal Resistance (R)
The resistance of the armature winding, commuta-
tor connections and the commutator measured on
the commutator bars normally spanned by a pair of
opposite polarity brushes. It does not include the
brush fi lm.
No Load Speed (n0)
The actual speed the motor will run with no load
applied at rated voltage. If not otherwise defi ned
the tolerance of the no load speed is assumed to
be ±10%.
No Load Current (I0)
The current generated at rated voltage with no load
on the motor - a function of rotation losses, both
electrical and mechanical at 22°C. The tolerance is
given at ± 50%.
Stall Torque (TS)
The torque developed by the motor at zero speed
and nominal voltage. This value is greatly infl u-
enced by temperature.
Rated torque (I)
This is the recommended continuous torque at 25 °C.
Rated current
This is the recommended continuous current at 25 °C.
Efficiency (� max.)
The max. ratio between the absorbed electrical po-
wer and the obtained mechanical power of the mo-
tor. It does not always correspond to the optimum
working point of the motor
Power (Pmax.)
The maximum obtainable mechanical achieved at
the nominal voltage.
Back EMF constant (KE)
The constant corresponding to the relationship
between the induced in the rotor and the speed of
rotation.
Torque Constant (KT)
The constant corresponding to the relationship bet-
ween the torque developed by the motor and the
current drawn.
Rotor inertia (gcm2)
Rotor’s mass dynamic inertia moment
Speed regulation constant (rpm/mNm)
The ratio of the speed variation to the torque variation.
The smaller the value, the more powerful the motor.
Weight (g)
The average weight of the basic motor type.
Temperature range
Indicates the min. and max. motor operating tem-
perature, as well as the maximum permitted rotor
temperature.
Shaft load max. (N)
The output shaft load at a specifi ed shaft diameter for
the primary output shaft. For motors with ball bea-
rings the load and lifetime are in accordance with the
values given by the bearing manufacturers. This value
does not apply to second, or rear shaft ends.
