SUMMER CAMPSCAMPING WITH A PURPOSEOur exceptional programs encompass all of what the Y is and stands for: developing youth, fostering new friendships, teaching new skills and activities and much more—all while keeping our campers safe and well cared for. Through the direction of our staff, campers will gain new abilities, challenge themselves with the unexplored and learn to work with others as a team. Nothing is more rewarding than watching a camper’s joy as they learn a new skill or meet new friends. Here at the YMCA of Wooster we have eager role models that are excited to share this experience with you!

DEDICATED STAFFWhat sets us apart is our passionate and dedicated staff. YMCA of Wooster camps are led by a full-time professional director. Our summer staff is selected for their strong character, maturity, enthusiasm and commitment to our Y values and serves as “Professional Role Models” for our campers. We provide extensive staff training, drills and preparation which include criminal background checks, first aid and CPR training.

SUMMER READING PROGRAMThe YMCA and Wooster City Schools partner together to ensure at-risk readers can attend summer day camp programs while also receiving summer reading support. Students will be invited to attend the Summer Reading Program by their teachers at Parent-Teacher Conferences in March. Wooster City Schools and the YMCA work together to provide transportation, ensuring a smooth transition occurs between programs.

BREAKFAST & LUNCHEach Camp site offers breakfast and lunch available as part of the camp registration. Breakfast is served approximately at 8:30 am and Lunch at 12:00 pm.

EXTENDED CAREWe provide a supervised extension to a camper’s typical day for the YMCA Day Camp only. This cost of extended care is included in camp fees. Morning care is 6:30 am-Camp and Afternoon care is Camp-6 pm.The SPOT does not have extended care options.

Y CARES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCEThrough generous donation and volunteer support we are able to send hundreds of children to camp every summer who may not have afforded our programs otherwise. The YMCA of Wooster offers

financial assistance for families who qualify. If you need assistance with the application or have questions please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you would like to support the Strong Kids Campaign and send a child to camp please make a pledge at the YMCA of Wooster.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND FEESRegistration for all Wooster Day Camps including: YMCA Day Camp, The Spot Camp, and Kids in Motion Camp will start April 1st. For those who register at Healthy Kids Day, registration will be FREE. Before starting any camp, all campers must have completed camp paperwork and return forms to Y, paid registration fees and purchased a pool pass if non-member. Registration packets for each camp may be picked up at the YMCA front desk beginning April 1st. Rittman registration forms may also be picked up at Rittman Elementary School. Rittman Camp registration start date is TBD.

SWIMMINGAll camps will utilize the city pools this summer, depending on which camp attended, including Freedlanders and Christmas Run. All campers will need to either have a YMCA membership OR a city pool pass. There is no extra charge for members, but non-members will need to purchase a pool pass from the Parks & Recreation. Cost is $25 for those on free and reduced lunch and $45 for all others. Proof of Free and Reduced lunch must be shown at time of registration and when purchasing a pool pass.

CAMP REFUND POLICYPlease be aware of the YMCA’s Refund Policy for Camp (stated below). Memberships are absolutely non-refundable. You can cancel your membership at any time with a 30 day notice required. Camp fees are due on the Wednesday prior to the week of camp your child will be attending and are non-refundable. If you choose to keep your child home or elsewhere during the day, your fees will not be transferred or refunded.

Y DAY CAMP (CLUBHOUSE KIDS SUMMER PROGRAM)Y-Day Camp is a traditional state licensed day camp program that allows our campers to experience everything that our camps have to offer. This on-site camp is packed with daily swimming and instructional sports to science, asset building, guest speakers, nutritional classes, arts, music, reading games and much more to keep our campers engaged and excited every day. Our caring staff is specially trained in first aid and CPR. Each week is themed and our campers will go on an all-day exciting trip in our area. Children will participate in both small and large group settings that present children with the opportunity to grow personally and socially, develop skills for meeting new friends, to learn and understand the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. And of course—HAVE FUN!! *ODJFS ACCEPTED

THE SPOT YOUTH AND TEEN CAMPThe Spot summer camp is a United Way supported camp open to grades K-12th. The Spot is a day camp filled with fun educational and recreational activities. All activities are based around weekly themes! It is open from 9am-4pm Monday through Friday! The dates are June 3- August 9. A Summer Pool Pass OR YMCA membership is required. Some extra fees apply for field trips and there is a $10 weekly fee for those not on free and reduced lunches. Breakfast and lunch are provided through the schools. Scholarships available at the YMCA of Wooster.$10.00 Registration Fee or FREE registration on Healthy Kids Day May 4REGISTRATION BEGINS APRIL 1 (CAMP LOCATION TBA)

RITTMAN SUMMER CAMPThe Rittman summer camp is a Rittman Exempted Village Schools supported camp open to grades 1st-5th (must have completed Kindergarten). The Rittman day camp is filled with fun educational and recreational activities. All activities are based around weekly themes! Each morning, students will participate in a fun summer learning loss program to help students enhance their literacy skills throughout the summer. The camp will be located at Rittman Elementary School from 7:30am-5:00pm Monday through Friday! The dates are June 11th- August 10th. Breakfast and lunch will be provided every day to all campers. There will be a bus that stops at 4 different locations in Rittman to pick up students. The buses will also take students home. This Program is supported by the United Way of Wayne and Holmes County. PRICES TBD.

LEGO CAMPDuring Lego camp, campers will start out following instructions and building pre-designed projects. From these simple skills they will develop their imagination flow and develop several of their own creations. With teamwork competitions, daily challenges, teamwork cities, and amusement park worlds, campers will expand their imaginations and learn a world of possibilities for play at home. Campers will walk away from an amazing week with a project book full of pictures of their creations and friends. OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CAMPGRADES 3RD-8THOutdoor Adventure Camp offers special emphasis on outdoor recreation, reconnecting kids with nature and bringing back a sense of adventure to the outdoor experience. Campers will experience fun and exciting outdoor activities that may include team building, low ropes, water activities, hiking, sports, nature crafts, fishing, archery, climbing, swimming and water activities, nature centers and programs, scouting skills and survival techniques, outdoor cooking, storytelling, swimming and more.

KIDS IN THE KITCHENStir up a little FUN this summer! If your child likes to cook, this is the camp for them! Campers will have an afternoon filled with learning how to bake different recipes throughout the week! Each year the recipes are based around a new theme. Children will “master” cooking basics and kitchen safety, prepare different courses, and get messy in this hands-on camp. The week culminates with the kid’s preparing their favorite recipe of the week where family members will be invited to try the food that the kids have prepared! June 24-28 • Ages 7-12 • 12:30pm-3:00pm (Family will be invited on the last day to try their child’s favorite recipe)Members: $65, Non-Members $90*MINIMUM 6 PARTICIPANTS

KIDS IN MOTIONThe Y and EJ Therapy are offering a specialized program called Kids in Motion for children who may benefit from Occupational or Physical Therapy. Your child will participate in parts of the Summer Y Camp as well as a program designed for Kids in Motion, receiving special care from an OTA three days per week during summer camp. This Program is supported by the United Way of Wayne and Holmes County.

LEGO EXPLORERS CAMPGRADES K-6THExplore the wonderful world of Legos. Campers will create towers, build buildings and use Legos to create their own personal creations. Have timed competitions and free build time. Campers will also get an opportunity to use thematic Lego sets and create themed displays for the Fun Friday Showcase!

Our Jr. Lifeguard Camp is a hands-on experience for campers to learn First Aid and CPR, water rescue techniques and other topics related to lifeguarding from trained and certified staff. Not only does this valuable experience build self-confidence and skills for life, it focuses on the skills and training that participants will need to be successful YMCA Lifeguard candidates once they reach an age to be certified. Please plan on demonstrating the following water skills the first class: Tread water for 2 minutes, swim 100 yards of varying strokes and perform a dive to a 10 foot depth.

At the completion of the course the participates will earn CPR, First Aid and AED Certificate.

OPEN SWIM POLICYTo swim without a parent or guardian, children must be 6 years of age or older AND 48” tall OR able to pass the deep water test.

WRIST BANDS REQUIRED DURING OPEN SWIM•For those ages 6-14 wrist bands will be distributed at the front desk during open swim times.• The computer will indicate which color band each child should receive. Band colors represent swim levels.• Those not tested will need to be tested and then the information will be entered into the computer.

• Must swim one length front crawl with face in water, breathing without hesitation and above water arm recovery; jump into deep end and resurface. Tread water for 30 seconds, float on back and go from floating position to prone/standing position. • At the guard’s discretion, swimmers may be asked to retake the test at any time.

The Spot Before and After School Program is housed at the YMCA of Wooster for the 2019-2020 school year! The Spot Activities Club program is a licensed program that will provide morning and afternoon childcare, serving all Wooster City Schools for children K-6th. Transportation to and from school will be provided. The morning program opens at 6:30am and dismisses children to school at the appropriate time. The afternoon session buses from WCS and is available until 6:00pm. Some of the daily activities at The Spot will include but not be limited to: Tutoring, Sports and Fitness Activities, STEM, Cooking, Character Development, Arts & Crafts, Gymnastics, Swimming, Community Service, Climbing Wall Access, Computer Labs, and more! A healthy snack is provided each afternoon. Our program will also be open for all Wooster City School delays and is included within The Spot program!
