NEW DELHI, Sept 3:Mahindra & Mahindra

Farm Equipment Sector, a partof the USD 16.5 billionMahindra group, todaylaunched Arjun Novo - a newtractor platform in two variantsin North India.

The 57 and 52 HP varianttractors are priced at Rs 7.30lakh and Rs 6.99 lakh (both exshowroon Gurgaon).

"We have designed it keep-ing in mind the requirements offarming need of the Indianstates. It can handle 40 farmingapplications including puddling,harvesting, reaping and

haulage," M&M Farm DivisionSenior Vice President - Sales,Channel & Customer Care -Bhartendu Kapoor said.

Arjun Novo is loaded withfeatures such as advance syn-chromesh transmission, 18speed option including 15 for-ward gears and 3 reverse gears,precision hydraulic with highestpump flow.

It has been designed anddeveloped at M&M's globalresearch facility at Chennai.The company has investedaround Rs 300 crore to developthe Novo platform, he added.

"Its 15 forward and 3

reverse transmission gives idealspeed for use of any imple-ment," he added.

Moreover, keeping in mindthe new generation, M&M hasalso introduced air-conditionedversion of the tractors withglass cabins to provide comfortand reduce noise.

"The new generation wantedto have air-conditioned cabins.We have enthusiastic results,farmers from Punjab and evenfrom states like Chhatisgarh hasbought it," Kapoor added.

The air-conditioned versionwould cost Rs 2.50 lakh more.(PTI)

M&M launches Arjun Novo tractor

Despite losses, insurance industryattracts investments: IRDA

HYDERABAD, Sept 3:Insurance industry is still attractive to many investors even

though many insurance companies are still making losses andthe sector needs lot of trained personnel to cope up withgrowth, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authoritychairman TS Vijayan said today.

The insurance watchdog said the FDI limit will be fixed bythe government and the IRDA's job is to ensure that regula-tions are followed by the companies.

"Insurance is attracting the attention of the general publicand investors are ready to put money even though many com-panies are still making loss," Vijayan said on the sidelines of aprogramme by Indian Institute of Risk Management.

Citing the example of Life Insurance Corporation of India,Vijayan said the government capital infusion into the companywas only Rs 5 crore in 1956 when it was started. (PTI)
