HALLOWEEN PARTY

WHERE: Van Buren Park, main entrance FEE: $6.00 wristband per child for the Halloween Par ty ***Pre-registration is requested to make sure we have enough goodies for everyone! ** 150 kid maximum Participants can enjoy “terrifyingly” fun games and activities, all with a ghoulish flair! Don’t forget to bring your camera! Parents are required to stay with their children. Wristband activities include all the games, the inflatable bounce house and a goodie bag. If there are spaces available, you may pay the day of the event.

The Town of Van Buren Halloween Fun-Fest will be held on Saturday, October 26, from 10:30am-1pm. at Van Buren Park. In case of inclement weather, the Halloween Party portion, of the event, will be canceled. Final decisions, on the location will be made by Friday, October 25, and will be posted on our Facebook page. KIDS:

The day will feature carnival type games, a bounce house (if outdoors), refreshments/food, pumpkin decorating and more. Entry is free; however, attendees will need to buy wristbands for games and activities. Parents will need to purchase wristbands for each child. The $6 bands will include a goodie bag, unlimited game play and bounce house use. Refreshments, food and pumpkin decorating will be available at additional costs. Please see each individual descriptions for the Fun Fest for locations and additional pricing.

Volunteers will be needed to set up and take down the chairs, help set up game booths, and run game booths for this event. Four hours of community service credit is available for volunteers.

Pumpkin Derby is a side-by-side race featuring handcrafted, decorated Pumpkin Racers in a display of ingenuity. Excitement builds as Pumpkin Racer contestants battle head-to-head for the coveted Pumpkin Derby Championship Trophy. We also award a prize for Best Decoration and Design. The pumpkins may be whole, carved, painted, and/or decorated in any manner. Be as creative as you can. Requirements: The Pumpkin Racer must be made from one pumpkin or fall gourd with independent axles and wheels, or anything that will allow the pumpkin to roll (no skateboard, scooters, etc). GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. All fee programs are run on a self-sustaining basis; enough people must register to cover the cost of a program or the program will be cancelled. We reserve the right to cancel or combine classes if necessary. The Parks and Recreation Department does not carry medical insurance for program participants.

PROGRAM REFUND POLICY Refunds for participant cancellations will be given up until five days business day prior to the start of a program (unless otherwise noted). This refunds will be MINUS a $10.00 administrative fee per cancellation. Absolutely NO refunds will be given after that point. In the event that this department cancels any programs, full refunds will be given. No refunds will be given for one day programs (except in the case of department cancellations)! Refunds $15.00 or under can be refunded in cash at the Parks and Recreation office during business hours. Any refunds over $15.00 must be refunded by voucher. Voucher bills are submitted to the Town Board, and are paid after the bimonthly meetings.

FALL AND WINTER PAVILION RESERVATIONS

Looking for a prime location for a party? Van Buren Central Park has a Lodge, three large pavilions and four small pavilions for private parties and company picnics! Want to see it before you rent it? Visit the park, or see pictures of the picnic facilities available on our web site at www.townofvanburen.com and Facebook. Reservations are accepted in-person ONLY (not by telephone, mail, or online) at the Parks and Recreation office, and payment of RENTAL FEE must accompany reservation paperwork (payment accepted by cash or check). Rental fees include exclusive use of the picnic shelter (or lodge) maintenance costs, and cost of electricity (where applicable). A $100.00 DAMAGE DEPOSIT (in the form of a check ONLY) is also charged per reservation. It is accepted any time from when you book the pavilion up until 4 days before the reservation date. As long as the pavilion is left the way it was found, you leave on time and no damage occurred, then you may retrieve your damage deposit one to two business days after your event. REFUND POLICY: You will receive a full refund minus a $15.00 Administrative Fee if your cancellation is received at least thirty (30) business days in advance of date reserved; Half refund minus the $15.00 Administrative Fee if you cancel at least fifteen (15) business days in advance of date reserved. Call the Parks and Recreation office during business hours for information on shelters available and reservation fees!
