Challenges in Resource-Based Learning
Web Resources are not created for learning purposes
No existing pedagogical support There is no teacher or tutor to guide the learner There is no structured learning process There is no specifically prepared learning material
Entire Learning Process is self-directed The learner has to find relevant web resources Learners have to manage different tasks in addition to learning
KOM – Multimedia Communications Lab 5
Requirements for Resource-Based Learning
Support for all Resource-based learning tasks in one platform
Identify information need Plan and reflect on learning process Search for relevant web resources Annotate, tag and organize resources Use resources e.g. to prepare a
presentation Share and distribute resources and
results to others

Pedagogical Concept
Activities organize tasks Structure hierarchically
Create sub-activities and super-activities Attach Resources to Activities Describe and Attach Experiences to Activities
Asking questions Discussing issues with others
Create and Attach Result Document to Activity

Evaluation and Implementation
Evaluation of pedagogical concept(One-day workshop with 32 participants)
Formulation of activities was helpful Reflection process was found important Need for more support when structuring activities
