Thursday, July 25, 8:00 PM, CGC-UCC BRUBECK BROTHERS QUARTETChris and Dan Brubeck had the unique privilege of growing up listening to, studying with and eventually playing alongside one of the great jazz legends of our time, their father, Dave Brubeck. Add to this heritage the fact that Chris and Dan's musical tastes were forged in the stylistically innovative 1960’s, and you have an exciting combination of musical elements to draw upon! With Dan at the drums and Chris on electric bass and bass trombone, an exciting evening goes over the top with the addition of guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb. The Young Musicians’ Summer Master Classes are a summer extension of the Community Arts Program Conservatory for the Arts. Master classes provide young musicians with one-on-one dialogue and training from artists appearing on the Community Arts Program Summer Concert Series. It’s also the chance for every enthusiast to gain a deeper insight into music and the music industry, through the “real-world” perspectives of renowned performers. Twenty-eight years ago, an evening summer concert series was born to present classical and jazz musicians within the intimate, Spanish-revival setting of Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ (CGC-UCC). Magic happened! 150-plus concerts and upwards of 62,000 attendees later, the Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ Summer Concert Series has become a longstanding tradition and part of a year-round Community Arts Program. The Community Arts Program (CAP) also affords every child, regardless of circumstance, the chance to attend Young Musicians’ Summer Master Classes for a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from the very same renowned artists who perform on the Summer Concert Series. Throughout the remainder of the year, August-May, children participate in CAP's vibrant, after-school Conservatory for the Arts. The CAP Conservatory for the Arts delivers exceptional in-depth learning through its music theory classes, instrument instruction, Young Musicians’ Junior and Intermediate Orchestras, Advanced Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Prep Band, ALL-STAR Jazz Ensemble, and CAP Records® label which gives students experiences in studio musicianship, production and recording.
