THANKFUL FOR CONCORDIA PARENTSPARENTS HOST INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL
Our Concordia parents sure outdid themselves this year with one of the most entertaining and enjoyable (and educational!) celebrations of our many cultures at Concordia this year. From musical acts of Japanese dancing, Korean drumming, Mexican mariachi, Vietnamese Cat Thu, and Scandinavian children’s songs to traditional games and foods- our parents went all out to make this a delightful day in our community.
With over 20 nationalities at the school, parents took up the entire auditorium and the adjacent plaza areas and performed in two separate shows for students. Thank you, parents for all your hard and creative work. A special THANK YOU to Concordia mom, Heo Rahn (lena) for being the overall parent organizer for the event.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL INTERIMS ADVENTURE, CULTURE, SERVICE, AND MORE!
Imagine an interim trip so intense that you spend weeks
beforehand preparing yourself for both the physical and
mental challenges that lie ahead. Students in grades
Grade 7-10 prepped by climbing stairs of local high rise
buildings while loaded down with backpacks to simulate
the trek that lay ahead in the Chinese mountains. The
trip itself engaged students on a week-long adventure
of orienteering, trekking, and survival training, led by Mr.
Umphenour (ex-Army Special forces ) and Mr. Whitehead.
The goal of the trip centered around building leadership
through decision-making skills.

DA LAT ADVENTURES
The Lonely Planet describes Dalat as a place in Vietnam like
nowhere else. Visitors may think they’ve stumbled into the
French Alps in springtime and it served the former colonists
as a retreat, especially due its lovely cool weather.
Concordia Grade 9-11 students spent the week learning more
about orienteering, biking, and trekking, all while engaging
in great team building activities and getting to know each
other better.

NAM DINH & HANOI
This interim was probably one of the most varied out of all
the trips this year. A group of eight Concordia boys traveled
to central vietnam and had a chance to explore the mangrove
marshes and wildlife if Xuan Thuy National Park in Nam Dinh.
While there, they gave back to the park by contributing in
trash pick up and beautifying efforts along with other local
youth volunteers. The students also celebrated with a little
bowling, trampolining, and a visit to the new Concordia Van
Tri campus site.

MAI CHAU- GRADE 6
Set in a tranquil valley in Hoa Binh Province, the quiet villages of Mai Chau were
perfect for an outdoor, back-to-nature kind of week. Students biked, hiked, climbed,
and had a chance to experience local hospitality as they spent the night with hosts
from the local ‘Black Thai’ ethnic minority group in stilt homes.
HIGH SCHOOL HOI AN SERVICE TRIP
As part of the UNESCO World Heritage protected sites and situated on the central Vietnamese coast, Hoi
An made for a beautiful destination for our Concordia students looking to give something back to the local
community. Students dedicated very two full days to building a playground for a local school as well as
upgrading a community center. To balance out all their hard work, students also had a chance to unwind
with some beach time, a stunning bike ride out to the My Son Cham ruins, compete in a scavenger hunt,
and take a local cuisine cooking class.

ALL SCHOOL FIELD DAY
There is nothing like a great day of sports
and outdoors with friends! This year’s
Concordia field day was just as active and
entertaining as always with wonderful
parents volunteering to help run activities
and huge smiles from students all around.
