Rethinking “contactless” devices for the post-Corona implementation  needs

COVID-19 has forced the world to look touchpointswith a lot of suspicion. For all practical purposes, touchpoints are inevitable and it is quite commonto deal with utilities like Elevators, rest rooms etcespecially at public places or at shared spaces.Certain countries have to start using toothpicks inelevators for pressing buttons which are temporaryworkarounds. These needed to be looked moreholistically and how to make devices “contactless”or “minimize contact” is a dimension that designthinking will have to start embedding. Innovationsaround such design thinking in day to day devicesand facilities we use are encouraged to participatein this category.

Your Safety is country's concernIn case of technological ideasworthy for prototyping, NIFwill provide requisite financialhelp. Those ideas which maybe implemented ordisseminated, NIF will engagewith relevant District/ State/National authorities for theirimplementation. The details of ideas andinnovations may be sent tothe following email id([email protected]) withcomplete details about theperson (Name, Age,Education, Occupation,Address, Contact Number,Email) and details about theidea/ innovation (includingphoto and video, if any).Alternatively, ideas andinnovations can also besubmitted through thefollowinglink-http://nif.org.in/challenge-covid-19-competition The C3 is being announcedon March 31, 2020 andwill be accepting entries on arolling basis until furthernotification.

PPE’s and Rapid diagnostic testing facilitiesfor capacity building of healthcare

Any amount of healthcare preparedness seemedvery tiny while dealing with COVID-19. PPE’s(Personal Protective Equipment) like masks etc.and other important requirements like ventilators, rapid diagnostic testing facilities are needed inextraordinary quantities. Innovations in the PPE’scategory and those contributing to Rapiddiagnostic testing are encouraged to participate.Innovations which could provide protection againstrespiratory droplets from coughing and sneezing ofthe infected and also against airborne transmission, when tiny droplets remain in the air even after theperson with the virus leaves the area.

Varying needs of the different segment of population during COVID-19

COVID-19 has impacted all sections of globalpopulation be it the children, youth or the elderlypeople; Corona Warriors: Medical and EssentialServices Providers and most importantly theDifferently - abled, Special Needs and MentallyChallenged Population. Innovations for theDifferently - abled, Special Needs and MentallyChallenged Population is a very importantdimension so that the pandemic is addressed foreveryone in an inclusive manner.
