athleticsandtreateveryoneequally• Cooperatefullywithothersinvolvedinthesportsuchascoaches,technicalofficials,team

managers,doctors,physiotherapists,sportscientistsandrepresentativesofthegoverningbodyinthebestinterestsoftheathlete

• Consistentlypromotepositiveaspectsofthesportsuchasfairplayandnevercondoneruleviolationsortheuseofprohibitedorage-inappropriatesubstances

• Neverplaceunduepressureonchildrentoperform,participateorcompete• Checkthequalificationsandlicencesofpeoplewhoarecoachingormanagingyourchildor

offeringaserviceconnectedtoathleticssuchasphysiotherapy,massageornutritionaladvice.• Takeanactiveinterestinyourchild’sparticipationattendingcompetitionswheneverpossible• Rememberthecoaches’decisionisfinal• Knowexactlywhereyourchildwillbeandwhotheywillbewithatalltimes• Nevermakeassumptionsaboutyourchild’ssafety• Ensurethatyourchilddoesnottakeanyunnecessaryvaluableitemstotrainingor

competition• Informyourchild’scoachorteammanagerofanyillnessordisabilitythatneedstobetaken

intoconsiderationforathleticperformanceorabsencefromtraining• Informtheclubofanychangeincircumstances• Provideanynecessarymedicationthatyourchildneedsforthedurationoftraining,

competitionandtrips• Assumeresponsibilityforsafetransportationtoandfromtrainingandcompetition.Ensuring

yourchilddoesnotarrivemorethan10minutesbeforetrainingcommences,andthattheyarecollectedpromptlyafter.

• Completeandreturnanynecessaryconsentformstotheclub/teammanagerorappropriateperson,includingnextofkindetails,healthandmedicalrequirements

• Reportanyconcernsyouhaveaboutyourchild’soranyotherchild’swelfaretotheChildProtection/WelfareRepresentative

• Ensureclubmembership,trainingoreventfeesispaidinfullandontime

dangeroustoyourselforothers,actsofviolence,bullying,harassmentandphysicalandsexualabuse

• Challengeinappropriatebehaviourandlanguagebyothers• Beawarethatyourattitudeandbehaviourdirectlyaffectsthebehaviourofyourchildand

otheryoungathletes• Avoiddestructivebehaviourandleaveathleticsvenuesasyoufindthem• Neverengageinanyinappropriateorillegalbehaviour• Notcarryorconsumealcoholtoexcessand/orillegalsubstances.• Notcarryanyitemsthatcouldbedangeroustoyourselfortoothersexcludingathletics

equipmentusedinthecourseofyourchild’sathleticsactivity
