TAUNTON — Taunton HighSchool will hold its graduationceremonies at 1:30 p.m. onSunday.

The graduation ceremonieswill take place in the school’sfieldhouse. Organizers said therewill not be any overflow seatingin the cafeteria.

Beautification day athigh school June 2

Community gardenopen to seniors

RAYNHAM — The com-munity garden at the corner ofKing Philip and Gardiner streetsis available now to local seniorsfor planting and growing vege-tables. Water spigots are placedthroughout the communitygarden for ease in tending plantsthroughout the season. Threestudents from Bridgewater-Raynham High School will assistseniors throughout the seasonwith weeding and working onthe plot.

Raynham supports increased budget for Mosquito Control ProjectMarc [email protected]

RAYNHAM — TheRaynham Board of Selectmenmade a motion on Tuesdayto support an increasedbudget of the Bristol CountyMosquito Control Project forthis season.

This comes after lastyear when an 80-year-oldRaynham man died from

Eastern equine encepha-litis (EEE), which is spreadto humans by mosquitoes.Earlier in the month, astate study on EEE showedthe number of people inMassachusetts who contractedthe mosquito-borne virus hasbeen rising.

The budget, which isincreased from prior years,is a total of $1.4 million, saidTown Administrator Randall

Buckner. The contributionfrom Raynham is $51,000,Buckner said.

“It increased a pretty goodamount with the EEE threat,”Buckner said. “I highly rec-ommend it.”

Selectman Joseph Pachecosaid Tuesday’s motion was areiteration of previous sup-port for the Bristol CountyMosquito Control Project’sbudget request.

Also, during Tuesday’smeeting, the Selectmenapproved a request from theRaynham Park dog trackand Rockwell Amusementto have a carnival at the dogtrack on Route 138.

“It’s one of those travelingcarnival shows,” Bucknersaid. “They’ll have rides andfood vendors.”

The carnival will takeplace through June 3.

The Selectmen also

approved a special one-daylicense for Christopher’srestaurant and bar to havea charity fundraiser for aperson with cancer on June10, from 3 to 8 p.m.

There will not bea Raynham Board ofSelectmen meeting nextweek, as the Board is now onit’s summer schedule. TheSelectmen will now meetevery other Tuesday untilSeptember.

Climbingto thechallengeBristol Aggie students recently took part in the annualTree Climbing Jamboree at the school. During the event,students from the aboriculture program had a chance toshow off some of the skills they worked on during theschool year to their fellow students.
