Centre de Biochimie Structurale

Post-doctoral Program inBiophysics and Structural Biology

Université de Montpellier Sud de France

The Centre de Biochimie Structurale carries out research at the forefront of biophysics and structural biology to unra-vel the mechanisms underlying key biological processes. The CBS, an institute from the CNRS, the INSERM, and the Universities of Montpellier, is located at the heart of a world-class research campus in biology. We develop and use a full range of advanced biophysical technologies (single-molecule fluorescence, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, magnetic and optical tweezers, super-resolution microscopies, high-speed and high-resolution AFM, ...) and high-resolution structure determination methods (NMR, x-ray crystallography, electron-microscopy).

We invite applications for eight postdoctoral and a lab manager positions, funded by French (ANR) and European (ERC) research agencies. Research positions are available for the study of:

- Transcription regulation at the single-molecule, single-cell level, using advanced 2-photon correlation spectrosco-pies on B. subtillis (Nathalie Declerck)

- Molecular mechanisms of prokaryotic transcription termination : single molecule FRET and nanomanipulation. (Emmanuel Margeat)

- Transcription regulation and chromosome remodeling in Drosophila one molecule at a time: single-molecule FRET, nanomanipulation (optical and magnetic tweezers), super-resolution microscopies (PALM, STORM) (Marcelo Nollmann)

- Pressure effects on protein folding : high pressure fluorescence and NMR (Catherine Royer)

- Nuclear receptors structure and function : X-ray cristallography (William Bourguet)

Applicants are expected to have a training and research experience in physics, physical chemistry, biochemistry, biophy-sics or cell biology, and express strong interest in working at the interface between these disciplines.
