CURRENT LEAGUE TABLE

In one of only two games to go ahead due to the

weather, Druids defeated Rhydymwyn for the

third time this season. Playing against the wind

on a very wet and heavy pitch Druids soon mas-

tered the conditions and were three goals up

before the break. Robbie James slid in the first

goal from a corner followed by another from

Scott Quigley four minutes later. Nicky Ward

added the third just seven minutes later to give

Druids an unassailable half time lead. Second

half goals from Robbie James again and Steve

Blenkinsop completed the scoring against a

Rhydymwyn side who never gave up.

Caernarfon kept the pressure on Druids with a 3-0 win over Porthmadog. A goal from captain Gra-ham Austin gave them a half time lead and se-cond half goals from Clive Williams and new sign-ing Lewis Codling gave the home side the points in front of a crowd of four hundred and twenty five. In the only other game Guilsfield and Rhayader shared the points in a 1-1 draw at The Community Centre ground.

CURRENT LEAGUE TABLE

DRUIDS RES 3 : 1 RHOS AELWYD

Druids Reserves switched their home fixture

with Rhos Aelwyd to the MUGA at Plaskynaston

to preserve the playing surface at the Rock.

However the change of venue caused no upset

as Druids Reserves comfortably saw off the

challenge of mid table Rhos. Druid’s goals were

scored by Josh Williams, Nick Hughes and

Callum Smith. The match was marred by a bad

injury to Hari Gould who required hospital

treatment requiring several stitches. The result

keeps the Reserves seven points clear in

second place but seven points behind leaders

Penycae who they face next.

They now face the unenviable task of playing

two games in two days next weekend with a

table topping clash with Penycae on Saturday

followed by a stiff cup tie on Sunday

CRAIG GARSIDE

Joined Caernarfon Town in March 2005 after brief spells with Bangor and

Colwyn Bay. A team-mate of Wayne Rooney at Everton, whom he played

alongside in the 2002 FA Youth Cup final, has captained Wales at U15, U16

and U19 level. Played for Connah's Quay in 2006/7 before a move to Rhyl in

the close season. Scored in Rhyl's InterToto Cup tie against Haka, but was

unable to secure a regular first team place and returned to Nomads in August

2008. Joined Bangor City in June 2009 and scored the goal that won the title in

2010, but was released by mutual consent in November 2012.

TONY CANN

Promoted from the Connah's Quay academy after also playing for local side

Sealand Rovers, left the Nomads in October 2006 to join West Cheshire

League outfit St Werburghs. Signed for Bangor City in February 2007 before

moving to NEWI Cefn Druids in the summer. Tony left Druids in 2008 without

playing a game but returned to Druids in 2011 and scored vital goals in the run

to the Welsh Cup final. Recently been playing in Australia.

DRUIDS ADD TWO NEW PLAYERS

Druids have made two new signings to bolster the squad for the run-in to the end of the season.

Striker Tony Cann was part of Druids Europa League squad in 2011/12 but left to go to Australia.

Mid fielder Craig Garside has a wealth of experience having played over 100 games in the Welsh

Premier League. Scored the goal which won Bangor City the league in 2010 and has also scored

for Rhyl in Europe.
