Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5: 1-2

Page 4: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

“Grace, particularly that which causes joy, pleasure, gratification, favour, acceptance, for a kindness granted or desired, a benefit, thanks, gratitude…the absolutely free expression of the loving kindness of God to men finding its only motive in the bounty and benevolence of the Giver; unearned and unmerited favour. It changes the individual to a new creature without destroying his individuality.”

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Romans 6: 1-6

Page 6: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin…

Some things in our lives need to hear a loud “no longer”

Point 1:

Page 8: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Romans 6:14

Page 9: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

The power to live out a lasting “no longer” can’t be found under the law

Point 2:

Page 10: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

“You are not under law but under grace”

“a mental and emotional disorder that affects only part of the personality, is accompanied by a less distorted perception of reality than in a psychosis…does not result in disturbance of the use of language, and is accompanied by various physical, psychological, and mental disturbances (as visceral symptoms, anxieties or phobias).” (Merriam-Webster 2003)

Neurosis:

Be kind to one another; tender-hearted, forgiving (GK *charίzomai) one another as God in Christ forgave (GK* charίzomai) you.

Ephesians 4:32

2 Thessalonians 3:14 Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed.

Titus 3:10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.

Matthew 18:17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a

pagan or a tax collector.

This hope will not disappoint us.

Romans 5:5 HSCB

Page 15: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

1 John 3:2

And,“But my righteous one will live by faith.    And I take no pleasure    in the one who shrinks back.”

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Romans 1:5 Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for his name’s sake.Romans 16:26-27 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith—to the only wise God be glory forever

through Jesus Christ! Amen.

Romans 1:5, Romans 16:26-27

Page 18: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

It’s time we no longer see our lives under any heading but “Grace”

Point 3:

Page 19: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.

Romans 3:21-29

Page 20: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. 27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God

of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too

Romans 3:21-29

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, discovered in this matter? 2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God. 3 What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

Romans 4:1-3

Page 32: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

Romans 6:6-14

Page 33: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Romans 6:6-14

It’s also time we quit trying to resuscitate the old dead us.

Point 4:

Page 39: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

Romans 6:6

When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!’

Luke 15:17

Page 41: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. 6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

Galatians 4:4-7

Page 42: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

Let’s trade our “no longer worthy” for “I’m no longer the same”.

Point 5:

Page 43: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more..

Romans 5:15 and 20

Page 44: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

The people walking in darkness    have seen a great light;on those living in the land of deep darkness    a light has dawned.

Isaiah 9:2

Page 45: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 But they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. 25 God publicly displayed him at his death as the mercy seat accessible through faith. This was to demonstrate his righteousness, because God in his forbearance had passed over the sins previously committed.

Romans 3:23-25 – The NET Bible

Page 46: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now.

Hebrews 9:5

Page 47: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

Luke 18:9-14

Page 48: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Luke 18:9-14

Page 49: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5:1-2

…to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

Ephesians 1:6

Page 51: Beth moore 2013 scriptures

1 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

Ephesians 5:1-6
