In 1926 an 8-year-old girl entered in acontest to name the grocer we have all cometo know and love. She was inspired by thegold columns in front of the store, as well asthe close proximity to Gold Rush country, andNugget Market got its name. This year, theFolsom area has recognized Nugget Marketas Best of the Best in many categories in-cluding: Best Grocery, Best Organic Grocery,Best Customer Service, and Best DessertStore.
“We’re honored by the unfailing supportof our guests year after year! Thank you, ElDorado Hills Telegraph readers, for votingus Best Grocery Store, Best Organic Grocery,Best Customer Service and Best Dessert!”said CEO/President, Eric Stille.
Nugget Market’s unconventional take on atypical grocery store is what sets them apart
in the industry. Their wide array of fresh andlocal produce is only the tip of the icebergwhen it comes to products offered.
“Nugget Markets offers a wide array offresh, high-quality perishable foods includ-ing an extensive organic and local produceselection, sustainably rated seafood, organicand grass-fed meats, and chef-prepared en-
trées, salads and sides,” said Stille.Nugget Market Inc. was originally founded
in Yolo County by a father /son team, Mackand William Stille, and has continued in thefamily for four generations. After 89 yearsin business, Nugget Market has expandedto include 12 locations in the SacramentoValley and Marin County regions.
“We are a family of dedicated people witha love of food and a passion for excellentservice. We are committed to constantimprovement, our people, and most impor-tantly, guest satisfaction. Our associates areour competitive edge — superior quality andgreat prices are just part of the bargain,”Stille said.

On their website are the words “pampered perfection.”
That’s what employees at Adagio For Hair aim for and it’s one of the reasons why the businesswas voted as “Best Salon in El Dorado Hills” in the Telegraph’s annual Best of the Best contest.
Adagio has been open less than three years, but has already made quite a name for itself. Thesalon is co-owned by Donna Huston and Denise Avallone.
“Our customer service is what sets us apart in our industry,” Huston said. “We try to create anexperience for those who want to get their hair serviced. We have a private shampoo room witharomatherapy and clients also get a head massage and they love that.”
Avallone added, “We have a variety of experience levels (with our staff) and that allows us
to service a bigger demographic. Our lather lounge allows us to focus on the customer experi-ence. We also have a beverage bar with teas, coffee and snacks for our clients when they arerelaxing.”
Both Huston and Avallone were genuinely surprised to hear their salon won the Best of theBest Contest.
“It was absolutely a complete surprise,” said Avallone. We weren’t expecting it. It’s completelyorganic and really nice to know our customers voted for us.”
Said Huston, “We were delightfully surprised. I’m humbly grateful to the community.”
Huston and Avallone love their jobs, the people they work with and their clients.
“We have a passion for what we do,” Huston said. “I love mentoring our employees and I loveto service our clients and make them happy.”
Avallone concurred.“I enjoy working with people and doing hair the most. I enjoy watching people bounce out of
our door feeling nice and pretty.”

Gilmore Heating, Air & Solar is a family business, started by John Gilmore in1979.
Today, his son Darrin is in charge of the daily operations of the business based in
Placerville. For Darrin, the company continues to focus on customers and the relationship be-
tween a service technician and a client. This is what the company is built on. Oneof the things Darrin has learned throughput the years from his dad was that youhave to have good people. It is never about just the equipment. If you have greatpeople, everything else is going to fall into line.
“We spend a tremendous amount of time training and looking for people. Asa general manager, I spend more than 35% of my time looking for great team mem-bers. If I can contribute one thing to our success, our rapid success over the lastfew years, it would be the culmination of better and better people. We are becominga place where people strive to work for. They want to work for Gilmore. We know that
people look at us like we are going to take care of the employees first and foremostand because we do that, they take care of our clients always. And that is kind ofthe foundation of what the history of Gilmore is. Quality, safe, customer service isalways the forefront of everyone’s mind.”
Gilmore accomplishes this with this directive: When in doubt, do what’s right. What would you do for your mother or grandmother? If you are in a situation and youcant get a hold of anybody and there is a determination or question what to do. Theright thing, the ethical thing is always best.
Darrin admits, “Sometimes it might cost us a little bit of money. But right orwrong, if the customer is happy, you will never get scolded, you’ll never get repri-manded and that’s kind of the philosophy we go from today.”

The Kids Camp Family Fun Center was voted thisyear’s best family activity in El Dorado Hills in theFolsom Telegraph’s annual Best of the Best contest.
The fun center has been in business since June of2015 and has their one year anniversary coming up.
“If you book with us, you get the place for twohours,” said Cameron Emami, co-owner. “You arepaying for your kids to have a phenomenal time, notour rent, like other places. We want kids who come toparties here to turn to their parent and say, ‘I want
my party to be here.’”Emami said he doesn’t enjoy winning, he expects it.
“If I’m not going to win, then I shouldn’t even takeon the challenge,” he said. “The end result is that Iam in business to be the best!”
To him, winning is fine, but losing is unacceptable,he said. Anyone can own a business, but what areyou going to do to raise the bar and be different,
Emami said.
Emami is in this business to be the best, becausewhy would you want to own a business and not putyour all into it? He is in business to be the best, andthat is what he was voted.
Emami owns the fun center with his wife Kittie tolive out her passion. Kittie worked very hard in her
career and once she was financially stable, she lefther career to pursue her dream and never lookedback, Emami said.
He said back in the day he got into a little troubleand had to complete some community service at akid’s day care. In the end, Emami loved it and learnedthat this job fits him very well, he said.

Family owned El Dorado Hills Dental took the “Best Dental in El Dorado Hills” award in theBest of The Best contest for 2016. Dr. Jim Cope and his son Dr. Ben Cope are carrying on afamily tradition of quality dental service and a commitment to superior techniques in El Do-rado Hills. Kimberly Cope, RN and office manager at El Dorado Hills Dental touted the uniqueofferings and loyal customer base at the establishment.
“We have a couple of things (that set us apart),” Kimberly Cope said. “Number one is ouryears of experience. The combined experience means a lot. Plus we offer IV sedation. It’s saferthan oral sedation and very effective for those folks who need it. The quality that we give isexcellent.”
The establishment also provides a full range of all stages of dental implant work, includingoral surgery, and cosmetic full mouth reconstruction. The wide range of services extends fromthe experience and care to detail provided by this dental family.
Dr. Jim Cope’s father was a dentist before him, instilling a desire in Jim Cope to help peo-ple; which according to Kimberly Cope was the main motivation for entering the dental field,
a motivation shared by Dr. Ben Cope. Ben Cope got a taste for the dental field while accom-panying his family on a trip to Mexico where they were providing charity dental work.
“We are in it to change people’s lives and to help them feel better about their smile andtheir oral health,” Kimberly Cope said.
Kimberly Cope added that winning again was a sign of the quality of service offered at ElDorado Dental, saying they were very happy and very grateful for the recognition.
“We have wonderful patients, we consider many of them our friends; they’re loyal and wegive our very best to them,” Kimberly Cope said. “We feel very honored and very pleased thatour patients would vote for us again in this way.”

Cinder Law , owned by attorney Cynthia Brown was the toppick for Best Law Office by readers of the Telegraph in the2016 El Dorado Hills Best of the Best campaign.
Cynthia Brown of Cinder Law has over 15 years of experi-ence in estate planning and has enjoyed helping hundredsof clients with this important matter throughout El Dorado,Sacramento and Placer Counties.
“I really enjoy educating people on estate planning. Peoplehave varying degrees of knowledge on the subject and it isvery satisfying to teach my clients something, then havethem go to their friends and family members and share whatthey’ve learned, said Brown. “
“A lot of People are under the common misconception thatbecause they don’t own much, she added.” “They don’t needto plan for after they die. But the reality is, estate planning ismuch more than just “post death” planning. Estate plan-
ning involves a lot of important decisions that could effectthem if they developed any type of debilitating illness.”
Brown has found in her experience that most people need ata minimum a Will or Living Trust, an Advance Medical Direc-tive and Power of Attorney. Folks with minor children may needa Guardian set up as well. Brown offers a free initial consul-
tation so that all of your questions can be answered regardingthe process, the time involved, cost, etc.
“Everyone’s situation is unique so a personal consultationwith each client is vital in determining that individual orfamily’s particular needs and goals.”

The El Dorado Hills branch of Wells Fargowas the first Wells Fargo retail store in ElDorado Hills and was initially at the Raley’scenter on Park Drive. The newest location inTown Center opened in March of 1995.
The branch took first in the bank category.
Julie Campbell, Vice President, CorporateCommunications for the Northern and CentralCalifornia Region, said although there a lot ofchoices when it comes to banking, Wells Fargotakes banking personally.
“Each of our customers defines financial
success differently and personally. Knowingwhat financial success means to each of ourcustomers whether its saving or buying ahome, is the starting point for serving themwell. In addition, we offer many ways for ourcustomers to bank with us, whether they visitone our stores, utilized online banking, call our1-800 number, or use mobile banking on theirphone or tablet, we offer convenient solutionsfor our customers to bank with us,” she said.
The company has strong core visions and
values.“The reason we wake up in the morning is to
help our customers succeed financially and tosatisfy their financial needs,” Campbell said.“Our vision has nothing to do with transac-tions, selling products, or getting bigger. Itis about building lifelong relationships onecustomer at a time.”
Campbell provided some historical back-ground on the Wells Fargo Company.
In 1852, Henry Wells and William Fargo
founded Wells Fargo & Co. to provide banking
and express service to pioneer miners, mer-chants, and settlers of gold rush California.
In the Sierra foothills, Wells Fargo agentssuch as Charles T. H. Palmer of Folsom andTheodore Tracy in Placerville served minersin remote diggings with colorful names likeWhiskey Bar and Grizzly Flat. Miners dependedon Wells Fargo to exchange their gold dustinto coin, send funds to family back east, deliver mail, transport valuables, and even fileimportant legal papers.
Wells Fargo opened banking and expressoffices in many El Dorado County towns, including Placerville in 1852, Coloma in1853, El Dorado in 1855, Georgetown in 1854,Clarksville in 1859, and Shingle Springs in1865. Company agents offered essentialbanking services, reliable transportation ofgold and goods, and dependable mail servicefor customers. J. T. Gridley served as Wells
Fargo’s agent in Clarksville in 1860, succeededby merchants Lavinson & Eppinger a few yearslater.
Clarksville-now part of El Dorado .Hills-wasan important way station for miners and team-sters along the road between Folsom and Pla-cerville. Mormon Tavern, built in 1848 or 1849, was the largest of several local hotels thatwelcomed weary travelers. In 1860, Clarksvillewas a busy crossroads of the gold country. Rid-ers of the overland Pony Express galloped by onWhite Rock Road en route to Sacramento andPlacerville, bringing mail from eastern statesin a swift ten days. Meanwhile, hundreds ofwagons hauled tons of freight over the Sierrasto the silver mining regions of Nevada.
Stagecoaches of the famed Pioneer Linecarried passengers and mail across themountains on a daily schedule. In 1860, thetrip from San Francisco to Virginia City took
two days by steamship, rail, and stagecoach.Stages also carried tons of silver and golddown from the mines. Guarded by Wells Fargomessengers,
Wells Fargo’s green wooden treasure boxesoften tempted roadside bandits. Companydetectives like former El Dorado County sheriff James B. Hume brought them to justice.
In El Dorado County and across the frontier,
trains gradually overtook the stagecoach. In1856, the Sacramento Valley Railroad complet-ed the West’s first rail line from Sacramento toFolsom, and Wells Fargo’s express messengersrode aboard the first trains over the line. By1864, Nevada silver propelled the railroadeighteen miles further eastward to CarsonCreek and Latrobe, and to Shingle Springs oneyear later. The rails bypassed Clarksville, butthe town remained an important trading centerfor surrounding mines and ranches, and a
convenient stopping point for wagons on thePlacerville road. By 1867, Clarksville had aschool, two general stores, and three very pop-ular saloons. The nearest Wells Fargo officeswere located in Placerville or Folsom.
Nearly a century later, a new generation ofpioneers built the community of El Dorado Hillsnear historic Clarksville and Mormon Tavern.Today, following in the footsteps of argonauts, pony riders, and stagecoach drivers, WellsFargo continues to provide convenient financial
services to our customers in El Dorado Hills.

Tim said he didn’t choose this industry, it chose him. When he was younger, he was offered a jobopportunity so he took it and now he has been doing what he loves for the last 30 years, he said.
“I love it and I love being self employed!” Tim said.
Perryman Painting and Remodeling not only does painting, but they do it all. From lighting toflooring to bathrooms and kitchens, Perryman Painting and Remodeling has a painting and generalcontractor’s license for full services.
We are really good at making things look pretty again, he said.
