BELATEDJanuary 11th February 10thThe Hamilton Grange National Memorial, in partnership with the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society, will hold a belated Happy Birthday Hamilton! program since the site was closed on Hamilton’s birthday (January 11th) due to the NPS’ shutdown.

Nicole Scholet de Villavicencio is a historian who specializes in the Founding Era of the United States. She has spoken on Alexander and Eliza Hamilton at venues such as Hamilton Grange National Memorial,George Washington University Museum, and Schuyler Mansion, and has been featured on C-SPAN.Her talk will share insights on Hamilton’s earlylife in the Caribbean through the examination ofa letter that 12-year-old Hamilton wrote to his friendEdward Stevens. This letter, written in 1769,is the oldest extant letter written by Hamilton,and a fascinating snapshot of his early thinking.

Hamilton has been recognized for his contributions tothe founding of our nation and the establishmentof a sound financial and economic system. This talk uses historical evidence to reveal Hamilton as a warm, generous, and deeply human individualwho advocated respect for and equal treatment ofall groups in society. Mariana Oller is Chair of the AHA Society and Associate Curator of SpecialCollections at Wellesley College. Tom Oller is Vice Chair of the AHA Society and Senior Lecturerin the Writing Program at Boston University.

Marianne Als, National HamiltonAdvocate, presents The HamilShow,a two-part visual presentationabout Hamilton’s life. This workis a product of extensive research on Alexander Hamilton’s legacy.Images of related documents andhistoric locations are presented along with captivating music.
