Be careful of traffic accidents
②
Recently when I was out driving I had
to pay a fine of ¥12,000 for going less
than 20kph over the speed limit.
The reason for most fatal accidents is
inattentive driving, and there are also
many accidents caused by drunk
driving. Both should be avoided.
Drinking alcohol and
then riding a bicycle is
prohibited.
I looked up which month is most likely
to have accidents occur.
⑤
①
It would be very sad to lose
beloved family members or
friends in a traffic accident.
④
Tochigi Prefecture's traffic accident fatalities
(population of about 100,000)
Out of 47 prefectures in 2014:
10th 5.2 people (Number of fatalities: 102)
1st Saga Pref. 6.7 people, 2nd Fukui Pref. 6.2 people, 3rd Mie Pref. 6.1 people
National Police Agency: Traffic accident occurrences by prefecture (2014)
Yeah. There are more traffic
accidents in Tochigi Prefecture
than other prefectures.
The month with the most traffic accidents
in the year is... December.
Buckling your seatbelt is also very
important. Look at the next statistics!
People who died while riding in a car
Of those, people who were not wearing a seatbelt
Approx. 56.8% If they had been wearing a seatbelt, then
Approximately 81%
of the people may not have died.
③
There are also many
bicycle accidents. Bicyclists
must bike on the left side of
the road, and not on the
sidewalks. They are to turn
on a light at night.
Really?! It's better to drive carefully
and not speed in order to prevent
traffic accidents.
This 4-leaf symbol is encouraged to
be put on the vehicles of drivers
who are aged 70 or older. So, if you
see this mark, be careful.
This is a beginner driver
symbol. 1st year drivers put
it on their cars.
Yeah, so everyone really needs
to be careful about accidents.

What kind of card is the "Individual Number Card?"
○ People who want one should send in the Individual
Number Card application form or apply via Internet
and then they can receive one in January or
thereafter. It is not mandatory to have one.
○ As with a residence card or passport, it can be used
both to confirm your identity and your My Number.
In the future it will be possible to have certificates,
such as a residence certificate, issued at
convenience stores.
◇ My Number system inquiries:
National Call Center ☏0570-20-0178
For foreign language assistance, (English, Chinese,
Korean, Spanish, Portuguese), call ☏
0570-20-0291
◇ Individual Number Card & notification card
inquiries:
National Call Center ☏0570-783-578
(Weekdays: 8:30am – 10pm, Sat/Sun/Holidays:

◇ Citizen’s Division ☏028-632-5266
Foreign residents staying in Japan 90 days or more, special permanent residents, etc.
are also assigned a "My Number" (individual number).
What kind of card is the "notification card?"
○ It is a card to inform you of your My Number and is
planned to be sent to each household beginning
from early November by simple registered mail.
○ If you are not home when it arrives, you will
receive a "delivery absence notice," so have the
post office redeliver it. If the redelivery period (7
days) is exceeded, it will be returned to the city
hall, so if the period is exceeded, please contact
the Citizen's Division.
○ It is sent to the address of your residence
certificate current as of October 5, so if you
moved recently then there is a possibility that it
was delivered to your previous address. People
who do not receive a My Number should inquire
to their previous municipality.
○ It is a paper card that has your name, address,
date of birth, gender, and your My Number written
on it. When it arrives, be sure to confirm the
information. Starting January 2016 it will be
necessary for various formalities, so when it
arrives be sure not to accidently throw it away or
tear it, but put it in a safe place.
