MATERIALS ACCEPTABLE FOR BURNING• Campfirewood.• Charcoal.• Cleanpallets.• Brush(<5inchesindiameter).• Cleanlumberscraps(homeowner,atprimary

residence).

MATERIALS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR BURNING• Plywoodandpainted,stained,gluedor

otherwisetreatedwood.• Construction/demolitiondebris.• Tiresandplastics• Householdtrash.• Usedoilandhazardouswaste.• Plastic-orwax-coatedpaperorcardboard,and

magazines.Additionally,brushandcleanlumberscrapscannotbetransportedoff-propertyforburningelsewhere.

In the last five years, people in New Hampshire who violated the Open Burning law have paid fines ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 dollars.

PREVENT FOREST FIRES

It is unlawful to...•BurnbrushorothermaterialswhenthegroundisnotcoveredbysnowwithoutawrittenfirepermitfromtheForestFireWarden.

•Burninanoutdoorfireplacewithoutafirepermit.•Kindlecertaincategoriesoffiresbetween9AMand5PMexceptwhenraining.Whenraining,afirepermitisstillrequired.PleasecheckwithyourlocalForestFireWardentodetermineallowableburningtimes.

•Kindleafireforanypurposeonlandofanotherwithoutwrittenpermis-sionoftheownerorowner’sagentandawrittenpermitfromtheForestFireWardenofthetown,exceptinauthorizedrecreationalareaswheresuitablefireplacesareapprovedbytheForestFireWarden.

•Failtototallyextinguishanyfirebeforeleavingit.•Discardmatches,cigarettesorotherburningsubstancesfromvehiclesorotherwise.

•Throwanyflammablewastematerialon,near,oradjacenttoapublichighwayorprivatewayinornearwoodlands.

•FailtoreportaforestorbrushfireorfailtorespondtoaForestFireWar-den’scallforassistance.

Violationsofthelaw(RSA227-L)aresubjecttothefollowingpenalties: Violation–Maybefinedupto$1,000 Misdemeanor–Maybefinedupto$2,000,orimprisoneduptoone yearorboth.
