Our TekZone workstation hutch, which can be found on page 36, is a unique product on the mar-ket. With a spacious 40" high workspace and many accessories available, it provides technicians with a highly customizable and ergonomic workstation. The full-width handle and ingenious sliding door system ensures that opening and closing the hutch is smooth and easy with any hand position.

Our service advisor desks, found on page 75, are ideal for greeting visitors thanks to their combina-tion of aesthetics, ergonomics and efficiency. With a spacious work surface and additional options such as monitor supports, power feed panels, and waste and recy-cling containers, these desks are highly practical while also welco-ming for your customers.

Rousseau now offers a full range of corner workstations, which are presented on page 30. With four different configurations and the option to customize the product, a corner workstation makes maxi-mum use of the available space in your dealership. The workstations are 30" deep and are anchored between two cabinets to create an invaluable extra work surface at an ergonomic height (36" and 40").

Corner service counters are ideal for welcoming customers and help staff to offer fast and efficient ser-vice. The front of the counter can also display your brand colors with our personalized panels service. See page 97 for more information and to see all the configurations and combinations available.

We know that every dealership is unique. This is why we offer a line of reel cabinets that vary depending on the number of service reels required and where they are placed.• All of our cabinets are equipped with a door and/or a front access panel to facilitate maintenance (door has option of a lock);

Considerations

In order to have the best configuration possible for a technician station, the organization of service reels is a very important factor to consider. When the service reels are integrated into the workcenter, we can help you determine the best place to store them.

View from above

After an analysis of the technician’s movements between the workcenter and the vehicle, we can then recommend:

• Tool box in the technician’s proximity; under the worksurface; • Reel cabinets in direct line with the automobile, beside the work-surface. This way, the service reels do not block access to the worksurface;

• If a lot of different tools are used, we recommend that frequently used tools are stored below the worksurface, and the others in tool boxes at the sides of the worksurface.

Note: It is your responsability to check if there are any regulations regarding reel locations in your region.

The technician’s overall efficiency is increased when there is fast and easy access to tools, and direct and secure access to service reels.

currently on the market (holes are 1/4" in diameter), in addition to Rousseau perforated panels (WM53, RC43, RC44, SH38, SR39 and SH39) and utility panels (SH67, SH68 and SH69);

Mini-Racking is designed for storing heavy and bulky parts. Its many dimensions (W" x D" x H"), combined with a choice of decking, make it possible to have a custom configuration tailored to your own needs.

Rousseau offers 3 possibilities: steel decking, wire-mesh decking, and wood decking.

CASE STUDIES

Challenge: Having decided to build a new venue for its dealership, the Team Ford needed to update its service and parts departments.

Objective:To build a functional and attractive service department for technicians, and an efficient and industry-adapted storage system for the parts department.

Rousseau solution: Workstations for GT technicians for the service department, and Spider® shelving and mini-racking as well as drawers in shelving for the parts department. The Team Ford dealership had been operating out of the same building for nearly thirty years when they decided to demolish and replace it with a more modern construction. At the same time, they decided to completely revamp their storage and workstations that their employees would be using. Steve Yakimchuk, the service manager, and Kirk Rendall, the parts manager, contacted various automobile dealerships in the region to see what solutions they were using. As part of a larger automobile group which consists of 32 dealerships, Team Ford's managers had access to a number of businesses such as theirs which would have used different manufacturers for similar pro-jects. They research solutions among newer dealerships, but also at older ones that were built 10 to 15 years ago in order to see how the products evolved over time. They selected a few manufacturing companies to bid on their project, including Rousseau Metal Inc.It's then that John Fontaine, a regional sales rep for Waymarc Industries and specialist in Rousseau products met with the Team Ford to present them with a variety of options.

CASE STUDIES

Mr. Fontaine describes the work that went into the new parts department: "Together with Shawn Larson, Waymarc’s head desi-gner, we worked on designing benches that would work for each technician, yet have the wall to wall design the customer wanted with no spaces between the benches". The Rousseau expert also ensured that each technician had enough storage for his tools and that space was organized with attention to easthetics, so that, for example, the levelling glide was concealed and out of sight. When it came to the parts department, John Fontaine and Shawn Larson worked closely with Kirk Rendall to create the best possible plan for the space that Team Ford had allocated. When talking about working with Waymarc, the local Rousseau expert, Steve Yakimchuk of Team Ford stated, "They pretty much helped me from start to finish. I had a general idea of what I wanted and through poorly drawn sketches and short conversations, he came back to me with some proposed layouts and we worked to refine what we had. Their expertise is what got me to what I got now."

In the end, the Rousseau workstations gave the service department a clean and organized look and sufficient storage for each employee, with heavy-duty products that will last them for years to come. And in its new parts department, Team Ford now stores small parts in the shelving drawers, and its larger items in the mini-racking units. Hanging panels installed at the end of aisles can be used for hanging other items. Finally, the storage units specially designed for the auto industry, mainly mini-racking with rails and hooks, allow for storage of objects that are irregular in shape.

Steve Yakimchuk maintains that the service department "is a better environment. Visually, when you walk into our shop, it is organized. Because we have wall-to-wall Rousseau, each technician gets a greater work surface than if they had their own toolbox. That is probably one of the biggest benefits." One of the effects of the project that was not expected, according to the service manager, is the increased ability for Team Ford to attract new employees. He explains that "In Alberta, it is extremely difficult to find technicians. We have an employee shortage out here." With the new storage, potential technicians are truly impressed and want to work in such a well-structured environment.

Happy with the results, the parts manager at Team Ford recounts his experience with Rousseau, "We basically looked at all the products out there and at the end, I felt that Rousseau’s options were better. The big thing I like with Rousseau is their willingness to work with you and do some custom-type work. The quality is great. I think right now it is the best product available out there." John Fontaine attributes much of the success of the project to the easy collaboration with Rousseau: "There were many people at Rousseau who were involved in the success of getting this project to completion. Gerald Gustavson, Rousseau’s regional manager, and Jody Smith, Rousseau’s project manager, worked hard to meet all of my demands and requests that were extremely unique. Not many companies would have the resources or willingness to do this but Rousseau did."

The people at Team Ford have now been working out of their new building for a few months and have been very satisfied with Rousseau products. "It is definitely what I would recommend. There is all the combination of shelving and drawers and all that you need custom built for your situation."

Challenge: Find the ideal solution to maximize the space in the parts department at BMW Mississauga, and by doing so, assemble the entire inventory in one place.

Objective: Create a storage solution that would allow the client to solve the problem of having little space in the parts department, using Spider® Shelving Systems and Rousseau drawers.

Rousseau advantages: BMW Mississauga is a prestigious car dealership which serves a huge client base in the Greater Toronto Area, in Canada. This very busy garage was looking for a solution for their lack of space in the existing parts department.When Derek Copeland, Parts Manager at BMW Mississauga, came to the conclusion that the parts department needed to be renovated, he had already made his decision on which option to go with.
