LNG Compressor Solutions
In 1973, the tanker “Venator“ took to sea with an Atlas Copco
compressor on board. Since then, we have evolved into
one of the world’s most trusted innovators in the LNG
market, no matter what the application.
Then and now, efficiency is the key to great compressor
design. Equipment doesn’t only need to save energy, it
also needs to save space, which is extremely limited on
board a ship and in small plants.
Our equipment frees up valuable room for cargo. It
conserves energy and operational costs without skimping
on reliability because it’s a product of cutting-edge
engineering.
Engineering Pioneers
Atlas Copco compressors are powered by Integral Gear
Technology, a groundbreaking solution we helped
pioneer. Integral Gear Technology is uniquely versatile yet
simple.
Up to eight stages in one gearbox and multi-speed
capability maximize a machine’s efficiency while
minimizing its on-site footprint.
In addition, every compressor running on Integral Gear
Technology can meet API 617, chapter 3 and API 672
standards set by the American Petroleum Institute (API).
Atlas Copco Gas and Process compressors for LNG deliver maximum efficiency in a compact package. They are lean, power-optimizing machines built to your order and
driven by state-of-the-art technology.

BOG-Handling Solutions
Atlas Copco’s compact boil-off gas compressors are a
driving force in low-duty and high-duty applications.
They are models of reliability that outperform piston
compressors at every turn: on vessels powered by
steam, dual fuel or slow-speed diesel propulsion as
well as in off- and onshore Reliquefaction Plants, LNG
storage or regasification plants. Ultra-efficient and
dependable, our BOG compressors require a minimum
of maintenance.
Providing full BOG-Handling solutions Atlas Copco has
all Gas Heater and Vaporizer required in its scope of
supply.
Regeneration Gas Compressor
Our Regeneration Gas Compressors represent a vital
station in the onshore gas-treatment process as well as
FPSO vessels. Helping to remove water from natural gas
prior to liquefaction, they are built to fully support API
requirements.
“Every compressor running on Integral Gear Technology can meet API standards.”

Compander
The Compander, a machine that merges compressor and expander
functionalities, is another Atlas Copco original. A model of efficiency,
it is vital in saving space, energy and all-around operational costs.
Performing in its process, it increases the LNG load delivered to the
customer.
The result is an optimal solution for both offshore liquefication and for
smaller onshore plants.
Natural Gas Booster
Cryogenic fuel gas boosters permit gas turbines to release their
immense power potential by taking advantage of existing flash and
boil-off gas. The compressed BOG can be used to generate electricity
or to power compressors in the heart of gas power plants or on board
of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels.
Main Compressor Applications:
• Boil off Gas systems
• Reliquefaction Plants (Compander)
• Peak Shaving
• Fuel Gas Boosting, cryogenic and warm suction
• Regeneration Gas Compression

Magnetic Bearings
We are constantly working to boost expander efficiency
while maintaining optimal dependability, onshore and off-
shore.
Our expander compressors incorporate magnetic bearings
to ensure oil free operation. Apart from saving the space
that would have been required by an oil system, magnetic
bearings also eliminate operational wear and tear.

Main Expander Applications:
• Gas Liquefaction, small and large plant applications
• Gas Processing and LPG Recovery
• Peak Shaving
• Direct Refrigeration
All applications can be onshore or offshore.
Conquering the Oceans, Expanding Our Reach
As FPSO units emerge as the market’s most exciting arena for innova-
tion, Atlas Copco Gas and Process is once again at the forefront of high-
performance expander engineering. Our Expander Compressors for
FPSO produce refrigeration to aid on-board liquefaction as well as pro-
cessing of natural gas.
Because every square meter counts off shore, our hydrocarbon expand-
ers have a compact design incorporating magnetic bearings. Our large-
capacity single-stage expanders allow process designers maximum
flexibility as they seek to optimize performance and machinery count.

Low-Pressure In-Tank Pumps
Atlas Copco JC Carter Pumps low-pressure in-tank load-
ing pumps are used to transfer liquids from storage
tanks. Their vertical turbine hydraulic design boosts the
delivery of liquid while decreasing the amount of boil-off
gas produced, thereby reducing plant operation costs.
All pumps feature JC Carter’s HyPerInducer® , a one-of-
a-kind design developed with space age technology and
patented in 2008. The HyPerInducer® increases storage
capacity by allowing lower pumping levels and boasts
the lowest NPSH values in the industry.
Vertical turbine bowl diffusers, high-efficiency impellers
and slim-profile motors further maximize efficiency and
longevity. A robust hollow motor shaft significantly eases
maintenance.
Main Pump Applications:
• In-tank loading pumps
• Transfer pumps
• Product pumps
• Loading pumps
• Circulation pumps

High-Pressure Pumps for Regasification
Third generation submerged motor pumps for use in onshore plants
or FSRU vessels include reliable and highly efficient in-tank, high pres-
sure, and drain pumps.
High-pressure cryogenic pumps compress LNG to 100 bar during
regasification. High-pressure vaporizer feed pumps are driven by
supersynchronous VFD’s, resulting in a significant reduction in foot-
print wherever space is limited. Component modularity permits adding
stages while maintaining a constant flow.
