With regard to Edinburgh, Ifind that owing to a misapprehension -1 was improperlyinformed when I answered the noble lady’s question onFeb. 18th. I understand that in the case of post morteminquiries the Procurator-Fiscal there has from time to timeutilised the services of women practitioners, but that incases of the kind specially mentioned in Lord AdvocateMorrison’s circular of October, 1920, women practitionershave not as yet been employed. I would point out, however,that, in -general, in cases of assault or offence against theCriminal Law Amendment Acts it is necessary to have animmediate medical examination, which in practice has tobe carried out on the instructions of the police by a policecasualty surgeon. A further examination after the case isreported to the Procurator-Fiscal is rarely necessary.
