Exploring the Importance of the Very First Halacha for Pesach:

Making “Cents” of it All

SEEKING NEW YOUTH DIRECTOR Elisheva (Dietz) Listhaus has, B”H, married Daniel Listhaus and moved away from our community. We have commenced the search for our next Youth Director. The role is part-time and would primarily require programming during, Shabbat, holidays, and once-a-month activities that would take place on either Saturday night, Sundays or during the week (alternating months for different age groups and different genders). The Director is also responsible to assess which Tweens are ready to transition to the teen Minyan. The Director is responsible for all aspects of the programs, including PR, budgeting, recruitment, content, arrangements, food, etc., with the assistance of youth leaders and the youth committee. The Director will oversee a staff of college-age and high school-age staff (shul members) including a monthly management meeting, and training of leaders and be responsible for management of youth budget, including submitting youth leader’s hours to the treasurer, and proactive planning of youth calendar. It is presumed that a portion of this work will take place during the week. Professional Qualifications: The individual should demonstrate a high level of energy and enthusiasm and should have a minimum of two years professional experience in informal Jewish educational programming. The candidate should have a passion for working with children of all ages and all backgrounds. He/she should have a strong commitment to Jewish living and a strong base of Jewish education. The Director should have strong communication skills and be able to develop relationships with parents in order to get “buy in” for the programs. In addition, he/she should demonstrate a high level of accountabil-ity, planning and follow-up in order to interact with the Rabbi and volunteer lay leadership of the shul. The individual should display an excitement to try and, in fact, seek out new ideas and help develop new programming. Salary is commensurate with experience. If you are qualified and interested in the position, please contact Zev Weiner at [email protected].

An Open Appeal from An OE Member Family

A campaign has been started by longtime members of our commu-nity, who are presently struggling with the serious issue of having a family member trying to recover in rehab. They need to raise about $6,000 a month and rehab can take about a year. Please open up your hearts and help this local family keep their son in rehab. (Please note: Rabbi Kaufman and Rabbi Kaminetzky have reviewed this issue and the great need of the family and encourage all to help in this extremely worthy and life saving effort.) Please visit https://thechesedfund.com/cause/please-help-us-afford-rehab-to-save-our-son to donate by credit card or if you wish to make out a check instead of contributing online, please make it out to Congregation Ohav Emeth and in the memo write Rabbi's Charity Fund. On a separate note (NOT IN MEMO) write that it is for the Rehab Campaign.
