Celebrate this season of exceptional music, exciting performances and the special warmth that is your Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. Our opening Beethoven Festival at majestic Hill Auditorium features the power of pianist Garrick Ohlsson alongside our resident, professional orchestra. The season finale showcases Holst’s dramatic The Planets and Concertmaster Aaron Berofsky’s elegant virtuosity in one of humanity’s most beloved violin concertos. From start to finish this season is not to be missed.
Through thoughtful programming, the highest-caliber musicians, and a wide array of listening and learning options, the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra brings classical music to longtime friends and new. We make classical music – performed with exceptional quality – moving and meaningful to a broad-reaching audience.
It is in this spirit of friendship and warmth that I invite you to join me at the Symphony. Bring your friends and family, and together – musicians and audience alike – we will create the uniquely joyful experience that is your Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.
See you at the Symphony,
Arie LipskyMusic Director and Conductor

KinderConcertsAt these free, 30-minute concerts, toddlers to 5-year-olds come alive with the joy of combining music, storytelling and motion in area libraries. Supported by Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor, David and Stephanie Pyne and the Ray and Eleanor Cross Foundation.
Instrument Petting ZoosSHAR Music generously donates violins and cellos, and the Graef Foundation provides the trumpets, trombones, flutes and clarinets, so that our trained “zookeepers” can bring the instruments to a classroom, day care center, shopping mall, Summer Festival, or farmers market. Youngsters learn the parts of the instrument and the basic techniques to hold, pluck, bow, buzz and blow, and then they play instruments sized just for them.
Meet Your ConductorArie Lipsky visits schools to conduct, coach in preparation for Solo and Ensemble or Festivals, introduce students to playing the flute or cello, talk about composers and conducting, and teach leadership skills.

On behalf of the musicians of your Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, I am pleased to invite you to join us for another season of high quality, live music in the Key of A2
®. The 2015-2016 season will be filled with hopefulness (Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony), drama (Mozart’s Abduction from the Seraglio), and even a glimpse of the cosmos
