Born on the 5th of April 1990 in Sarajevo, Former Socialist Federal Republik of Yugoslavia, as the second child of a singer/lawyer and an decorator.

The family was forced to leave the “new” country Bosnia & Hercegowina because of war in 1992 and moved from Sarajevo to Munich, Germany. 14 years later, in the age of 16, Sarajevo became more interesting then Munich.

Being in an international high school (IB International, Diploma Programme), doing my Bachelor´s Degree in Product Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, based my work on the field of fashion, accessoires, interior and furniture.

Working on many projects with different organisations and institutions, was raising my wish to change my envirement and the directions of my profession. I went for my Master degree back to Germany, this time to Hamburg, to the Art school that would make me see my profession in an other way, it added an inspiring direction.

Studying at the HFBK (Academy of Fine Arts) in Hamburg, specified the interest on the theory of design, design criticism, social design by observing and learning from people, working with them on improving their lifestandards in a customized way that matches their need and their enivirement.

After two projects with a group of Master students of Jesko Fezer (ÖGB- Public Design Support) in Istanbul, Turkey and Belgrade, Serbia, the next stop was Soweto, Johannesburg. This was a 3 month project with the Master students of Marjetica Potrc (Design for the living world) in January 2014.

After the project I decided to come back to Johannesburg permanently.

Froggy table is used for flat objects to be stored open and visible (Magazines, Books, Newspapers...) The table is easy to transport, desk surface divides from the construction, which is foldable.

The idea was to make the surface look thinner, and “floating”- with a sloping edge profile, while reducing the carrying construction visually through the lightness of the profiles.

This table has no screws, the surface just needs to be pushed on the construction.

The table can be used as a side table in the bedroom, kitchen, livingroom or even in the bathroom or waiting rooms.

Personalized gifts withcharacter infographics

“If you want to make someone a real present, try to show the person the way you see it”

Infographic that shows components of a character that becomes a personal graphicon. Colour themes are subjectivly choosen. The way I see you. This graphic could be used as an application on packing paper, or packages for a present. On this object, the graphicon would be applicated on the cover. It´s explanation through the infographics would be applied inside of the package of the object.

The Present itself was a caption of bahavior, the person who owns this present would always leave coffee cups on the tables and “sign” the tables he was working on, while sketching and brainstorming. The object is an “Idea-diary” that has a cup plate inside of the cover. The cover is out of leather, the cup plate exists in two variations, one is leather, the other one is plywood. Sarajevo 2012

MONUMENT FOR 02.05.1992

“Everyone expected the occupation of the parlament. There where no official soldiers to defend it and the number of the opponents with weapons was 4 times the number of the unofficial soldiers fighting.

Anyway the occupators have been bocked of the locals, because of knowing the area and they needed to run off.”

Domino steel plates that are connected with a metal rope, which goes through each plate, are showing the courage and strength of the men that defended their city and country. Even if it seemed falling they streighten up theirselves and won against an enemy and became heroes.” Sarajevo 2012

BREAD & CLIMA

Page 17: Anja Gerin

The main idea was to show the current issue of global climate change and food shortages in a creative and interactive way, to make attention to the importance of bread, which is one of the most important nutriments. Nowadays people use very much things, that can make life easier for them, without thinking of the consequences of their actions. We live without asking ourselves the question whether the environment can participate with our lifestyle. Although we all are aware of our negative impact on the planet, we do not feel the importance ofchange, because we still have not seen or felt the catastrophic consequences. The idea is to build several “Jenga” sculptures with the basic component of bread. The Jenga Tower is a game where players pick block by block from the tower and stack it on the top of it. The sense of the game is to build a large stack tower without collapsing it. Only a wrong move and the whole system collapses and the game ends. This symbolism represents the tower, it stands for the natural balance, when we take what is irreplaceable, the system falls apart.
