Gable Hips: This roof style incorporates a raised central peak area with a hip at each end angling down to a wall which remains level all the way around

Traditionally, gables have been pitched at 17 degrees. However, we

adjust the angle upward to 20 de-grees or more to provide for just the right amount of pitch

Gable hips are the most economical raised roof pool enclosure de-sign available. The horizontal wall makes the design stream-lined and low profile

Here you can see the hip end of the gable and how it an-gles down to the end wall. The angle from the peak to the wall is roughly 35 degrees

This design has four angled cor-ners, which soften the look of the hip.

True Gables This design incor-porates a raised central peak area that is preserved all the way to the end wall on each side.

Though not right in every circumstance, true gable en-closures are a stylish and at-tractive alterna-tive to a gable hip, at a similar cost.

True gable end walls rise up to a central point which is level with the main peak. These walls will typically rise to 12’ or more depending on the start-ing height. The angle can vary from 17 to 30 degrees

Mansard: A roof design

composed of three pieces

where the two outer

pieces rise at 30 degrees

to a central, raised flat

area.

Generally rise about 4 to 5 feet from low point to high point

Include one connection at each high point

Because the raised area of a mansard roof sits level, it is generally more adaptable to atypically shaped foundations

What about the leaves?

Except under extreme circum-stances, most pool enclosures , even mansards, will remain free of leaves. All you need is a breeze and the air circulating through the room does the job.

If the pool deck is not rectan-

gular, or includes extra patio

delineate the smaller space

from the main roof area by

utilizing a flat section. This

option preserves the look of

the main roof area.

In situations where two

or more fascias or roof-

lines of different

heights are enclosed it

may be necessary to

construct a transom

screen wall to bring the

differing heights to the

same level.

The thing about pool enclosures is, unlike most conven-

tional construction techniques, the structural elements

that support the room also define it. So anything that

breaks up the orderly arrangement of supports, such as a

projection or uneven fascia, can detract from the design.
