Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
This program is offered at many CSU’s, and have been serving students for over 40 years. It is here to support first-generation, low-income, educationally disadvantaged college students. The goal of this program is to get these students into an environment to encourage these students to succeed in life and in the community. This service at the university supports students to integrate into the university, encourages the use of campus resources, and directs students to attain their academic, career, and personal goals.
MISSION AND AIMS OF EOP EOP serves its students to increase access,
academic excellence, and retention of CA’s historically underserved students.
1) Provide ACCESS opportunities by making higher education a possibility for potential students for academic success
2) Provide ADVOCACY and education to address the needs of EOP students
3)Provide TRANSITIONAL experience to empower students to better manage and navigate the college experience
4) Provide SUPPORT SERVICES to facilitate student success.
5)Provide EOP GRANTS to eligible students
Requirements from EOP students
There are different requirements for each year once you are an EOP student.
I intern with the CSUF juniors, who are required to meet with their EOP advisor at least once a semester, as well as with the peer mentor. I’m their peer mentor, so the EOP advisors are my supervisors, and I’m a peer mentor for their caseloads.

Program mission statement Core Elements
I feel like they are providing many resources to the EOP students to make sure that the students succeed. What I don’t like is that there are many students who qualify, but once they are at Fresno State, they can’t join the EOP team. Anyone can get the counseling, but the priority goes to the EOP students, who applied for EOP when they were first applying for Fresno State.
