ACROSTIC POEM

An acrostic poem is a fence around a wildlife park –

can you hear it as you write, the confined animals,

restless, pacing? They are looking for a way under,

over, through. Each line is a wire,

strong and tight. But any gaps in the fence –

the animals will find them. They won’t be kept

in. Through the gaps, the wild creatures

come. They are escaping from your

poem. Listen! The lions have broken

out.

They are

so hungry. What will they

eat?

They have been dying to

meet

you.
