Technology
1. DTS-i2. 4 valve
DTS-i
A patented technology that has made Pulsar the most followed
bike both on the road and in competition R&D labs.
At the heart of every Pulsar is one of the most sophisticatedengine technology this country has ever built. The DTS-i
System. A technological marvel that ensures maximum
performance with the lowest consumption and emission levels
possible. We will be more than happy to let a Pulsarmaniac like
you, get to know the secret behind this breakthrough Pulsar
technology.
Twin Spark Ignition
Normal ignition system has a single spark plug. The flame front
created by the spark takes some time to reach the entire
combustion chamber. Hence the burning of air-fuel mixture is
slow and incomplete.
In case of twin spark, two spark-plugs fire at the same time.
This simultaneous firing and swirl of the air-fuel mixture results
in complete combustion. This action is digitally controlled by

the DTS-i system (namely the twin spark plugs, TRICS III and
intelligent CDI)
::: Benefit: :::
Complete combustion of air-fuel mixture gives maximum power
without sacrificing mileage output.
Ensures emissions are eco-friendly
Trics III
Power and torque requirements constantly change, depending
on whether the rider is cruising, accelerating or is at high
speeds/max speed.
Throttle Responsive Ignition Control System - III is an intelligentsystem which can quickly adapt ignition timing to suit different
riding characteristics.
::: Benefit: :::
TRICS III helps in achieving a good balance between low-to-
mid range torque and top-end power.
This helps to ride easily in different conditions like flyovers,
hilly areas, dense traffic and highway cruising

Intelligent C.D.I.
The Intelligent Capacitor Discharge Ignition contains a
microprocessor, which continuously senses different speeds
and load on engine and responds by altering ignition timing.
Working together with the TRICSIII system, the
microprocessor's memory provides optimum ignition timings
for any given engine rpm, thereby obtaining the best
combustion performance.
:: Benefit: :::
Improves fuel-efficiency and reduces engine noise and vibration
through smoother power delivery.
ExhausTEC
ExhausTEC' is a device incorporated in the exhaust system. TEC
stands for Torque Expansion Chamber. It is a tuned box
(resonator) fitted onto the header pipe of the exhaust
In the lower rpm zones, the ExhausTEC helps to build a negativepressure pulse (vacuum) at the exhaust valve, thereby sucking
in more air-fuel mixture into the cylinder during intake valve
opening.
7/31/2019 A Project Reporton Bajaj Pratik (1)
18/22
::: Benefit: :::
ExhausTEC produces high torque.
Frequent gear shifting is not required in traffic, as vehicle hasability to pull in higher gears even at lower speeds.
ExhausTEC is patented by Bajaj Auto Ltd
4 VALVE
A typical 2 valve engine has just 1/3 combustion chamber head
area covered by the valves, but a 4 valve head increases that to
more than 50% area. Because of this flow area of intake &
exhaust port / passages leading to valves also get increased.
This facilitates induction of more quantity of charge (air-fuel
mixture) and also evacuation of all burnt gases inside the
combustion chamber ensure faster, cleaner & more efficientcombustion. This engine has 2 intake & 2 exhaust valves
compared to 1 Intake & 1 exhaust Valve of a 2 valve engine.
These valves are smaller & light weight compared to tha
of 2 valve engine. 4 Valves (2 Intake & 2 exhaust valves) are
introduced to improve breathing means intake & exhaust process
of engine..

Bajaj Pulsar 200NS takes on KTM Duke 200 and
Honda CBR 150R
Bajaj's latest release, Pulsar 200NS goes up against the KTM's
Duke 200 and Honda's CBR 150R to determine which
motorcycle trumps the other two. Even though the three of them
are worlds apart, they go head-to-head against each other as
premium offerings on the Indian market, sayreports.

Looks
The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS has been given a bit of a different look
than the earlier Bajaj Pulsar bikes. The bike features predator-
like headlamps, broad fuel tank and high tail light. The bike has
been given a sportier touch with the 'triple-spark' sticker on the
engine.
On the other hand, the Honda CBR 150R is way too slimmer
and lighter than CBR 250R.
The bike features telescopic forks in the front and a tube type
monoshock at the rear. The bike features a Y-shaped headlight,
layered fairing and contrasting tail section panel accompanied
by a deep set tail lamp. It has a smaller exhaust and matte black
alloy wheels.
The handlebars of KTM Duke 200 have been tapered the same
way as it has been done in Pulsars. Apart from the handlebars,
the bike includes many Pulsar-inspired features, including castalloy swing arms and blackened trellis frame too.
The bike features upside down forks, unlike telescopic forks that
are found in abundance in almost all bikes. Moreover, radiant
and bright graphics make the look sportier.

Performance and Handling
The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS has a 199cc engine featuring SOHC
liquid cooled cylinder and triple-spark technology for better
combustion. The engine churns out maximum power of 23.1bhp
and a peak torque of 18.3Nm.
Pulsar 200NS does a 0-60kmph sprint in 3.8 seconds.
The 138kg Honda CBR 150R has an engine with an
approximate displacement of 150cc. The bike features fuel-
injected and liquid cooled engine.
Honda CBR 250R makes peak power of 17.5bhp and the peak
torque of 1.29kgm.
The bike features upside down forks, unlike the usual telescopic
forks. The bike has a tube type mono shock in the rear.
KTM Duke 200 is powered by a 199.50cc DOHC 4 valve per
cylinder engine. The motor of the bike develops peak power of25bhp and maximum torque of 19Nm. It has a top speed of 136
kmph.

Verdict
The Honda CBR 150R is certainly ideal for beginners and sports
touring, but the pricing of the bike (Rs.1.17 lakh, ex-showroom
Delhi) can certainly discourage many of the enthusiasts.
Pulsar 200NS edges out the others in terms of styling and looks.
The Bajaj KTM Duke 200 is certainly more powerful than both
the two bikes. The Honda CBR 150R already lags in terms of its
price tag.
The Pulsar 200NS has a sub one lakh rupees price tag, while theBajaj KTM Duke 200 has an ex-showroom price of Rs.1.18
lakh.
KTM Duke 200 has an edge over the two as it justifies its price
with its performance. Hence, it is the winner among the three.
