Dear Scrappers:
Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe it’s
already 2016 and Just Kitting’s 10th
Anniversary!!!
Ten years ago Just Kitting was launched
when I taught my first paper piecing
class at the January 2006 PJ Crop for
Scrapology, featuring the Pink Panther
fighting Breast Cancer. When I first start-
ed making kits, I drew all the patterns by
hand (using a pencil) for about three
years until I bought a commercial printer
capable of photocopying heavy card-
stock. The letters for titles had to be cut
out until Sizzix became the norm, only to
be replaced by Cricut and then later the
Silhouette. Just Kitting was only a part-
time business that turned fulltime about
five years ago.
This month my kit tradition continues
with winter, Muppet Madness, and vari-
ous other characters for a total of 20
new releases all priced at $10 to cele-
brate 10 years.
Scrappers ask me why most my kits
have characters on them. Well, it’s my
niche. I love paper piecing cute charac-
ters, watching them come to life and
matching them punny titles.
As I celebrate 10 years, I can only hope
for 10 more. Thanks for accompanying
me on my artistic journey. It has been
one of my greatest pleasures of my life.
God Bless,
Lynn Stuart

Cartoon beagle Snoopy is a side-kick/star of the long-running newspaper comic strip Peanuts, created by Charles Schulz. Snoopy was the oddball, manic pet of lovable loser Charlie Brown. Originally a minor figure, Snoopy grew to become the strip's best-known character. His quirks were famous: sleeping on top of his doghouse, pretending he was a WWI airplane pilot or Foreign Legionnaire (in costume), showing the ropes to his bird friend, Woodstock, and even playing shortstop on Charlie Brown's sandlot baseball team. Snoopy appeared in Peanuts comic strips from 1950 until Schulz's retirement (and death) in February of 2000, and now ap-pears in rerun strips in hundreds of newspapers. Snoopy was fea-tured in "flying ace" mode on a 34-cent stamp issued by the US Postal Service in 2004, and also appeared on a 2015 set of stamps celebrating the TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas.
While struggling to become a fa-mous writer, Snoopy invariably began stories with “It was a dark and stormy night.” The phrase was originally penned by Edward George Bulwer-Lytton in his 1830 story Paul Clifford… Snoopy in-spired another popular catch-phrase, this one created by Schulz: “Happiness is a warm puppy”… Snoopy lent his name to the lunar module for the Apollo 10 space mission, NASA’s last test flight before the Apollo 11 landing of Neil Armstrong; the command module on Apollo 10 was known as Charlie Brown.

Star Wars is now vintage...so let’s flock together to see the latest. $10 Pokémon is a media franchise
owned by The Pokémon Company,
and created by Satoshi Tajiri in
1995. It is centered on fictional
creatures called "Pokémon," which
humans capture and train to fight
each other for sport.
The franchise began as a pair of
video games for the original Game
Boy, developed by Game Freak and
published by Nintendo. The fran-
chise now spans video games, trad-
ing card games, animated televi-
sion shows and movies, comic
books, and toys. Pokémon is the
second-most successful and lucra-
tive video game-based media fran-
chise in the world, behind only Nin-
tendo's Mario franchise.
The franchise celebrated its tenth
anniversary in 2006. Cumulative
sales of the video games have
reached more than 200 million
copies. In November 2005, 4Kids
Entertainment, which had managed
the non-game related licensing of
Pokémon, announced that it had
agreed not to renew the Pokémon
representation agreement. Poké-
mon USA Inc. (now The Pokémon
Company International), a subsidi-
ary of Japan's Pokémon Co., now
oversees all Pokémon licensing
outside of Asia. As of 2013, the
Pokémon media franchise has
grossed revenues of 4 trillion world-
wide (equivalent to US$37.76 bil-
lion). The brand earned $2 billion in
2014 alone.

Tom Sawyer Brushes Every morning, Disney cast mem-bers hide 5 paintbrushes on Tom Sawyer Island. If you’re one of the first five to find one, you get a Fastpass to Big Thunder Moun-tain Railroad. It’s great fun for kids and always helpful to have an extra Fastpass. Main Street Phone Conver-sation
Head over to the candy shop on Main Street in the Magic King-dom. There’s an old phone on the wall inside. Pick it up and you can list to an old-time conversation between and mother and a daughter. Very cute. PUSH the Talking Trashcan
PUSH is the talking trashcan who wanders around Tomorrowland. No, really! He rolls around Tomor-rowland interacting with guests. He’s quite funny and hard to miss if he’s in the area.
