7. Compose a Short Etude

Compose your Etude by modeling
Model composition is a great way to learn how to compose.
Choose an Etude and model it. That means you look at things like:
- Structure (form) - Texture - Rhythm - Phrase lengths - Harmonic vocabulary
Here are some examples:
Take the arpeggio pattern of Villa-Lobos Etude 1
Model the chord to slur texture of Sor’s Etude 3, op. 12
Model the two-part texture of Carcassi’s Etude 6, op. 60
Here is one I composed by modeling Tedesco’s Etude X from his Appunti
Model: I took the tremolo like texture of this Etude.
