KKM marks the 22nd successful year in
2020. It all started with a community
play back drama in 1998 until 2002
under the banner of GEEVA OLI
MANRAM. KKM has moved on as non-
profitable organization and today its
functions and principals are spread
worldwide. According to the KKM’s
constitution the executive committee
meeting is held once in three months.
This year the 55th committee meeting
was held over the phone due to the
present unavoidable situation. KKM
always maintains their role in policies
and responsibilities under any
circumstances.

Our Vision: The people of Northern Sri Lanka (recovering
from years of conflict) working together for
positive change: creating a future where rights are
protected and all are self-sufficient.
Our Mission: To work in partnership with local communities:
1. Enable them to take responsibility for
their upliftment and socio - economic
needs.
2. Help them understand and claim their
rights.
3. Ensure the care and protection of
disadvantaged persons, especially persons
affected by leprosy.
4. Work with others towards the elimination
of leprosy
OUR STRATEGY: Awareness, Education, Health and Livelihood. -
AEHL Strategy of KKM.
a) Raising AWARENESS.
b) Implementing EDUCATIONAL
processes.
c) Promoting HEALTH
d) Fostering LIVELIHOOD opportunities.
Raising awareness:
Principally through drama and theatre .This will
be the key to our strategy. Making people aware
of their short coming, needs and their rights –
using interactive drama as the principal
educational tool.
Implementing
educational processes: Supporting education at every level for children
from very disadvantaged families – particularly
children from leprosy affected families. This will
be achieved through sponsorships and loans.
Promoting health: Build on our experience of working among
leprosy affected individuals and other
disadvantage communities, and widen the support
and rehabilitation work outside the Jaffna
peninsula. We will fully support the government
leprosy elimination programme.
Fostering livelihood
opportunities: Promote traditional livelihood such as farming,
fishing, small scale industries based on the
Palmyra and coconut palms. These were lost and
destroyed during the war and need resurrection.

PRESERVE GODS CREATION AND
LOVE THE NATURE
,aw;ifia Nerpg;Nghk;. ,iwtdpd; gilg;ig ghJfhg;Nghk;.
The deadly virus Corona is taking over mankind. We
see lives all over the world withering like dead flowers
every day which is heart breaking. We are protecting us
with the universal precautions. 24x7 three weeks curfew
is a mental struggle to all, many with daily income
earners, struggling for the basic living.
Always work in harmony with nature. I enjoy the
creation and its beauty. Gardening is a gift for my
healthy living, I have an organic vegetable and green
leaves garden and use natural fertilizer. As I have no
water facility, I
was using
neighbours well to
water my plants.
KKM was
impressed with my
work, supported
me to built a tube
well in my garden.
Which was a
blessing and encouraging to go forward with my
ambition of becoming a successful gardener. I have
seasonal crops to suit my soil and extended my garden
which is generating
more income. I have
employed two staff
from the local
community. Our
products are sold in
neighbourhood and in
the community. People
love buying the
vegetables from me.
Because it’s safe, healthy and nutritious. Because of this
healthy food habit our community is able to challenge
the COVID 19 even though we live in the third world
country.
I live along the sea side in Batticaloa which is a real
challenge to do gardening. My own experience in
gardening is a challenge to be successful, and its an
enjoyable challenge.
Thanking you all.
Susiraja.

Ganasekaram Tharmalingam
living in Unionkulam in
Kilinochchi with my family of
five children all in higher
school. Resettling after the war
was a mental trauma. I was a
daily gardening labour for others. It was a struggle
to make a living. My wife started working in
coconut fibre factory. Unfortunately, she had a
mishap in the factory lost both her arms. Our life
was miserable and shattered. She needed full time
care which me and my children shared. This
situation made me to do home gardening.
At this difficult times of our life KKM was God
sent to us. They supported emotionally, comforted
us and installed sprinkler systems, donated plants
and many other needs. I was able to extend my
garden for more crops and income. I was really
thankful for the irrigation system which made my
work load easy and save time. I was able to
generate more income for living. With the present
Curfew restrictions, I am very proud to serve and
share my products to my neighborhood for a very
reasonable price. Following the universal health
and safety practice.
KKM has always given us many awareness
programmes, workshops in Agriculture, natural
fertilizer, healthy food habits, Native plants, yams,
roots and green leaves. Also conducted food
demonstrations in native products and awareness of
rich and high in food value to boost our immune
systems. I have shared my knowledge inspiring my
community with healthy wellbeing. I am sure we
all can fight these challenges to eradicate COVID
19 by putting healthy food habits in practice. I
thank KKM for preparing the community well head
to face this challenge. In future I will continue to
inspire many more in the community to follow safe
and healthy food habits for happy life.
HEALTH IS WEALTH.
Thanking you all.

Premalatha living in Katupulam Jaffna with
my family. My daily prayers for those who
have been affected by COVID 19 and to their
families at these difficult times. Continuous
curfew in Jaffna is really a challenge to live.
KKM generously supported many of us in the
community. Which was a blessing. They built
tube wells, supported to set up a home garden and donated coconut
seedlings. Vegetables, green leaves and fruits from my garden is my
source of daily income. I have poultry and cattle. During these
challenging times we share our products with neighbourhood following the
health and safety issues. Our healthy food habits being from home
products has stabilised our immune system to fight any germs and
diseases.
Kunam living in Panduvati Jaffna. I was a leprosy
patient. At this time KKM built a tube well and a motor,
donated coconut seedlings for my living. Now I have
enough coconuts for my daily income. KKM has been
always giving us awareness on healthy living and food
habits. I live on organic products, native plants and
nutritious food. This is keeping my immune system
strong. During these difficult times of continues curfew, I am proud to help out my
neighbours sharing my products.
Anbalakan living in Panduvati Jaffna with my family. My daily
prayers are for the affected by COVID 19 and their families. After
the end of Civil war and struggling times KKM has supported me in
many ways. I am a fisher man and as a family we do home
gardening using every bit of our land. We have an organic, natural
fertilizer garden, fruit trees, poultry, and cattle. We live on these
nutritious healthy foods and we make our living selling to
the community. Due to 24x7 three weeks curfew we are
sharing our products with local community, following the strict health and
safety regulations. Mostly we have healthy food habits and live on native
green leaves which has sustained strong immune system to protect from all
the deadly virus and germs.

Sritharan living in Panduvatai Jaffna with my family.
Living in the midst of crises. The whole world is shaken
by fear. Curfew 24x7 last two weeks and for how long?
It’s for our own protection.
We are able to live healthy with the gift of mother
nature, providing edible native green leaves, yams, and plants and living in
harmony with nature. KKM has supported us in many ways. Always
encouraging and motivating in chemical free gardening, natural fertilizer,
awareness of healthy food habits for wellbeing. We love gardening, it helps
to get fresh air, get connected with nature, relaxing, regular exercise and
awarding. Living in this life style has boosted our immune system to
challenge any illness.
Selvam living in Panduvetai Jaffna living
with my family and grandchildren. I am a
Gardner. With the help and support of
KKM, I was able to set up a garden. They
built a tube well and donated coconut
seedlings to start with. I have many organic
vegetables, coconuts and Murunga trees all
along the fence. I have native green leaves and plants in my garden. Selling
all these products brings my daily income to live. At this difficult time of
continues curfew we are all stuck home working together in our garden. My
neighbour hood community comes to buy vegetables and coconuts from me.
We are able to live on our garden products. We make sure to follow the
health and safety regulations at these times. We always eat our home-grown
vegetables and live a healthy lifestyle. I am sure most of us in the village
have their own vegetable garden and fruits and living healthy. Our healthy
food habits have built up a strong immune system to fight against any illness.
I thank KKM for all their support during these difficult times.

Selathurai Kumar living in Unionkulam Kilinochchi with my family and three
children. Resettled in Unionkulam after 30 years of civil war in an empty dried
land was a struggle and no water facility. Gardening only in Rainey season was
my income to bring up my family. It was very stress full and restless life. During
these difficult times KKM supported many of us to start our living. I was a keen
farmer. They built a tube well and fixed a motor to start with. It was a blessing to
me and my family. Without wasting time, we were able to start our garden as a
family. My family had ample to live on and I started generating income selling all my products. We were able to
buy cattle and goats, and chickens. I was able to use the waste of cattle’s make my own compose as natural
fertilizer for my plants and using all the native leaves to protect from pests. I had an organic healthy garden.
KKM has given us awareness and workshops in many aspects of Agriculture, Farmers dialog, open food forum,
and cooking demonstrations in promoting native green leaves and plants and healthy food habits and values
During these difficult times and curfew, I am able to support the neighbourhood selling my products for a very
low price, or even free of charge. I am sure all the farmers join together and practice these healthy living styles
we will have a strong immune system to fight any challenges in our life. I thank KKM for preparing us well
ahead and to be strong.
