Principal’s Corner
Hello Lions!
It is hard to believe that we are almost done with the
third quarter of the year. Our students have been busy at
Freshman mid-year check in, ASB elections for next year and
dodgeball just got under way. Our planning has begun for
next year and we are working hard to build the student and
teachers schedules for the 2019-20 school year.
We have a lot of changes going on around campus with
all the projects funded through Measure U. Our softball fields
are set to open toward the end of March which includes a
beautiful concrete pathway out to the stadium. The demoli-
tion has begun out at the stadium and we are hoping to begin
building over spring break with a completion date in August.
The new Maintenance and Operations buildings out by the
student lot are moving along and should be completed in July.
We have been putting in the gravel pads for all the portables
moving out by the varsity baseball fields over the summer. It
is exciting and we can’t wait to see it when it is finished.
Take some time to wind down over spring break and
relax, because when we get back it will be full steam ahead
until summer vacation!
Have a great Spring Break!

Get Real Academy 2019 - On March 7, 2019 Liberty High School counselor Tanya Silva and
Career Center Coordinator Christina Salinas invited 15 young ladies to attended the 2019 Get Real Academy. This nonprofit organization, is sponsored by the seven Soroptimist International clubs in Central and East Contra Costa County. Working with their members and community partners they host workshops for the young ladies that cover the topics of how to get a job and
keep it; managing money and credit; women’s health; domestic and workplace violence awareness; and mock interviews. Aside from being served a delicious breakfast and lunch, the young ladies get to hear a real life FBI agent share her experiences and encouraging words to the girls on being kind to one another, staying away from drugs, and follow their passion.

On December 22, 2018 Lyndsie Memory
took 6 students from her PUSH class up to Chico to deliver all of the socks that were col-lected. It was a heartwarming day filled with emotion. Liberty was represented by these girls and everyone was so appreciative of the gesture. We visited the university and then
dropped off socks to the ice rink and a local church. Talking with people and hearing their stories was heartbreaking and seeing the devastation can’t be ex-plained in words. But Paradise will rebuild and while the structures may be destroyed, their spirit of commu-nity is stronger than ever. Thank you to all who donat-ed-they will be in need for many years but it’s heart-warming to know our Liberty family could help in some way.

Ms. Ceja and Mrs. Memory
took their two PUSH classes on a tour of UC Davis on Fri-day, February 22nd. After the tour, we met with a group of students from the EOP pro-gram who talked to the stu-dents about life on campus and what the EOP program has to offer first time college students. Then the group had lunch and time to browse in the student store. It was a great day and the students were enthused about the cam-pus. They were impressed with the number of bicycles there were on campus be-cause it is so large!
