Open Door Alarm - Door Alarm Congratulations on purchasing the MotorMonitor Door Alarm, an Australian owned and designed product. Your decision to invest in protecting your Canopy and Toolbox will save you the time and cost of repair and or replacement.

Note if you want to view a colour version of this document its available at:

Installation Door Alarm is supplied with 1 port. It is designed for a single cable harness that supplies the door sensors and Power. Note that should you wish to upgrade to the full MotorMonitor Engine Monitoring product, this cable harness will plug seamlessly into port 3 and continue to alarm for an open door.

STEP 1 Test before install Plug the supplied harness into the single port of the Door Alarm and power the unit by plugging the cigarette plug into the socket in your vehicle. Turn on the ignition switch to either accessories or on. The alarm should NOT sound. Note the sensors have magnets attached to them and should not sound or alarm. If an alarm tone is heard, check all magnets are attached to each sensor with tape. After proving that no alarm sound is heard, remove one magnet from a sensor to prove that the alarm tone can be heard. This action simulates a door to the canopy opening when the ignition switch is on.

STEP 2 Mount Locate the best position for mounting the Door Alarm unit within the Cabin where it can be heard (e.g. under floor mats or around or behind the centre console) STEP 3 Loosely lay out harness on tray/tub within or around toolboxes Lay the harness out in the rear tray / canopy area and locate the three sensors loosely where they are needed. IE if installing 3 sensors lay them next to the 3 doors that need to be alarmed.

STEP 4 Drill holes in canopy / toolbox Drill hole(s) close to the doors that need to be alarmed allowing access for the sensor harness to the tray/tub. This may be single hole for a canopy or one for each toolbox. Ensure you feed cable through and fit grommets provided and or silicone the holes to avoid water leaks.

Figure 5 Hole for harness (this harness is fitted with a plug to enable removal as the canopy is the canopy if a jack off type)

Note this canopy is removable so a separating plug is fitted. STEP 4 Feeding harness from tray/tub into the cabin Feed the cable from the rear tray/tub in through a hole provided into the cabin by the vehicle manufacturer. You may need to remove a rubber plug and either cut a slot or hole in this plug to feed the RJ45 (the connector that plugs into the Door Alarm Box) through this hole. Also feed the power socket through this hole (if necessary it may need to be dismantled to make it smaller). Ensure you refit the plug and seal with silicone once you have installed the cable.

STEP 5 Fitting Sensors Once the cable sensors are inside the toolboxes simply mount the sensors using double sided tape (supplied) and screws (supplied) or silicon glue as preferred. NOTE: Ensure arrows are aligned on each sensor pair, otherwise they will not operate correctly.

Note: additional wiring self adhesive pads and adhesive (including screws and cable ties) may be used to attach the wiring to the toolbox to protect them. In this case a rubber mat is fitted to the toolbox protecting the cables. STEP 6 Testing the Door Alarm With all the canopy or toolbox doors closed, turn on the ignition switch and confirm that no alarm tone is heard. (If an alarm tone is heard, check the magnet alignment with all of the door sensors.) Progressively open and close each door and confirm that the alarm is activated.

Congratulations on the successful installation of MotorMonitor’s Door Alarm!
