Yi (Hyderabad Chapter) Global Excellence Learning Mission to
Suzlon, Cybage, ElectroMech, Tata Motors & Thermax 21-22 Nov 2013: Pune
Yi Hyderabad organized a Global Excellence Learning mission to Suzlon, Cybage, ElectroMech, Tata
Motors & Thermax on 21-22 Nov 2013 at Pune.
The objective of this Mission was to provide a learning platform to Yi members and help them to
understand the best Practices adopted by these companies and how these companies have successfully
managed to evolve business excellence models in their respective sectors.
The charged up team headed for the exciting day with lots of fun & bonding.
A warm welcome was waiting at Suzlon
Energy Limited, is an Indian
multinational wind power company based
in Pune. Mr. Miresh Seth, Asst. General
Manager - Program Management at Suzlon
with Mr Nitin A Gurav, Executive, Global
Learning & Development cordially welcomed
the Yi members and introduced them to the
environment friendly Suzlon campus.
Mr Nitin took Yi members for a guided tour
to Suzlon and explained that Suzlon is using
Natural daylight and sunlight harvesting
mechanism. Entire campus has glass
layering. Below parking they constructed
underground water harvesting plant and
every drop of water from washroom, cafeteria etc is used is reused he said.
He also briefed Yi members that wind and solar hybrids are installed in the campus and email servers are
made on green power. Giant Glass cylinders are installed for ventilation and natural light. Ms Dharini
Gupta, Brand Manager interacted with Yi members and explained about the investment opportunities in
turbines and explained about IPP model.
Suzlon visit was very interesting in terms the scale, innovation as well the vision of the company,
adherence and execution of ancient Indian aspects of structural sciences as well as architecture was the
additional plus point.
The mission then visited Cybage Software Ltd - a
global information technology provider of outsourced
software product development and application
development and maintenance. Mr Arun Nathani, CEO &
Managing Director & Ms. Ritu Nathani, Director of Cybage
welcomed Yi members to Cybage campus.
Mr. Arun in his presentation depicted about the Wonder years of Cybage and interacted with Yi members
on leadership and his journey to success. The take-aways for Yi members was the inspirational
interaction with Arun Nathani who really spoke from his heart and took all the members along in his
journey through Life, Career and Cybage. His stress on Data analytics, Being humble, Re-innovation and
the thrust on Value Proposition was very educative.
A warm welcome was waiting for Yi members at
ElectroMech, the largest EOT cranes manufacturer in
India. It offers precise solutions for wide-ranging
applications in manufacturing plants and infrastructure
projects through a complete range of Hoists and Cranes.
Upon the arrival, Mr. AVR Murty, CEO, ElectroMech Yi
members for a walk through the facility explaining multi
level storage area, Loading and painting area of cranes.
During his interaction he said that they are Exclusive
partner for ABUS in India and a most innovative company
which doesn’t encourage manual handling to avoid
accidents.
The Interaction with the Mr. Tushar Mehendale,
Managing Director of ElectroMech was another highpoint ,
where his
emphasis was on
teamwork and in case of partnership, he recommended that
the partner has to have his skin in the business as in risk
capital.
He shared his personal vision to have a professional
organisation and told members to get out of the mind block
that there is no one better apart from them in the market.
Growth is possible only with the help of team work,
Continuous process of learning, he added. Mr Tushar focused
on the new design to come up with new sleeker model in
cranes which will be more efficient
The day one of the visit ended with the blast at Olive where Yi Hyderabad & Pune members had a fun
social evening.
The day two started with the morning Maharastrian breakfast &
sheer bonding with Yi Pune members which was the best and
the most enjoyable part.
The plant visit to Tata Motors, largest manufacturer in Indian
automotive industry and leader in commercial vehicles, and
among the top in passenger vehicles was also a great learning
experience. The mission started with the corporate presentation by Mr. Ram Hudlikar – Asst. Manager,
Administration.
The stress on what is right for the country is right for the business and giving value to a human being as a
employee and that gets returned was an eye opener for all the Yi members. The presentation given by top
managements depicted that it is a major automobile
manufacturer of utility vehicles, passenger cars, pickups and
commercial vehicles.
Mr. Shrirang Dhavale - Div. Manager, CSR – HR, Tata Motors
briefed members about various TATA products, and that the
66% of products are manufactured by the proprietor. CSR is
what they feel like doing and giving back to the society. It's
should not be mandatory.

During the plant visit members got to see the silver ghost vintage, Outdoor testing tracks, Production
engg dept, Transmission division, Chassis line, Press shop, Auto staming line- Robots, Car engine
manufacturing unit , Trim line, Safari trim line.
The mission ended with the visit to Thermax D Ltd. an Indian energy and environment engineering
company based in India and Britain. It manufactures boilers, vapour absorption machines, offers water
and waste solutions and installs captive power projects.
Mr Adwait Kamat, Plant Incharge at Thermax during his
interaction mentioned that Themax’s core competency is Energy &
Environment. He also took a guided tour to the facility to show
members the Welding & plasma fitting, Grinding activities, Shop
floor - manufacture parts of boilers, Assembly of boilers, Types of
boilers, range of boilers. Members also got to see how the Flat
plate is converting into cylindrical shape.
The mission was appreciated by one and all.
20 Yi Members participated in this 02 day mission.
