Look at what the Sprinter OFFERS customers
Sprinter is the pioneer that led the way to Euro-style commercial large vans in the United States. Ford Transit copies the basic design principles of Sprinter but does not offer all of the features that make a van a true Euro-style van. Ford, Ram, and Nissan all have competitors to
the Sprinter. Of these, Ford’s Transit is closest to Sprinter in basic design and is the segment’s volume leader. However, Transit cannot match Sprinter’s superior number of configurations or its reputation for reliability and cost efficiency. The callouts examine Transit and ProMaster.

Transit is the segment volume
leader, but Transit CAN be beat!
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
Sprinter Cargo Vans are available in more configurations than Transit, with more efficient
use of cargo space. Ford Transit does not offer a Crew version of the Cargo Van for
specialized applications where passenger- and cargo-carrying capabilities are required.
WHEELBASE Sprinter Cargo Vans with
the 144" wheelbase surpass the Transit
130" wheelbase vans in all major comparative
categories.
WHEELBASESprinter Cargo Vans with
the 144" wheelbase provide capabilities to compete against the Transit with its largest
148" wheelbase..
WHEELBASE 170" wheelbase
Sprinter Cargo Vans surpass the capabilities of the Transit with the 148" wheelbase and
even the 148" EL wheelbase.

Sprinter Cargo Vans are by far the most capable vans in the marketplace
and surpass the next competitor by at
least 21.7".3RD GENERATION WITH A PROVEN DESIGN. May not be the segment leader in sales numbers but is the overall leader in capability, innovation, proven dependability, and cost efficiency. This guide gives you the proof of that.
TRANSIT TAKES OVER FOR FORD E-SERIES, the prior segment leader. Both E-Series and Transit benefit from Ford’s large dealer network, reasonable efficiency, and cost benefits that are associated with a standard gasoline engine.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:
Sprinter Super Single has a notable advantage over the Transit 350 SRW. Build the story
with our customers to ensure that they fully understand how much more can be done by
purchasing a Sprinter Super Single Cargo Van.
TECHNICAL TIP: PALLETS Space usually means pallets. Dual rear-wheel commercial vans don’t have the space between the wheel wells that appeal to a buyer with “pallet needs."
Super Single advantages versus the competitionBeats Transit 350 SRW
in virtually all categories: cargo volume, payload
capacity to carry that cargo, and GVWR.
Appeals to any customer who needs to haul heavy
payloads and needs space between the
wheel wells.
Provides great dimensions for carrying pallets over the Sprinter
3500 with dual rear wheels.
Ford does have Transit 350 SRW models, but they do not surpass Transit in the important specs of payload and cargo volume, especially the 170" wheelbase
Transit Super Single.

Sprinter vs. Transit Cargo Vans
Sprinter Cargo Vans give you significant advantages (highlighted in blue) in four areas important to your business.
Superior capability
SPRINTER AND TRANSIT BOTH PROVIDE A WIDE SELECTION of Cab Chassis and Cutaway models. These are designed to meet the needs of vocational buyers who require cargo-hauling capability as well as those who require a platform for upfits.
Sprinter is available in two wheelbsases (both 3500 with dual rear wheels). Transit offers three wheelbases.
Sprinter and Transit both provide a wide selection of Cab Chassis and Cutaway models.
POPULAR CONFIGURATIONS
Transit may have more configurations, including a single rear-wheel version, but for popular configurations, Sprinter is there to meet customer needs (e.g., Luxury RVs).
MORE PAYLOAD
Sprinter provides more payload capacity than any Transit configuration – up to 6,200 lbs. That’s what customers in this segment look for, load-carrying capacity.
11,030 GVWR
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is how Cab Chassis models and Cutaways are measured. At 11,030 pounds GVWR, Sprinter is the obvious winner over Transit.
DIESEL POWERED
Diesel engines are synonymous with this segment. Transit comes with a standard gasoline engine. All Sprinter Cab Chassis and Cutaway models are diesel powered.

Sprinter and Transit are major competitors in carrying passengers.
Sprinter focuses models on the
highest volume
SPRINTER AND TRANSIT ARE MAJOR COMPETITORS in carrying passengers. This is another segment where Ford provides greater selection within the segment, but where Sprinter focuses models on the highest volume to meet the needs of our customers. They have proven themselves as comfortable, inviting vehicles enjoyed by both drivers and passengers.
But Sprinter has major advantages:
POPULAR CONFIGURATIONS Transit may have more configurations, including a dual rear-wheel HD version. But for popular configurations, Sprinter is there to meet customer needs.
MORE PRESTIGE Provides a higher level of prestige and has a proven track record in the North American market. Both Daimler AG brands have a strong reputation of “quality, safety, and innovation" in the United States.
MORE PACKAGES & FEATURES Significantly higher level of packages and features that more closely match specific customer needs and requirements. Examples include the Driver Comfort Package, Driver Efficiency Package, Active Safety Plus Package, and more.
DRIVER ASSIST FEATURES Leads the segment in features that can enhance the driving experience for drivers, regardless of their experience level.
4X4 EXCLUSIVE A segment-exclusive 4X4 version is available with Sprinter.
GENEROUS CARGO ROOM Provides plenty of room for cargo and luggage behind passenger seating – up to 100.5 cu. ft. behind the 5th row seat.
13
Sprinter stacks up exceptionally well against its primary competitors.
MORE CHOICES Covers all aspects of the commercial van segment, including Cargo, Cargo Crew, Passenger, Cab Chassis, and Cutaway. Only Transit comes close to this coverage.
HISTORY MATTERS In its third generation, Sprinter is the most established of the Euro-style vans in the United States.
CARGO AND PASSENGER CAPABILITIES 170-inch wheelbase provides significant cargo- and passenger- carrying capabilities unequaled by the competition.
THE METRIS ADVANTAGE Expands the Mercedes-Benz lineup, especially when competing against low-roof and short wheelbase designs.
NO ONE DOES DIESEL BETTER An all-diesel engine lineup that is fuel efficient, long-lasting, and will actually reduce overall vehicle costs when considering costs over the life of the vehicle.
CARGO ACCESS & PAYLOAD From a work perspective, Sprinter provides superior cargo volumes, notable access to the cargo, area and high payloads.
UNIQUE FEATURES Higher levels of unique features and benefits and packaging that target true and specific customer needs.
MERCEDES-BENZ TECHNOLOGY Includes standard and available technology features unique in the segment.
SPRINTER ADVANTAGES:
Ford Transit and Ram ProMaster are Sprinter’s primary competitors. Here are some high-level
points that you can bring up to your cross-shopping customers.
Positioning Sprinter vs. the

Positioning against the competition
POSITIONING AGAINST TRANSIT
Superior low-roof advantage. Sprinter’s low-roof version is about 10 inches taller than Transit’s, which is the height of a traditional van. This makes the Transit low-roof version more of a competitor to the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana.

Commercial van buyers look to maximize efficiency while balancing economy and dependability. Keeping the van on the road is essential. So just selling on price doesn’t work. Instead, present the whole story of what Sprinter can provide and how well your service department will stand behind it.
SPRINTER FEATURES AN ALL-DIESEL ENGINE LINEUP that is superior for overall fuel economy, dependability, performance, and long-term durability. While our competitors may appear to have a lower price, when they’re configured with diesel engines, the price becomes more comparable – a fact that needs to be pointed out to prospective customers.

SPRINTER 4X4: SNOW, ICE, MUD… NO PROBLEM!
Introduced as a late 2015 model, Sprinter is the only available commercial van with factory-installed 4-wheel drive.
AGAINST RAM PROMASTER… All the previous points apply. In addition, with Sprinter, there’s the efficiency provided by rear-wheel drive when 4X4 is not activated. Ram ProMaster lacks in capability, fit and finish, efficiency, and virtually any other comparative benchmark.
Do they have a Crew version of their Transit Cargo Van?
Do they lead in payload?
Do they have the cargo volume as well as the capability of a 170" wheelbase cargo van?
And, most important, can they provide a van that efficiently and
effectively fights snow and ice?

MAJOR SPRINTER FEATURES
No other Crew Van provides Sprinter’s capability to haul a full load of gear and equipment as well as up to five occupants. For certain vocations and applications like oil and gas, utilities and much more, Sprinter Crew Van is the answer to the customer’s work needs.
THE COMPETITION SAYS… THE RIGHT VAN FOR THE JOB.
Your counter: ProMaster Cargo Van is a good competitor, but when you look at all the possible configurations of the Sprinter, the advantage goes to Mercedes-Benz. Note that the Sprinter uses only diesel power and rear-wheel drive – just to name a few specific differences. When considering all the configuration possibilities as well as significantly higher levels of capability, there’s no way that ProMaster can equal the Sprinter, let alone have any claims as a superior vehicle.

COLLISON PREVENTION ASSIST – The system can provide visual and audible warnings if an imminent collision is detected. In addition, the system will assist the driver’s braking, if necessary, when the brakes are applied.
Blind Spot Assist – Optional feature uses radar technology to recognize vehicles in the blind spot in the rear part of the vehicle. A red triangle in the exterior side view mirrors alerts the driver to approaching vehicles. A tone sounds if the driver actuates the turn signal to indicate a lane change and there is a vehicle present.
Crosswind Assist – Standard feature functions at over 50 mph to detect strong gusts of crosswind and automatically apply the brakes on one side of the vehicle, helping the vehicle stay on course.
Lane Keeping Assist – Optional camera-based feature helps prevent accidents from the vehicle unintentionally leaving its lane. Communicates with the driver through steering wheel pulses.
PARKTRONIC with Active Parking Assist – Optional feature helps the driver when searching for and maneuvering into and out of both parallel and perpendicular parking spaces. Parking spots can be searched for at speeds up to 18 mph. When a parking space is found, the driver confirms the parking spot. In the case of parallel parking situations, the system can also be used to maneuver out of the parking spot.

A LEADER IN SAFETY
INNOVATION
Since its introduction Sprinter has continually evolved with safety and driver assist technologies, often being the first vehicle in the segment to actually receive these technologies. Simply put, Mercedes-Benz leads by leading, not following, the competition.
Driver Assist Features: No other manufacturer offers this level of safety technology in the small commercial van segment.
