2014 | THIS YEAR, IT’S PERSONAL.
As triathletes, our lifestyle is Personal. As a company made up of triathletes, we take what we do very seriously. For us, it is Personal. We swim, bike and run for a ton of reasons. We choose to make it a lifestyle. Our families choose to make it a lifestyle with us or support our choices in the lifestyle.
I chose the cover photo of 2013 Ironman™ Lake Placid Champion Jennie Hansen because it perfectly captures the emotion of her first Ironman win. I’m sure the level of Personal for her goes so deep I won’t even try to speculate. But I get it. This is how we all felt when we finished our first tri. And we keep feeling that way – whether we PR, nail our game plan on race day or even just overcome training obstacles at any distance. We get the same flood of emotions over those little things. Don’t worry. It’s ok to admit it.
Me? I’ve made triathlon my career. My wife and I started doing triathlon 14 years ago. It’s my lifestyle. It’s my job. For me, it’s Personal. My typical work week includes the weekend more often than not, and I consider myself lucky for that. I get to work and play and love what I do. All at once.
My wife Kristi does 2-3 Ironman races, 2-3 70.3 races and 2-3 other races a year. She has a busy job, a husband who travels more than he’s home and kids who have their own activities, but she consciously (and admirably) creates time to train and race. For her, it’s Personal. It keeps her sane and is a shining example for our daughter to see how she balances family, life, work and play.
IT’S PERSONAL.
Our son Jake is 15 and races on the USAT Youth Elite Draft-Legal circuit. He’s on a youth triathlon team that trains together six days a week. We fly to races around the country for him to qualify and race in the National Championships. He’s a runner who has latched onto triathlon with the goal of competing in the Olympics someday. For him, it’s Personal. He wants to create a lifestyle for himself that could one day turn into his career.
Next year, our 7-year old daughter Sienna gets to follow in our family’s triathlon footsteps. We can’t wait for that. Neither can she. For her, it’s Personal. It’s what our family does, and is just a normal part of life.
And finally, in September 2014, QR will be a big part of the inaugural Ironman™ Chattanooga. For everyone at our company, it’s Personal. We’re excited for you to come to our hometown for some Southern hospitality during race week. I guarantee it’ll be a blast. And because it’s Personal, I plan to be on the start line with you guys on race day.
Share with us this year on our Facebook page or Twitter how triathlon is Personal to you. We want to hear from you, because it’s what we love. #itsPersonal

GO QR. Fit Compatibility Guarantee
QR has more fit capability in our line than any other tri bike
manufacturer. We have three different bikes with three distinct
geometries. We know that there is a QR bike that can be properly fit
to you. If your local retailer is having an issue perfecting your fit on one
of our bikes, call us at 800-229-0198 for some help. We want you to better
understand the dynamics of your fit and how it relates to our bikes. No one
knows our bikes better than us. We guarantee it.
A Complete Shift in ApproachOur engineering team designs using real-world race feedback alongside
wind tunnel data, so they can be certain that an innovation like SHIFT
Technology will make a bigger difference to you on race day than to
a test dummy. What matters to you, matters to us. That’s part of
the reason Triathlete Magazine called the CD0.1 design “the
most innovative in the past decade from any brand.” Strong
words from a respected name in our industry, for sure,
and backed up by both the data and countless wins on
the race course.
Indeed, our SHIFT technology, the radical 18mm offset
in the down tube lauded by pros and insiders alike –
available on both CDO.1 and Illicito models – is meant
to push the envelope as much as it’s meant to push the
airflow toward the clean, non-drive side of the bike.
Always at The Leading EdgeIn 1987, Quintana Roo sent Ray Browning to Ironman New
Zealand with the first bike specifically designed for triathlon,
the Superform. Since then, the continued goal for QR has been to
innovate, year after year, the way in which triathletes use the bike to gain
an advantage across the full race. So, after the Superform, we introduced the
Lucero. After the Lucero, it was the award-winning CD0.1. After the CD0.1, we
launched the Illicito. This year, though, it’s personal. We’re incredibly proud to
introduce the 2014 QR PR – a bike that awaits your best effort and a Personal
Record on the other side of all that training, hard work, and dedication.

GO PEDRO.Until the age of 14, I was a Nintendo™ junkie, food lover, lazy and
had very low self-esteem. I couldn’t run more than a mile, I was
the one who skipped sports class in school, and I was seen as
the fat kid who would never be an athlete. One day someone said
I would never win any race that didn’t involve a remote control.
After graduating in Computer Science I was determined to show
them. I’m 29 now. I compete across the world as a professional
triathlete, work out more than 25 hours per week, live without
much, but race against the world’s best in long distance
endurance races. I was the first athlete ever from Portugal to
break 8:20 over the Ironman™ distance. To me, it’s Personal. I’m
showing them.

GO CAIT. In 1995, I was a single parent with two active young girls (Cait and Mikaela),and
we stumbled into triathlon. From day 1 we were hooked. Cait and I have been
competing in all distances since that time. She went on to become one of the top
American Ironman™ pro triathletes (Cait Snow), and I went on to become a full time
triathlon coach. We both met our husbands through triathlon, and all of us have
seen the world and have met some of our best friends through this amazing sport.
In 2011, my youngest daughter Mikaela fell so in love with the village of Kailua-Kona
that she moved there! We are so lucky to be living the dream. Oh yeah – it’s very
Personal for us.

According to USAT, almost 40 percent of triathletes are women. That’s not lost on us. Your family, neighbors and friends look
up to you because you seem like a superhero when you manage to balance the impossible – being some combination of parent,
spouse, significant other, employee, chauffeur, or family chef – all while training for triathlon. It’s just what you do. You make it
Personal, too. We admire your toughness. Rock it.

GO JENNIE.Racing has shaped my life since I started
running cross country in middle school and,
through triathlon, it continues to create lasting
memories. My husband and I train and compete
together (although neither of us wants to lose!),
and triathlon has given me the opportunity to
travel interesting places and meet countless
great people. For me, it hasn’t been about being
the best; it’s been about being my best. I’ve
been fortunate enough to find my passion in
triathlon and to be able to pursue it every day.
For me, it’s Personal.

GO BRADY.Triathlon is much more than a race to me. It’s more than
early morning alarm clocks, sore muscles and the feeling of
accomplishment when you set a new PR. Triathlon means
that a young child is going to have a chance at life...literally.
As a father of a son with Down Syndrome, I have all the
inspiration I need to take on the countries toughest and
most grueling endurance races. Through the funding and
awareness that is created during these races, orphaned
children who have Down Syndrome find homes and a loving
family to call their own. For me, it’s Personal.

We’re not just a triathlon company designing the best, most
usable and well-thought out bikes in the triathlon world.
We’re fans too. On race day, we’re at the races or following
along online – not just highlighting results. If you’ve ever
stopped by our booth at one of the over 100 expo days we
invest our time in each year, you know that. Stop by and visit
with us at an event. You’ll be glad you did.
As the only top to bottom triathlon brand in the sport, we
know that people look to us for answers, advice, assistance
and support. We know that we don’t have all the answers, but
a whole bunch of our friends do. We like these people. We
are 100% invested in their success, just like they are 100%
supportive of us. They are more than just part of our team,
they’re part of our family. These people are making
triathlon better.
Each of the athletes listed below represent the true spirit of
triathlon to us, from Mary Eggers’ work in support of cancer
charities to Jesse Kropelnicki’s QT2 coaching program to
Sonja’s fantastic blog. We invite you to stop by our site and
take a minute to learn more.
GO TEAM.

GO BO.At 12 years old, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. For the next
13 years, I fought the disease, and a vicious cycle of flare ups and
remission, with everything I had. Surgery was recommended on more
than one occasion, but I was afraid. I fought on, until the day my body
shut down. I felt my stomach distending, before slipping into a coma
and being rushed to the emergency room. The very thing I feared most
became a reality. I received an outpouring of love from family and friends
that was nothing short of overwhelming. My friend, who dropped by the
house one day, had just competed in a triathlon. The more my friend
described the experience, the more interested I became. I’d done a bit
of cycling and running and swimming in the past, but had never been
an endurance athlete. Once I could walk, I started to bike. Once I could
bike, I started to swim. Less than five months after my surgery, I stood
on the starting line of my first triathlon. It was time to ‘toe the line’ and
see what my new body could really do. That very morning surrounded
by other ‘healthy’ athletes was the beginning of something that has
single-handedly redirected the purpose for my existence! When the gun
blasted, I never looked back and finished first in my division that day.
