14 Pentecost
Welcome to St Petri, a
local church in Jesus’
mission to bring his love
and hope to bear in
each other’s lives and
that of this community. It
is very good that you are
gathered here in the
presence of Jesus in a
Spirit of love and hope!
Another real life word on
the real life business of
being the church of
Jesus in the world comes
our way today. Hope for
the pressing problem of
conflict and what to do
with it when it turns up, is
freely shared by the
Saviour who is telling his
friends that he is already
on the way to making it
possible for the best and
most complete
forgiveness of human sin.
Even in the holy church
of Jesus, people are still
people and we will let
each other down. Our
debt to each other is
only love, and yet this
debt will never be fully
paid to each other this
side of the new heaven
and earth.
So, we get some
practical steps, some
real help and some
direct challenge to
practice this privileged
acceptance and
undeserved love we
have received from him
already, so that we
remain better together
as co-workers in Jesus
kingdom mission.
Hear of his forgiveness in
the heart. Receive his
forgiveness in the heart
and then take the call to
be a forgiver from the
heart, rather than a
demander of rights and
judge of those different
or those who have
harmed you. It is the
superior way to go,
according to Jesus.
In his forgiveness, and in
the peace it brings to
our lives,
Pastor Adrian

MOVIE NIGHT Do You Believe? Join us for the next movie Night at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Hall on Sunday 10 September at 7pm. A dozen different souls - all moving in different directions, all longing for something more. As their lives unexpectedly intersect, they each are about to discover there is a power in the Cross of Christ … even if they don’t yet believe it. When a local pastor is shaken to the core by the visible faith of an old street-corner preacher, he is reminded that true belief always requires action. His response ignites a faith-fueled journey that powerfully impacts everyone it touches in ways that only God could orchestrate. More than a movie, it’s a question we all must answer in our lifetime: DO YOU BELIEVE?
Rated M and still just $5 which gets you a drink and popcorn as well as the movie.
All are welcome! Bring a friend!
The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel
Before the movie and the soundtrack (Which we have in Store), it was a book... about a man who tried to prove to his wife that this “Christianity” thing she’d just started was all nonsense. Lee takes us through his journey of coming to faith. He has also written a Kids version and a Kids Devotion book.

We pray ...
• Heavenly Father, as we respond to voting in the plebiscite on same sex marriage, give us wisdom, patience, and perseverance. Help us to remain faithful in our relationships and to honour the union of marriage as your good gift for partnership, sexuality and the blessings of family life. Help us to practice love. Guide our leaders and our parliament and grant them wisdom in making laws to govern our land. Help us praise you and acknowledge all your blessings, including those of sexuality, relationship, and marriage.
• We remember in our prayers those of our church family whose homes are now in aged care. We pray for health and strength for those who care for, work with and visit the residents. We ask for good health for our elderly as they battle viruses and may they know that they are loved and their hearts be filled with God’s peace and joy.
• We pray for God’s healing and peace for those of our church family who are ill, facing medical treatment or recovering from surgery - and those who care for them: Freda Mibus, Pastor Robert Voigt, Rosemary Lange, Janet Harris, Margaret Kleinig, Lorraine Stiller, Pat Hausler, Stella Schulz, Valerie Parbs, Eric Hailstone, Trevor Angel, Rosemary Angel and Joan Leahy.
• We pray for members of our church family: Peter, Marianne, Serena & Zarlee LANGE, Graham & Sandy SMITH, Sandra & Graham RUWOLDT, Martin & Glenda SCHULTZ, Brett, Jane, Nathan & Sonia GEYER.

Training Demonstration - Defibrillator (AED) Tuesday 19th September 4.30 pm in St Petri Hall. We encourage all who are our volunteer first aiders in our usher teams, staff, leaders of any groups and anyone interested to come along to a training demonstration on how to use our defibrillator. This demonstration will be put on by Red Cross. It does not take the place of first aid training but aimed at informing us how to use our particular model of defibrillator. Please let the office know if you can attend: 8562 1011 or email [email protected]
St Petri Redevelopment I briefly mentioned the redevelopment project in my notes last month. A comprehensive information booklet outlining the details of the proposed St Petri Re-Development will be available to all our congregation members soon. Our Redevelopment Committee have continued to work tirelessly on the proposal for many months now. Their considerations over this time have taken into account the queries and suggestions that were discussed subsequent to the initial concept plans. The Governance Council endorse their work and urge you to participate in the decision-making processes that will be available over the coming weeks. The Redevelopment Committee expect that the congregation will be in a position to vote on the revised proposal in October.
Thanks to our office staff. I would like all our members to join with me in thanking our office staff for the outstanding job that they do on a daily basis. Our office team represent the parish and especially St Petri as the public face of our church here in Nuriootpa. They are the initial contact or connection that people have with our church when either phone calls or personal visits are made. Our staff deal with a very large demographic and social-economic spectrum and are therefore personally challenged on occasions and under some circumstances. Please support our staff both in prayer and with your personal appreciation.
150th Anniversary Celebration We will celebrate the 150th anniversary over the weekend of 10-12 November. There are many ways our members are able to participate in these celebrations – join the choir, dress up and be part of the re-enactment cast, attend the special celebration dinner and obviously attend the worship services over the weekend as well. I encourage you to check the bulletin or contact the organising committee to get involved and help make our 150th celebration a special and memorable occasion!
Pastor As most of you will be aware, Pastor Kitson has received a couple calls over the last few weeks – one to the NSW District and another more recently, to the Redeemer North Geelong congregation in Vic. Although Pastor Adrian has not provided any indication to the wider church that he is seeking a call to leave our congregation, he nevertheless has to give any calls he receives due consideration. The Governance Council are reassured that our challenge to bring the love and hope of Jesus
to all people within the 5355 community will continue to challenge, inspire and provide
fulfilment to Pastor Adrian as he continues to be led by God in his ministry with us.
