Craig Brown is one of the few illustrators who use stippling to create his illustrations -- dots are used for values of light and dark instead of lines. See next slide for close-up.

Stippling -- dots create the light and dark values. Color is added over the dots.
Pointillism is similar but in that technique the color itself is composed of dots.
