Open Source Software-FLOSS
Software made and distributed in this way is also called “free software.” This label is slightly ambiguous because of the meanings of the word “free” in English. It can mean “without cost” (gratis) or “free to copy and re-use” (libre). Some advocates have adopted the acronym FLOSS, “free/libre/open source software” to clarify the meaning. Zotero is FLOSS: “free” in both senses of the word.

citations to Wordpress, e-book readers and more.

AdvantagesO Zotero Everywhere, a major new initiative
generously funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is aimed at dramatically increasing the accessibility of Zotero to the widest possible range of users today and in the future. Zotero Everywhere will have two main components: a standalone desktop version of Zotero with full integration into a variety of web browsers and a radically expanded application programming interface (API) to provide web and mobile access to Zotero libraries. Retrieved from http://www.zotero.org/blog/zoteros-next-big-step/
AdvantagesO Providing Zotero support offers libraries an
opportunity to diversify their services and educate their users in new information tools. Librarians have found that supporting reference management software has resulted in increasing users’ familiarity with other research tools, increasing awareness of other instructional services offered by the libraries, and in general improving visibility of library services on campus.
