leader, I would never maketerms with Israel. That is natu-ral: we have taken their coun-try. Sure, God promised it tous, but what does that matterto them? Our God is nottheirs, we come from Israel,it's true, but two thousandyears ago, and what is that tothem? There has been anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler,Auschwitz, but was that theirfault? They only see onething: we came here and stoletheir country. Why should theyaccept that?"

i her statement to'he Sunday Times

Since the period of Western world domination, hegemony and colonialism, Zionism has been athorn in the side of the lovers of justice, peace

and oppressed peoples around the world. Zionist-con-trolled Western media gives us a picture of "Israel" thatmakes it seem democratic, just and fair. It portrays anyforms of resistance as terrorist and evil. Our picture ofthe situation has been tainted, diluted and censored bythe very people who have been committing this blatantinjustice and oppression for the last 53 years. It isalmost as if we have been getting told the story ofWorld War II and its effects from the perspective of theracist and criminal Nazis. The reality of the situation isthat Zionists have been oppressing, torturing, killingand ethnically-cleansing Christians, Muslims, blacks, whites and any other color or ethnicity you can thinkof, yet the world community has stood silent.

Ever since its inception over a century ago, Zionistideology and practice has sought to ethnically-cleanseand "purify" Palestine from its original inhabitants. Ithas always been the policy of the Zionists to find astate for Jews. Over 4 million Jews have been illegallymoved to Palestine (with the assistance of Britain andthe United States), where they are given full arms andencouragement to use force to uproot the Palestiniansfrom their native homeland. What we have witnessedas a result has been a Nakbah (Catastrophe) that hasseen thousands of Palestinians killed and nearly 5 mil-lion left without homes, jobs, schools or places of reli-gious worship, be they Muslim or Christian.

People often wonder why the world community isso indifferent to the situation today in Palestine if the"Israeli" atrocities are as bad as the Palestinians andtheir sympathizers make them seem. Since the incep-tion of the illegitimate state of "Israel," 70 U.N.Resolutions have been founded condemning the stateof "Israel" for its unparalleled abuse of human rights, illegal usurpation of land and legalization of torture. No country on earth has been the subject of moreharsh U.N. resolutions than the state of "Israel." Of the475 original Palestinian villages present before usurpa-tion, 417 (87%) have been demolished and exploded, many of them with people herded up and throwninside before the explosions. The "Israeli"-apartheidregime continues to build colonies, expand and occupythe holy city of al-Quds (Jerusalem), a land of greatreligious importance to Jews, Christians and Muslimsalike.

If it were not for the assistance of the world powers

of their respective times,Britain and the UnitedStates, the catastrophewould not be where it istoday. Prior to the for-mation of the state,Britain assisted theZionists in exporting610,000 Jews from vari-ous parts of the world toPalestine to make wayfor the eventual incep-

tion of the illegitimate Zionist entity we know today as"Israel." From the illegal Balfour Declaration thatsought to establish a "national homeland for the Jewsin Palestine" to the mass immigration projects of 1947,Jews from all over the world were being sent in flocksto live in a place where they had no territorial affilia-tion with whatsoever. After the War of 1948 that sawthe Zionists take over nearly three-fourths of Palestineand uproot over 750,000 native Palestinians from theirhomes, the handling of the Zionists was transferredfrom Britain to the U.S. No country has received moreforeign aid (gifts, not loans) than the Zionist entitysince 1967, the year of their complete takeover. Over25 percent of all American aid currently goes to theApartheid regime and since its illegal inception, "Israel"has received $85 billion in American aid. Since whendid oppressors and usurpers of land deserve foreign aid?

As the Zionists continue to colonize, torture andethnically-cleanse in the name of the "peace process"and the Americans continue to fund them, we as peo-ple of conscious who stand for justice and the right ofself-determination of all people, feel it to be our basicduty to expose Zionism, its evils and its effects. Wepropose for the rightful inhabitants of Palestine to beallowed to return to their land, live with dignity, underfundamental human rights and have the right to sover-eignty, self-determination and independence. The veryprinciples that Americans value so highly for them-selves continue to be denied to Palestinians with theunflinching support and funding of the United States.Zionist-controlled world media has been purposefullydistorting and misconstruing world events too long. They continue to flaunt guilt-rendering phrases like"Never again," but has it really been put into practice? To find an honest answer, ask a Palestinian, Iraqi,Bosnian, Kosovar, East Timorese, or Cambodian tofind that the answer is a resounding NO!

"ISRAEL'S" NUCLEAR WEAPONSproof of their relentless terror

"D:(espite refusals to comment on the issue by theIsraeli government, the Israelis clearly have a size-able nuclear arsenal. There are two interesting

loopholes in Israel's oft-repeated pledge never to be the firstto introduce nuclear weapons into the region: the U.S.'introduced' weapons in the region in the 1950s whennuclear bombs were stored in Dharan, Saudi Arabia and atsea in the Mediterranean Sixth Fleet. Also, it is believed thatIsrael might not keep her nuclear weapons fully assembled — keeping them a 'screw away from comple-tion."

"...the highly capable and well-equipped Israeli force would more than suffice in the nuclear weaponsdelivery role, particularly with U.S.-supplied aircraft such as the F-4E and F-16. However, Israel has alsoproduced ballistic missiles, against which its potential enemies have no defense. The Jericho I missilesuffices for its immediate adversary, Syria, and the Jericho II brings the entire Middle East under Israel'srange, particularly Iran. The Shavit space launch booster could also be adapted to a long-range nucleardelivery role, and given the decision, Israel would be able to develop an intercontinental ballistic mis-sile."(http-.llwww. cdi. org/issues/nukef&fldatabase/nukestab. html)

Identified "Israeli" Weapons Facilities:

'8 strategic weapons plants2 airbases2 missile factories

1. Dimona: Nuclear fuel depot. Oncedescribed as a "textile factory." Produces 40 kgof weapons grade plutonium every year for the past 10-20 years. The entire facility is protected by U.S.

anti-aircraft defenses.2. Rafael: Missile development site. Rafael is the "Israeli" ministry of defenses high-tech weapons andresearch development organization. A 1987 Pentagon report describes warheads and March 7 re-entryvehicles for "Israel's" ballistic missiles as being developed at Rafael. Advanced rocket motors and anti-ballistic missiles are under development here as well.3. Nes Zionyaa: A chemical/biological warfare facility.4. The Bor: "Israel's" strategic underground command post located beneath defense ministry complex inTel Aviv.5. Soreq: Wesapons research. Soreq is the equivalent of the U.S. national weapons lab and is consideredby the Pentagon to be among the most sophisticated operations in the world.6. Tirosh: Nuclear storage clearly visible from space.

Satellite photos have been taken of many of these facilities. The most specific and detailed informationabout "Israel's" nuclear weapons program was made public by a former mid-level technician namedMordechai Vanunu. Vanunu worked at the Machon 2 facility of the Dimona plant. He worked therefor 9 years until his involvement in pro-Palestinian politics led to his dismissal in 1986. Vanunu hasclaimed that "Israel" possessed fusion boosted weapons, and has developed hydrogen bomb technology.

During the Six-Day Warbetween "Israel" and the ArabStates, the American intelli-gence ship USS Liberty wasattacked for 75 minutes in inter-national waters by "Israeli" air-craft and motor torpedo boats.Thirty-four men died and171 were wounded. Survivorscite numerous falsehoods inthe "Israeli" account. "Israel"claims the attacking jets circledthe ship three times looking fora flag and that no flag wasflown, contrary to reports bysailors on the ship who stateotherwise. As Tom Clancywrites in his book The Sum ofAll Fears; "The key to it, Qatiknew, was whether or not theAmericans would put real pres-sure on the Zionists. They'dnever done so. They'd allowedthe Israelis to attack anAmerican warship and killAmerican sailors - and forgiventhem before the bleeding hadstopped, before the last victimhad died. When American mili-tary forces had to fight for everydollar of funds from their ownCongress, the same spinelessbody of political whores fellover itself giving arms to theJews." Understandingthe plight of therefugees...

UN Resolution 194 (III) ofDecember 11,1948:

;'the) to return to their

homes and live at peace withtheir neighbors should be permit-ted to do so at the earliest practi-cable date, and that compensa-tion should be paid for the prop-erty of those choosing not toreturn and for loss of or damageto property which, under princi-ples of international law or in theequity, should be made good bythe Governments or authoritiesresponsible." Also, the articles ofthe Fourth Geneva Convention of1949 provide the legal groundsfor the return of the Palestinianrefugees to their lands anderties.

Nothing demonstrates moresharply the uncanny power ofmodern propaganda to con-trol minds, sway emotionsand brutalize people than theZionist propaganda on theArab refugees during the pastdecade. It literally succeededin turning black into white, ablatant lie into a truth, a gravesocial injustice into an act ofjustice glorified by thousands. It has turned clever peoplewith more than average intel-ligence into starry-eyed fools, believing everything they aretold, and has converted kindlyand gentle men and womenwith a strong sense of mercyinto fanatics, insensible to thesuffering of any peopleexcept their own. In no otherway can this writer explainmany paradoxes which theArab refugee problem hascreated in Jewish life."

A PEOPLE WITHOUT A LANDthe Palestinian refugee crisi

CC Because we took the land, thisgives us the image of being bad,of being aggressive. The Jewsalways considered that the landbelonged to them, but in fact itbelonged to the Arabs. I wouldgo further: I would say the origi-nal source of the conflict lieswith Israel, with the Jews - andyou can quote me on that. 55

-Chief of "Israeli" Military Intelligence, quoted in the Armed Forces JournalInternational, October 1973

The United Nations Relief Works Agency's(UNRWA) latest figures show that therewere some 3,573,382 Palestinian refugees

registered with the agency in 1998. While thenumber reflects those Palestinians registered withUNRWA, these figures by no means include allthe refugees, since many failed to register with theUN agency. UNRWA's definition of "Palestinerefugees" and their descendants "shall mean anyperson whose normal place of residence wasPalestine during the period June 1, 1946 to May15, 1948 and who lost both his home and meansof livelihood as a result of the 1948 conflict." Thewar did not end on May 15, 1948, however. Itcontinued and more people were displaced afterthe conclusion of an armistice agreement in 1949.

In a study conducted by the United StatesCensus Bureau, the number of Palestinians in thesixteen Middle Eastern and North African coun-tries was estimated to be 6,450,000. Today, themajority of Palestinians are living outside histori-cal Palestine, and most, if not all, are unable toreturn to their homeland. The refugees are a sub-section of this larger Palestinian population, whose members have been living a life of exilethroughout the world.

The Zionists say that "Israel" is too small totake back the refugees that were expelled in 1948.If "Israel" is too small, then how does the landaccommodate the 800,000 Russian and EasternEuropean Jews who have been streaming into"Israel" since the collapse of the Soviet Union?

THE RESISTANCE MOVEMENTSagainst zionist aggression

HIZBULLAHfighting oppression in lebanon

Overview: Although their primary goal has always been resistance to "Israeli"expansion into southern Lebanon, Hizbullah operates a wide array of social wel-fare programs. They construct hospitals, institutions for higher learning, researchinstitutes, orphanages and centers for the physically disabled. They give financialassistance to young couples to construct businesses, and train people for trades inhandicraft, agriculture, etc. Their humanitarian assistance is available to the entirelocal population, regardless of religious denomination, or even religion.

Current Situation: Hizbullah scored an important victory on May 25, 2000, whenafter 22 years of occupation, they forced "Israel" to withdraw from SouthernLebanon. A strong, stable force in an unstable region, the Hizbullah have, inmany instances, successfully resisted "Israeli" aggression and illegal expansion intosouthern Lebanon. The Hizbullah mainly attacks "Israeli" army posts, while theZionist army responds by indiscriminately shelling defenseless Lebanese cities

and villages - including heavily-populated Beirut - killing innocent civilians. This occurred during the Qanamassacre in April 1996, in which 1,000 helpless civilians were attacked in a United Nations refugee facility.Hizbullahs political ideology is pan-Islamic and therefore anti-nationalist, anti-Imperialist, anti-American andfervently anti-Zionist. Hizbullahs leaders see the formation of an Islamic Republic of Lebanon as merely a prel-ude to the liberation of Jerusalem - as well as the rest of th Holy Land - and the establishment of a universalIslamic political system without reference to current political borders within the Islamic world.

Overview: Hamas is the Islamic Resistance Movement, specificallya Palestinian movement uprising against "Israeli" occupation andin support of the liberation of Palestine. It is composed of admin-istrative, charitable, political and military elements. Most ofHamas funds and efforts are directed toward assisting the popu-lace. Sarah Roy, a visiting scholar at Harvard University, notes,"Hamas runs the best social network in the Gaza Strip... struc-tured and well organized, Hamas is trusted by the poor (Gaza'soverwhelming majority) to deliver on its promises." Senior offi-cials at the U.N. Relief Works Agency acknowledge that Hamasis the only faction they trust to distribute UNRWA food dona-tions to the people. Its funds are used in helping the poor, build-ing mosques and schools and other charitable work. The grouphelps create economic programs establishing self-sufficiency forthe people. Its leaders have a deserved reputation for honesty infinancial affairs. They tend to live modestly, often in poverty. In

the Gaza Strip, for example, their homes are not situated in the wealthiest neighborhoods, as are the homes ofso many notables of Fatah - a Palestininan movement founded by Yasser Arafat. Owing to that, they are morein touch with the ordinary people.

Current Situation: Hamas issued long-term goals in April 1994, saying it is NOT opposed to the principle ofpeace as long as: 1) "Israel" completely withdraws from the occupied territories; 2) setders are disarmed andsettlements dismanded; 3) international forces are placed on the green line established in the occupied territo-ries during the 1948 and 1967 wars. Hamas has been careful to avoid an inter-Palestinian conflict. It has for-bidden the use of violence as a solution to factional differences.

Corruption in thehouse of Arafat

an oppressor to thePalestinian people

"The prize that Arafat got for hiscooperation in the ParisEconomical Summit of 1994 wasall the profits of the oil taxes. Bigmoney, Big corruption. But beforewe blame the Palestinians forgoing along with that, we shouldremember that Arafat and his cor-rupt administration could not havestayed in power, if not for theIsraeli army that has never leftthe territories."

-Prof. Tanya ReinhartYediot Aharonot, April 7, 1997

"Within the Palestinian Authority(PA) [under Arafat's control] thereis an office entitled GeneralControl (GCO). In May it issued areport that included a startlingclaim: because of corruption,$326 million, roughly one fourthof the PAs budget, disappearedin 1996."

-Roni Ben EfratCorruption Under Arafat: the Legislators

"Israel has transferred slightlyover NIS 1.5 billion [about $350million] in tax refunds toPalestinian Chair Yasser Arafat'spersonal bank account at a TelAviv branch of Bank Leumi, sincethe signing of the economicagreements with the PalestinianAuthority in April 1994.

-Ronen BergmanHa'aretz Correspondent

"The Palestinian Authority's'deplorable' human rights recordhas been extensively document-ed. Without extenuating PA culpa-bility, it bears recalling that Israelrecruited Arafat precisely in orderto facilitate repression. ThusRabin boasted that the PA wouldquell Palestinian resistance."

Zionist massacres

April 9-10, 1948: The massacrethat became the symbol of Zionistaggression for the Palestinians aswell as Zionist treachery. For twodays Zionist terrorists killed men, women and children. They rapedwomen and stole their jewelry.Around 250 people were murderedin cold blood. Of them 25 pregnantwomen were bayoneted in theabdomen while still alive. 52 chil-dren were maimed in front of theirmothers.

ZIONIST TORTUREexposed

Rrhaps most notable in "Israeli" practice is the[istitutionalization of torture as a normal part»f the interrogation process in dealing with

Palestinians. This was well established in a LondonTimes investigation back in 1977, but it has beenmaintained and eventually enlarged in response tothe Intifadah, and given open, official legal status. Areport of Justice Moshe Landau in October 1987concluded that "moderate physical pressure" is legit-imate when interrogating Palestinians, which ledone Israeli Knesset member to ask: At what voltagedoes an electric current applied to one's testicles stopbeing "moderate physical pressure?" This gross per-version of human and civil rights became Israeli lawand legitimized torture, without any reaction what-ever from the West.

It is now standard practice to handcuff, blind-fold, insult and beat, and often further torturePalestinian prisoners, including small children, many of whom are psychologically shattered bytheir experience in the hands of security police (ShinBet, also called Shabak) interrogators. An April1992 report by the Israeli human rights groupB'Tselem estimated that 5,000 Palestinians had beentortured in the prior year, or some 420 per month.Every few months there is a small back page articleabout another Palestinian prisoner who died in jail

during or after "interrogation." In one case in 1992,a young man named Al-Akawi, brought to courtafter "moderate physical pressure," looked so badlybeaten and unwell that the judge took the "unusualstep" of giving the Shin Bet only eight more days forinterrogation. But by 5 p.m. the next day theauthorities summoned Al-Akawi s father to comeand remove his son's body.

Zionist massacres

YEHIDA MASSACREDecember 13,1947:

ofYehida(near Petah Tekva, the first Zionistsettlement to be established) metat the local coffee house whenthey saw a British army patrolenter the village. They felt a senseof security especially since Jewishterrorists had murdered 12Palestinians the previous day. Thefour cars stopped in front of thecoffee house and out stepped mendressed in khaki uniforms andsteel helmets. It soon becameapparent, however, that they hadnot come to protect the villagers, but were Zionists disguised asBritish troopers. They sprayed a barrage of bulletsinto the crowd that had gatheredinside the coffee house killingmany of the patrons. Some of theinvaders placed bombs next toArab homes while others tossedgrenades at civilians. For a while itseemed as if the villagers would beannihilated, but a real British patrolhappened to pass by, ending thewell organized, Zionist raid.

AL-SHEIKH VILLAGEMASSACREJanuary 1,1948:

ists armed withhand grenades and machine gunscrossed into al-Shaikh village. They attacked the houses on theedges of the village with hand-grenades and machine-guns,killing around 40 of the Palestinianinhabitants of the village, mostlywomen and children.

HEBRON MASSACREJanuary 1,1948:

Ariel Sharonportrait of a zionist war criminal

On Feb. 6, 2001, Ariel Sharon was elected PrimeMinister of "Israel." CNN calls Sharon "a barrel-framed veteran general who has built a reputationfor flattening obstacles and reshaping 'Israel's' land-scape." As the rest of the brain-washed world con-tinues to buy into the propaganda spewed by themass media, we must look into history to deter-mine who Ariel Sharon is. Sharon is a war crimi-nal, not only according to those who have beenaffected by his wrath, but by his very own govern-ment.

* Spring 1982. "Israel" invades Lebanon. After atwo month offensive, which kills more than 17,000people, mostly civilians, the PLO, under U.N. pro-tection, withdraws from Beirut, leaving theirunarmed families behind.

* Sept. 16, 1982. Start of a brutal, 3-day massacrewhich claimed the lives of over 2,000 people in theSabra and Shatila refugee camps in Lebanon. The62-hour rampage included the murder of infants, children, women (including pregnant women) andthe elderly, some of whom were disembowledbefore or after they were killed.

* Sept. 16, 1982. Sharon announces 2,000 "ter-rorists" remain in the Sabra and Chatila camps. These mythical "terrorists" prompt a small advanceby "Israeli" tanks - contrary to an agreement withWashington - towards the Palestinian camps. AFrench U.N. officer who tries to photograph theadvance is shot dead by an "unknown" sniper.Sharon repeats his claim that "terrorists" remainedin the camps.

* As the Christians prepared to bury their assassi-nated President-elect Bashir Gemayal, Sharonorders the "Israeli" army into west Beirut to"restore order." "Israelis" then ask the ChristianPhalange - armed and uniformed by "Israel" andallied to "Israel" since 1976 - to enter the "Israeli"-surrounded camps to "liquidate" the "terrorists."

* Witness to the scene of the Sabra and Shatilamassacres, New York Times columnist ThomasFriedman writes, "Mostly I saw groups of youngmen in their twenties and thirties who had been

lined up againstwalls, tied by theirhands and feet, andthen mowed downgangland-style withfusillades of machine-gun fire."

* Souad Srour Al-Mere'eh is one of the survivorsof the massacre. She was only 14 years old whenher family was terrorized in the Shatila camps."They ("Israelis") know he is a butcher and theystill want him as their leader," she said. As a younggirl, she was witness as three militiamen raided herhome, lined her up with her 12-member familyagainst the wall and machine-gunned them, leavingthem bleeding and dying. Her three brothers andtwo sisters were killed on the spot. Her woundedfather also died but not before he saw the militia-men returning to rape his daughter. Souad recalls,"I was already wounded and bleeding when theyraped me. They did it in front of my injured father, then shot him dead. They also shot me in the leftarm and hit me with a rifle butt on my head beforethey left."

* Mariam Saleh, another survivor, recalls how shesaw militiamen throwing Palestinian boys in a hugecrater they had dug with a bulldozer on the out-skirts of the camps and the bulldozer dumpingsand on them. "They buried them alive," she said.

* Sharon was forced to resign his ministerial postin 1983 after an "Israel" inquiry found him "indi-rectly responsible" for the massacres of Palestinianrefugees in the Sabra and Shatila camps in Lebanonby Lebanese Christians.

This is the legacy of Ariel Sharon; the legacy of aZionist war criminal. And, it is Ariel Sharon who isthe current leader of the state of "Israel."

The massacreat Qibya

r 14-15,1953:t of an

s carried outby units from the regular army and inwhich a variety of weapon typeswere used. On the evening ofOctober 14th, an "Israeli" militaryforce estimated at about 600 soldiersmoved toward the village. Uponarrival, it surrounded it and cordonedit off from all of the other Arab vil-lages. The attack began with con-centrated, indiscriminate artillery fireon the homes in the village. Thiscontinued until the main forcereached the outskirts of the village.Meanwhile, other forces headed fornearby Arab towns such as Shuqba,Badrus and Na'lin in order to distractthem and prevent any aid fromreaching the people in Qibya. Theyalso planted mines on various roadsso as to isolate the village complete-ly. As units of the "Israeli" army wereattacking the village residents, unitsof military engineers were placingexplosives around some of the hous-es in the village and blowing them upwith everyone in them. This attackcontinued until 4:00 A.M., October15,1953, at which time the "Israeli"forces withdrew to the bases fromwhich they had begun.

This terrorist attack resulted in thedestruction of 56 homes, the villagemosque, the village school and thewater tank. Moreover, 67 citizenslost their lives, both men andwomen, with many others wounded.

Ariel Sharon, the commander of the"101" unit which undertook the terror-ist aggression, stated that his lead-ers' orders had been clear withregard to how the residents of the vil-lage were to be dealt with. He says,'The orders were utterly clear: Qibyawas to be an example to everyone."

The government of "Israel" claimedthat the massacre was carried out by"civilian Jewish settlers." But recordsshowed that it was sanctioned byacting Prime Minister MosheSharrett, and was planned byDefense Minister Pin Has Lavon, theChief of General Staff MordacaiMaklet, and Chief of Operations,General Moshe Dayan. On October26th, General Van Bennike testifiedbefore the UN Security Council. Hegave irrefutable evidence that theattack on Qibya was undertaken byregular army units of "Israel" and notby irregulars as claimed by official"Israeli" sources.

-Unrest spread to the West Bank. Palestinians began a sus-tained uprising. After 10 days, "Israeli" soldiers had killed 17Palestinians.

-By the end of the month the United Nations SecurityCouncil approved a resolution that "strongly deplored""Israel's" brutal handling of the Palestinian protests.

-"Israel" incarcerated nearly a thousand Palestinian protesters.

-"Israel's" brutality was criticized by the United States andEngland. In response to the worldwide outrage at their treat-ment of the uprising Palestinians, "Israel" announced that itwould seal off the Occupied Territories. Journalists were notto be allowed in without a military escort.

-This sparked massive protests by Palestinians, because Sharon was responsible for the murder of morethan 800 Palestinians at Sabra and Shatila in the "Israeli" invasion of Lebanon in 1982.

-United Nations Resolution 1322 by the General Assembly condemned "Israel's" excessive use offeree. Italso called for the prevention of illegal acts of violence by "Israeli" settlers.

THE PRICE WE PAY,u.s. foreign aid to "israel"

When it comes to U.S. aid to "Israel," Americantaxpayers are kept in the dark by politicians of bothparties and by the media. You will never hear yourlocal politician or your local media outlet speak inthe open about the level and breadth of U.S. aid to"Israel." It is U.S. taxpayers money that is fundingthe "Israeli" military occupation, making it possiblefor "Israel" to expand settlements and imprison andtorture innocent civilians. This aid is voted on byCongress every year and is supported by both par-ties without much opposition or debate. It is timethat we stopped supporting an apartheid system inOccupied Palestine.

Martyred before our eyesThe world watched as 12-year old Muhammad al-Durra, protected by his father, was gunned downand killed by "Israeli" gunmen. This incident, which was sponsored by U.S. taxpayers, wascaught in its entirety on videotape. This incidenttook place during the Al-Aqsa Intifadah whichbegan in September 2000.

No Money for Israel Occupation!

On December 9, 1997, the "Israeli" human rightsorganization B'Tselem issued a report that detailedhow many Palestinians were killed over a decade.B'Tselem's report states that "during the pastdecade, some 1,346 Palestinians were killed byIsraeli security force personnel, including 276 chil-dren, and 162 Palestinians killed by undercoverforces." Furthermore, the report shows that another"133 Palestinians were killed by Israeli civilians" i.e.settlers. Children and adults alike are subject toarrest, imprisonment without trial and state-sanc-tioned torture. Currently, some 7,000 Palestiniansare held in "Israeli" prisons. Passes are required fortravel from one region to another and special iden-tity cards are required in order to cross into "Israel"to work. Who funds all this discrimination? Yes, itis you and I, and every other taxpayer in America.

ZIONISM: The Forgotten Apartheid

No Money for Jewish Settlements!

U.S. aid to "Israel" is given in a lump sum amountwith no oversight or accountability. U.S. aid is usedto support "Israel's" expansion of West Bank settle-ments, and the blatant disregard of Palestinianhuman rights.

Yossi Sarid, a member of the "Israeli" Knesset states:"In theory, the Israeli government was obliged notto channel American aid into construction in theoccupied territories. In practice however, even if thebuilding funds did not come from the same pocket, they were from the same pair of pants. Through asimple circular movement, dollars flowed to securi-ty, education, and welfare, while shekels freed fromthese budgets into the construction of at least 200settlements."

• According to the December 1997 issue 0/TheWashington Report on Middle East Affairs, the total Iaid to "Israel"for fiscal year ending September 30,1997 was $6.72 billion dollars.

•U.S. aid to "Israel" is about $18 million per day, which is about $750,000 per hour.

• In 1997, U.S. aid to "Israel" was 7 times more thanthe aid given to all Black Africa, 6 times as much asthe U.S. spent on famine relief for the entire world.

• For years, "Israel" has paid its entire debt service onloans from the United States with funds granted fromthe U.S. Treasury. Since 1985, all U.S. aid to "Israel"has been in the form of grants, meaning that not apenny of it must be repaid. When "Israel" pays interestand principle on loans given before 1985, it does sowith U.S. tax dollars. This curious process began in1984 when Democratic Senator Alan Cranston ofCalifornia sponsored what became known as theCranston Amendment. It stipulates that economic aidto "Israel" each year will be at least equal to its annualrepayments (principle and interest) of its debt to theUnited States. In the wry words of then-Secretary ofState James A. Baker III in testimony before the Senatein 1992, the Cranston Amendment provided that "wecan always pay ourselves back with the money that weappropriate for 'Israel' to do so." The effect of thisamendment is to guarantee that "Israel" will alwaysreceive enough U.S. aid to cover its debt obligations.

latant discrimination against non-Jews canalso be found in other laws dealing with theacquisition of property, government sup-

port for young couples, educational curricula, andgovernment expenditure for schools, to cite just a fewexamples. The routine means for enforcing discrimina-tion is the ID card, which everyone is obliged to carryat all times. ID cards list 'nationality,' which can beJewish, Arab, Druze, Circassian, Samaritan, Kara ite,or foreign. When a person presents his ID card to apoliceman, a security official, or to a clerk at a govern-ment office whose services he requires, they can knowwhich 'sector' he belongs to and treat him accordingly;or, refer him to those who are responsible for dealingwith his 'sector.'"Excerpts from an article by Uzi Oman, published in the dailyHa'aretz, May 17, 1991.

"The ownership of land in Israel is under the juris-diction of the Israel Land Authority, which appliesas a 'fundamental criterion of land use, religion andnationality. As noted by Professor Uzi Oman,'Those registered as 'Jews' have full rights in regardto most of the land, cities, and settlements; thosewho are not registered as 'Jews' are barred fromowning real estate in most sectors of the country'("An Amazing Resemblance to South Africa,"Haaretz, Feb. 10, 1991). These restrictions apply toover 90 percent of Israeli land, within which, as

Israel Shahak states, 'the non-Jewish citizens of Israel- and of course all the non-Jews of the rest of theworld too - simply cannot live; they cannot rent ahouse or an apartment, or open a business, unlessthey surreptitiously sublet it from a Jew.' NOW THAT YOU KNOW THE FACTS...what can you do to help bring justice to palestine?

You have seen the pictures, read the facts, reflected upon the stories. You have seenhow an entire population of people has

been displaced from their land. A population whohas been forced to leave their homes. People whohave lived in Palestine for centuries are nowforced to live in refugee camps, and they cannotso much as travel to get food without having theirID checked.

The supposed "aggressors" and "violent insti-gators" are in actuality young Palestinian boysarmed with nothing more than rocks, facing"Israeli" tanks and high-powered machine guns.

Now that you know, you must ask yourselfwhat you are going to do about it. How can youuse the freedom you have to help those who donot know the meaning of the word?

What follows are some suggestions as to howwe can use our time and money to help alleviate

the pain and suffering of the Palestinian people. On the back of this magazine is an extensive listof books relating to the topic. We encourage youto read them. We hope you have read this maga-zine with an open mind, and are now willing toassist in the struggle to help the oppressed peopleof the world.

Some steps you can take today. Remember, every day counts.

1. As Muslims, we believe all power and strength comes from God, from Allah. We encourage everyone to sin-cerely pray daily for the people of Palestine, and for all oppressed people of the world. Muslims and non-Muslims alike can pray and should do so regularly.

2. Educate yourself and those around you about the truth about Zionism, the reality of the suffering of thePalestinian people. Education is the key. Talk to your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and classmates.

3. Monitor local media stories relating to the situation in Occupied Palestine. Respond to positive stories with let-ters of support; respond to negative/false stories by writing letters to the editor pinpointing what was incorrectin the article and explaining the truth.

4. Write letters/op-ed pieces in your local newspapers, school papers, community magazines, etc.5. Work with local groups that are striving to help the Palestinian people. Contact them to see how you can help.

Among the organizations are: Islamic Association for Palestine, American ArabAnti-Discrimination Committee, Council on American-Islamic Relations, International Action Center, and ahost of others.

6. Organize events for your campus and/or local communities. Organize programs and teach-ins. Be creative!Try to think of different ways to bring attention to the situation.

7. Support and organize local photo exhibits that show the plight of the Palestinian people. Pictures can tell thestory very clearly and very convincingly.

8. Build coalitions with other community and faith groups who will work with you to support the Palestinianpeople.

9. Wear a green ribbon constantly. When people-ask you what its about, explain to them why you are supportingthe Palestinian people. You will be surprised how open-minded people can be.

10. Give money. The people of Palestine are in dire need of our financial support. With war comes injury anddevastation. Among the many organizations that carry out relief work in Palestine are the Holy LandFoundation, Islamic Relief Worldwide, and others.

11. Organize protests and demonstrations in your local area. Protests often bring people of conscious together. When organizing, however, make sure to inform local media. A protest without sufficient media coverage hasnot really accomplished as much as it should.

Zron-ism n. : An organized mvemen of world Jewrythat arose in Europe in the late 19th century with the.'aim of reconstituting a Jewish state in Palestine.Modern Zionism is concerned with the developmentand uppo i i of the state of " I r u I."

American Heritage Dictionary, Third Edition

Zionism emerged in response to rising anti-Semitism as a politically secular movement declaring an incom-patibility between Jews and other nations, and that anti-Semitism was unavoidable; it went further to catego-rizing Jews as a nation/race, therefore making Jews as people of their nation, "Israel," instead of their respec-tive countries. From this, the need for a homeland arose. Most Jews and others were deceived by X i o m ;m ;stated overt purpose: to make a homeland for the persecuted Jews. Very few realized that this entailed makinganother people homeless since Palestine was inhabited. Therefore, to perpetuate the deception, it was neces-sary for the Zionists to make up myths, such as the land was empty and that the Palestinians "didn't exist," orthat there were people there, but they left willfully in 1948 at the suggestion of Arab leaders. Another popularexcuse was that the Palestinians existed but were backwards people with a stagnant culture and ionism*brought to them progress and prosperity (similar to the arguments made by all colonialists). To hide its colo-nialist nature, the Zionlsis employed "sugar-coating" euphemisms, the most famous of which was that theJews were returning home, blurring the difference between Judaism the religion, and Zionism the politicalmovement. They defined Jews as a nation, ultimately leading to the Great Displacement of the Palestinianpeople.
