Our mission

Zero Waste Scotland is helping Scotland to become more efficient in its use of resources. As a facilitator and enabler of change, we help to reduce waste, increase energy efficiency and use water more responsibly - all as part of a journey towards a low-carbon, sustainable economy.

Our policy context

• Our work supports the delivery of Scottish Government policy , including: – the Climate Change (Scotland) Act (2009), – the Zero Waste Plan (2010), – the Waste (Scotland) Regulations (2012)– the Recyclate action plan (2012)– Low Carbon Scotland (2013), – Safeguarding Scotland’s Resources (2013) – forthcoming national litter strategy.
