Welcome at ZALF!
ZALF in a nutshell
Our research approach: identifcation of problems systemic problem analysis analysis of interdependencies
between subsystems modelling of the whole development of strategies to solve
the problems in a sustained way
LandscapeZALF.
LandscapeZALF.
The main research clusters:> Landscape Functioning: (Carbon-)Biogeochemistry of Landscapes> Landscape Change: Land Use and Biodiversity Change> Landscape Conflicts and Management: Rural-Urban-Interdependencies
Research/Transfer/Implementation
ZALF-experiment close to Dedelow (Uckermark):combination of CO2-gas flux measurements with C-site balances
Monitoring of short term changes of the C – pool:
∆ SOC = NEE + (slurry – crop yield) + (SOCpin – SOCpout) + (DOCin – DOCout)

Policy Proposals
Impact Assessment
1. identifying the policy problem
2. defining the objectives
3. developing policy options
4. analysing their impacts
5. comparing the options
6. policy monitoring evaluation
…will this have social implications?
Are there changes?
Do these changes matter ?
…would here still be agricultural land?

LandscapeZALF.
A land use concept is capable of showing how the complexity of land use can be captured, conflicts of interest and usage identified and solutions developed for resolving them, meeting a key function of providing a framework for interaction between disciplines and responsibilities.
