Aims of Year 4/5

• Children at the heart of learning

• Developing Independence – children to take the lead for their own learning as this develops progress and target awareness.

• To build on previous key skills developed – focusing on Literacy and Numeracy skills.

Reward Systems

• Important to build confidence and self belief • Whole class approach – class treat• Group approach – table points• Individual approach – star charts• Peer approach – star spies and pupils award

prizes at the end of the day.

• Silent reading and target books every morning• First Lesson - Numeracy• Second Lesson – Literacy

• Welsh Drilling Sessions – 10minutes every afternoon

• Third Session – Topic Based Work Foundation Subject

• Forth Session- Topic Based Work Foundation Subject

• Reading – weekly reading • Maths – Weekly timetable recall

Homework• At the beginning of the tem, Topic packs will be

handed out (to be handed in when completed on a weekly bases)

• Tuesday – Spelling (new spelling words to be given, test the following week)

• Thursday – Maths homework (will build on what has been taught during the week)

• Regular practise of times table recall

Residential

• An experience they will NEVER forget
