Some will use a range of sentence structures for clarity, purpose and effect, withaccurate punctuation and spelling.

    Forreading:

Students responses will show their appreciation of, and ability to comment on, arange of texts, and they evaluate how authors achieve their effects through the use oflinguistic, structural and presentational devices. They select and analyse informationand ideas, and comment on how these are conveyed in different texts.

Some will explore some of the ways in which texts from different times and cultureshave influenced literature and society

How will work be assessed Work will be assessed using mock exam questions that are marked according to

    OCR band descriptors.

What needs to be done at home Differentiated skills based tasks will be given according to the needs of the groups.

These include: planning ideas, planning paragraphs and reading appropriate texts forresearch.

Home Learning tasks and resources are available via the facultys website,BeENGspired, which can be found through the school website.

What Key Language will be developed Students will be encouraged to use and understand more ambitious vocabulary.

Round decimals to the nearest integer, a given number of decimal places or to one significantfigure

    Know that, e.g. 13.5 0.5 = 135 5

Check their answers by rounding, and know that, e.g. 9.8 17.2 10 17

    Check calculations by rounding, e.g. 29 31 30 30

    Check answers by inverse calculation, e.g. if 9 23 = 207 then 207 9 = 23Fractions

    Multiply and divide fractions

Add and subtract fractions by using a common denominatorUsing a Calculator

    Change fractions into decimals

Recognise that some fractions are recurring decimals

Find reciprocals Understand reciprocal as multiplicative inverse, knowing that any non-zero number multiplied

By its reciprocal is 1 (and that zero has no reciprocal because division by zero is undefined)

Interpret the answer on a calculator display

    Use calculators effectively and efficiently

How will work be assessed During the Autumn term students will complete a series of assessment activities and module

tests. At the end of each term, your child will complete a controlled assessment to assess theirprogress.

What will be studied this term

GCSE Art & Design Create A Portfolio.During this term students will gain an understanding of some of the requirements of the GCSEcourse.

Develop your creative ideas through investigations, informed by relative (contextual) studies

    and other sources

Looking at the artwork of others both traditional, modern and contemporary

    Demonstrate analytical and cultural understanding

Explore and refine your ideas through experimenting and selecting appropriate resources,

    media, materials, techniques and processes

Record ideas and observations, illustrate insights relevant to their intentions in visual and/or

    other forms

How will work be assessed Students will be continually assessed, based on the Assessment Objectives laid out by the

    exam board.

What needs to be done at home As a dedicated Art student you should be creating artwork and refining your skills all the

times. The more time an artist spends on honing their craft the more successful the work they

produce will become. Even when Home Learning activities are not set, students should be working on extending

    their portfolio further.

Assessed work must be connected to the starting point you (the students) have been given.

What Key Language will be developed

Contextual Contemporary Exploration Media Analytical Annotation
