HR Director blog about why video resumes do not work

• 15 Reasons, including:– No 30 second text skim

– Video Resume wasn’t customized to my job

– “I don't recruit for jobs which require on-camera skill”

– I am so discouraged by how bad the vast majority of video resumes are, I have no inclination whatsoever to watch yours.

My next steps (Recommendations)

• YouTube Resume with Navigation is too much work

– too hard to customize– too long– I learned a great deal … and it’s a good

story to tell

• Evolve Micro-blog Resume Site Strategy

– More text, less video– Tailor Micro-site Blog Resume sites per

position type (like a cover letter)

• Links in PDF cover letter to Micro-site blog posts

– Cover letter has the headline, blog post has the story
