    A BRITISH SONG What a privilege to travel to Ireland and Scotland and sing in such lovely, historic places as Christchurch Cathedral and Trinity College in Dublin, Galway Chapel (also sang for the Saturday Mass there), Maynooth University with their choir, the 11th century remains of St. Kevin’s Church in Glendalough, St. Giles Cathedral and Stirling Castle in Glasgow, Scotland. One of the choral pieces we sang in each place was If Ye Love Me by Thomas Tallis (circa 1505-1585). I think the words are appropriate for our Lenten journey: If ye love me, keep my commandments, and I will pray the

    Father, And He shall give another comforter, that He may abide

    with you forever E’en the Spirit of truth.

    AN IRISH PRAYER

    Learned in music sings the lark I leave my cell to listen;

    His open beak spill music, hark! Where heaven’s bright cloudlets glisten.

    And so I’ll sing my morning psalm That God bright Heaven may give me,

    And keep me in eternal calm And from all sin relieve me.

    ABOUT THE SOLOIST AT THE 9:00 AM MASS: Lindsey Hayse is our soprano soloist at 9 AM. She is a member of our church youth and a Junior at Lanesville High School. Lindsey recently received gold ratings at both regional and state solo and ensemble events. Her selection is At the River by Aaron Copland.
