REFERENCE: 535054-3.1-AM-2012-R3 TITLE: Edges of Exclusion DESCRIPTION: ”Edges of Exclusion” is a Seminar on methodology of integration of youth with FEWEST

opportunities. It is designed as an in depth exploration of the concept of “young people with fewer opportunities”. To work on this topic the authors of the project have developed a term “no way groups”- meaning youth in those socio-cultural, economic or other realities which have almost no chances to take part in international youth project due to a wide variety of reasons (no language skills at all, not literate, living in excluded areas, behaviour disorders etc.). Youth workers, leaders and trainers taking part in this Seminar will perform a mapping youth subcultures of their respective societies, to find out WHO are the REAL “youth with FEWEST opportunities”, and during the project the whole work will be concentrated on the development of tools, methodologies and concrete projects with those on the “edges of the map”. Therefore focus of the seminar will be on young people from deprived urban and rural areas. This Seminar will serve also as a platform for in depth reflection and discussion on the issues of social exclusion and cultural diversity in Europe and to the roots of xenophobia and discrimination in the scope of social exclusion. It is also planned to help the participants of the Seminar to acquire competencies necessary for development of special youth measures under Actions 2 and 3.1 directed specifically to the inclusion of “no way groups” youth. The Seminar will be held in Tsakhkadzor, Armenia hosted by the applicant organisation, International Center for Intercultural Research, Learning and Dialogue. There will be 26 participants from the following countries: Armenia, Georgia, Moldova. Ukraine, Malta, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Croatia, Poland, and Slovenia.

In cooperation with 9 partners from Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Germany, Turkey, Czech Republic, Spain and Romania, the organisation “Bridge to the Future” will implement as the hosting organisation the training course “Theatre Techniques for Youth Inclusion and Empowerment” for 30 participants in Ganja, Azerbaijan, from the 15th until the 23th of June 2013. In line with the priority of the Youth in Action Programme and the specific priorities for the Eastern Partnership Window, the training course will provide participants with tools to support and encourage young people with fewer opportunities to participate more actively in societal life and to stimulate young people’s spirit of initiative, creativity, entrepreneurship, and employability. Thus youth work and its relevance for societal development are at the core of the project. The training course includes two topics: arts and cultures and anti-discrimination. With creative theatre-art techniques we would like to widen the understanding of youth work for inclusion and empowerment. Theatre methods and other art tools are not only art for art, but have an amazing potential to engage young people into educational endeavours, empower them to take social action and to learn how easy it is to create success for oneself, a group or a community. This training is meant for ‘hands-on people’. They will take an active role in all parts of the training, trying out new activities and new methods of deconstruction. Everyone will play a part in the success of the training. Thus, by letting our participants experience our approach, we want to encourage them to try an arts-based creative methodology with youth to enhance social learning process, their personal development in crucial aspects such as interpersonal communication, group dynamics, intercultural learning and team work as well as leadership and decision-making.

REFERENCE: 534602-3.1-GE-2012-R3 TITLE: Creating a new society – An outdoor simulation for DESCRIPTION: Gender equality is still a burning issue in European countries. Women are discriminated just

because they are women and in many countries the discrimination of women is not even considered a topic of relevance, but hidden behind cultural patterns. Forms of gender discrimination are diverse and differ in their severity. Thus, with this youth exchange we would like to engage into a dialogue with young people about gender equality and gender roles in their social environment. We would like to challenge our participants with different perceptions of the role of man and woman in modern Europe and in its past. Therefore, we will ask young people from six countries to engage into the demanding process of creating a gender equal society for the duration of the youth exchange. To make the situation more interesting the youth exchange will be held outdoors in form of a camping experience which automatically exposes the participants to simple question of shelter, food supply, sanitation and common ground rules right from the start of the encounter. With this approach we aim to: • To identify and discuss common forms of discrimination against women • To foster a gender-sensitive understanding of currently existing societal models and its inherent forms of discrimination • To experience that a new society based on gender equality is possible • To create follow-up initiatives that promote gender equality in the sending communities The Georgian youth organisation Youth for the World will host the youth exchange in Shaori (Georgia).
