chanic’s course”.
I asked Pat similar questions.
What will you take away from
your time in Youthreach?
“I found Youthreach very
welcoming, the staff were
willing to help with any out-
side issues I may have had,
and Youthreach allowed me
to finish what I couldn’t in
school.”
What are your plans for after
Youthreach?
“I plan to stay in Ireland for a
little bit longer, then I’m
heading home to Australia.”
Everyone here in Youthreach
would like to wish the guys all
the best in the future and
hope they come back to visit
us!

This month we said goodbye to
3 of our longest serving
students; Dylan Behan, Patrick
Kenny and Sean Murphy.
All 3 of the guys began their
Youthreach journey back in
2012 and are hoping to leave
with full FETAC awards.
Before they leave us forever we
thought we’d take the time to
ask them a few questions.
“Dylan you have been involved
in many football matches during
your time in Youthreach, what
is your most memorable mo-
ment?
“My most memorable moment
playing football for Youthreach
was playing against Athy and
when we beat them 13-6”.
You’re leaving very shortly,
what are your plans after
Youthreach?
“My plans are to get a job until
September and then do a
course”.
We asked Sean what his
favorite course during his time
in Youthreach was.
“My favorite course in here was
computers probably because
they are what I’m best at and
find the most fun”.
So Sean, what are your plans
after Youthreach?
“I plan to try to do a course in
cloud computing or computer
Youthreach Naas and Youthreach Blessington went head to head in a 6 - a side match in Naas Co.Kildare on the 30th of January. With fantastic football and beautiful techniques every where you looked on the day it was a very tense and exhilarating match. Many showed up to watch the match and the players played fan-tastically. In the first half Blessing-ton took the upper hand and had a lot of opportunities but could not succeed in scoring until late in the first half when it started to get go-ing. In the late part of the first half it became a very well played ,very well thought out and very tense game.
Goals from Dylan Behan, Brendan Ward and Leon O’ Brien for Naas Youthreach and goals from Shane Corcoran & Jamie Byrne by Bless-ington made it 5 all going into the second half. In the second half Naas had tip off and played confidently from the start but Blessington were not going to let them take control that easily, it was a very tense 10 min-utes until Blessington scored to make it 6-5. Naas had tip off again, they changed tactics and it worked as they equalised with a goal from Leon O’Brien. Then came Brendan Ward with a perfectly placed ball from Dylan Behan who passed out the Blessington defender and bur-
ied it in the back of the net to make it 7-6. Dylan Behan on his last match for Naas scored mo-ments later to give Naas an 8-6 victory. Thanks to the referee and the goalkeepers Jimmy Cawley from Naas and Daniel from Blessing-ton for keeping it such a tight and interesting game. By Brendan Ward
Richie McCormack takes on two Blessington
defenders.

STUDENT REVIEW: AMBER
Recently RTE aired an Irish drama called “Amber”. It was a 4 part drama set in Dub-lin about a 14 year old girl who goes missing. Here is what some of
our students thought:
The programme is set in
Dublin. It stars Lauren
Canny as Amber. Her
father is played by David
Murray and her mother is
played by Eva Birthistle.
The storyline is about a
14 year old girl named
Amber who went missing
after sneaking off into
Dublin by herself. The
programme had a good
bases for a good storyline
however a lot of the time
certain parts in each epi-
sode felt contrived and
frankly ridiculous. There
were some parts in the
show where you could
connect with the parents
on an emotional level, but
the show didn’t seem to
linger on these moments
for too long. The main
part of the show was not
the titular Amber but was
her parents. We did not
feel like Amber had
enough screen time for
the viewer to develop a
meaningful relationship
with her. The acting in
this show was not great
as some of the characters
lacked emotional range
for example the father felt
very wooden and stiff his
facial expressions did not
change a lot and the
mother felt like she was
ripped straight from Fair
City. The Gardaí were
shown as being incompe-
tent and did not seem to
follow any real proce-
dures. It succeeded in
keeping my interest until
the end. The ending was
disappointing and felt like
a let down for all the build
up it had. Sadly it stayed
true to many cases like
this in real life.
